Interesting read on him the other day, and he apparently gave his reasoning as to why he transferred out earlier this year.

"The Connecticut native grew frustrated with what he viewed as the Penn State coaching staff pigeon-holing him as a run-first quarterback. When he entered his name in the transfer portal in January, Levis wanted to find a coach who believed in his ability to also make plays with his arm."

So basically what all of us were seeing last year. I remember the entire forum being baffled as to why they just wouldn't let him throw the ball more. Always running, very little pass plays. We all stated it was like they didn't trust him for some reason, and now we know he felt the same way. It's even more frustrating now because had they just opened up the damn offense for him, he most likely would have stayed and felt secure in competing for the starting job.

I honestly don't blame him one bit for leaving, even though we sorely needed him the past two games. It's very hard to play for coaches who obviously have no faith in your ability to throw the ball.

y’all know I’ve supported James Franklin and I hope he gets this team back on track but make no mistake about it, I love Penn State football more and if I see that Penn St is better off if he goes I’ll change my mind in a flipping minute. This season as oftoday ain’t turning out the way I was hoping but a win against Ohio St can change that. I know it’s college and there’s more to it than just football to a lot of people but not me, I’m about Penn St winning football games I’ll leave the books to other people that know more about it than I do. I’m still on the James Franklin bandwagon but I’ll jump off if I see he’s hurting Penn State football. I love James Franklin but I love Penn State more. The Iowa games happens every once in a while but Illinois is unacceptable after a bye week. I already have to watch Ga Tech and the Falcons lol

I think I mentioned this in an earlier thread that that was a gut feeling of mine. When you go back and look at tape on him coming out of HS, the kid could play and could throw; imo better than what was already on the field. At KY, its pretty cool to see him play, the dude can accurately fire the ball and hit deft passes as well. Oh well; I'm glad it's worked out for him, he didn't slack up at all while at PSU giving the situation; play on.

There's definitely been some strange decisions over the last couple years when it comes to the QB position and now it's all most likely being used against us as negative recruiting material by other schools I'm not sure when Allar and Pribula plan on signing but hopefully it's in the early signing period.

@southern-psu-fan  great points.   I was OK with Franklin until the Indiana game last year.  I don’t think he told the team to not score despite his claims that he did.  There seems to be a lack of loyalty to the program among the players and I think that is a reflection on Franklin and the culture he has established.

Please give your theory on "there seems to be a lack of loyalty to the program among the players". I would be very interested in hearing it!

@navylion' We're among the leaders in the country at losing players in the transfer portal and at one time I believe were number 1.

Now compare his answers to those that Mike Tomlin gave when he was asked about the rumors that he was a USC candidate. Franklin sure didn't deny interest in USC or LSU and did nothing to end the speculation. Tomlin shot the rumors down and ended the speculation in seconds.

@psu61 Been wondering ... Franklin always says he is all about relationships - meaning, you could have a tremendous athlete on the team, but if Franklin is a Type A person, and this athlete is a Type B - that kid won't get playing time or the trust of the HC.  I could be way off base, but for many years now, Penn State has not had an adequate backup QB - the #2 guy has either been "The Lion", "The Run First guy", never the "go to guy if #1 gets hurt"  I know nothing about all the new rules that were put in place regarding number of hours allowed to practice or what not - and maybe not giving the #2 guy enough time to prepare is just a calculated risk a coach has to make, but it sure seems to me the PSU defense has turned a lot of #2 QB's from other teams into Heisman Candidates.
