@mtnittanylion: Hope you're right MNL but unless something magical happened at practice this week, I don't see us going into the shoe on a Saturday night and leave with a "W".
Our deer season starts this Sat for residents only. I'll be sitting with my granddaughter in the morning and evening in hopes of having two deer to butcher Sat nite. With that said, I'll be going old school and listening to the game on the radio hoping for a win!!
I'll be having a tailgate party in my garden. Hopefully it doesn't rain. Steaks and potatoes
@forum-titan: venison steaks right?? Calling for rain all day up this way Saturday.

Delmonico.
Venison tenderloin, homemade cranberry sauce, baked tater, sautéed green beans (garlic, hot pepper flakes, dash of chicken powder) and dinner rolls. Cold weather calls for a nice bourbon to ride along.
My grandmother is from Italy, I took the time to learn her Pizza recipe.....right down to making my own dough! I am making 10 Pizzas for my family Saturday afternoon, watching football in the kitchen and I will be ALL DONE and ready for Penn State at 7:30. A bunch of Crona and limes will be involved, a Shot or two of Fireball and then I am set!
WE ARE!!!!!
I think I gave this recipe out once before. I still have maybe 5 lbs or so of tenderloin and steaks still in the freezer. I am getting these out next week and my wife will make what we call "cold packed venison".
1) Cube all of the meat
2) Season with salt and pepper
3) Put a little crisco in an iron skillet
4) put the venison in, add a cup of water and a cup of flour
5) cook for 8 hours on low, turning and scaping the venison from the bottom of the skillet
( this is key, you want that well browned meat, it adds great flavor)
6) add small amounts of water and floor as needed
You don't want to burn the meat, but having it stick to the skillet and scraping that well done meat is very tasty! You need to keep it moist, so you have to add water as needed, but easy on the flour
I always have one hot sandwich when it is done, but the rest I leave cool and pack in small plastic bags and refrig. It will stick together and become finger food. I will pull out a baggie of it and eat it cold right from the refrig. It is really good this way!
Just a great way to use up what you have before taking another deer! Cooking it for 8 hours really makes it tender and fall apart.
Try it sometime!
@mtnittanylion: Pretty sure I wouldn't have the patience to do that for 8 hours. How about if you do it and send samples out to the rest of us??
@tsuga Knowing you ole boy, Im not sure if you're looking for deer or "dear'
Remember back in the old days, all we had was the radio...well I had occasion to listen to a game on radio this year, and it sure took me back to my younger days; I enjoyed it very much, especially the memories it brought..
And I still say, the best game on radio is baseball..Whether its a hot muggy sunny day, or a comfortable night, nice listening to the radio with a cold one in hand..
You recently mentioned Phils great announcing teams, first By Saam, and Richie, then Harry K,and Richie...While the latter became primarily the TV guys, Harry Kalas, knowing his roots, and what got him started , always insisted doing at least an inning on radio..and he was great at it, keenly aware it was different than describing on TV where less rhetoric is often the best tack..

CT: I have too many weapons at home and a wife that knows how to use them to be foolish enough to look for the two legged species!!
Baseball on the radio was/is the best. I'm guessing we're both old enough to remember when the "Crack of the bat" was the play by play man smacking two woodblocks together.
I wanted to hit you up a few weeks back. My grandson and I do FF together. My only rule is we have to have one PSU player on our roster at all times. We had Sanders ( I know you're an iggles fan) but dropped him cause he was doing nothing. What is going on with him??
Good to hear from you. Stay well!!!
@tsuga LOL..Gotcha....have a wife here too...
Good question on Miles Sanders...we have a first yr coach who appears totally in over his head..He doesnt run the ball
, Eagles have had games where Sanders got 1 touch, then 3 touches...As you know, Sanders has established himself as a good NFL RB...After getting beat bad by Cowboys, then Chiefs, and Buccaneers, and getting ripped by media/fans alike...Eagles came out against LV Raiders actually with a balanced attack, more runs than passes actually, went right down the field for a 80 yd opening drive TD, with Sanders looking like the Sanders of old, he looked great...Inexplicably, after getting buried on own 5 on 2nd possession, Birds got away from running the ball....and on one of the rare occasions they did run, Sanders went down, with what is being called a bad ankle sprain..Theyre not saying the extent but he is definitely out this week..Sanders has been a very good soldier, saying the right things... but he cant be happy, and if I got this right, is playing for a contract..Will keep you advised
Good to hear from you...hope all is well...AND, good luck tomorrow night...who knows if Clifford is indeed well, could be a competitive game..
We are going on a meat hunt this year!! Filling the freezer in case there is a shortage of cows next! Maybe I will just do that! You all can drive to York and I will set up a food line for you!
@mtnittanylion: good idea!! Aren't there still a number of butcher shops down there anymore?? I have an acquaintance down your way that raises beef cattle. Let me know if ya need a whole or half a steer.
@culture-thrives: I hope I'm wrong but I don't think we have the horses to run with OSU.
I got my my guy at work gettin me 2 deers this year because of the price of beef and there could be a shortage of beef. I can get all the deer meat I want. I heard on the news that there could be a tax on cattle where the taxes would be more than what the cow is worth, is that correct? I eat mostly deer meat anyway so it won’t effect me I only use beef if I’m doing hamburgers but I do hate it for the people that do use a lot of beef. I know shipping charges are more because we went up to $200 per delivery.
@tsuga MILES Sanders to the IR; With the new rules, means he'll miss at least next three games...His return is vague; MIles says he'll be back this year..
