If Illinois can upset penn state then penn state can upset OSU.

This has been a crazy year for college football,  so anything is possible

IF grasshoppers wore 45's the birds wouldn't mess with them.

IF ifs and thans were pots and pans there'd be no work for tinkers

How much you betting and how many points you taking?

If we are plus more turnovers than we were against IL......

Ok, here is my take on this! JF blew the last two games like I have never seen in my life!! He COMPLTELEY MISSED every possible thing you could miss! I don't think Penn State is a top 4 team EVEN if they would be sitting at 7-0.....but I definitely think they are a top 10 team this season based on the rest of the field!

Ohio State is playing well, they have confidence and rightly so.  BUT, they have only played one rank team this year and they got beat!! And THAT ranked team lost to a 3-4 UNRANKED team.

I am telling you all right now! JF PSSD away a golden opportunity this year by making some REALLY bad decisions. Decisions that he thought were great decisions because he hasn't learned from past BAD decisions!

I only say this if Clifford is truly 100% Saturday night.  Penn State can beat Ohio State this weekend! I just don't think Ohio State can shut down Penn State's passing game if Clifford plays to his potential.  They are not great on defense, Oregon posted 35 points....and IMO, Oregon and Penn State are similar programs this year.

That Illinois game??  Every freaking Moon, Star, Sun and Planet lined up in a once in a LIFETIME solar system phenomenon event and that is just how was in Beaver Stadium last Saturday night!  Won't happen again for another million years!

I like Penn State by 14 with a healthy Clifford!

GO STATE!

Penn State is not a top 10 team, you cannot lose to Illinois, after a bye week, after another loss, and claim that with any sort of logic.

Clifford is not healthy, he probably will not be healthy for the rest of the year, and we need to find a way to win with a QB who can't move or take a hit without cringing. All this behind an OLine that looks lost in the middle, our guards and center simply aren't getting it done.

The RB from Baylor looked great there, and everyone was saying he's gonna be a big pick up for us. Now apparently he's a bum and it's not the line's fault. Lee looked good last year, and now he's not good enough. Cain was a beast in 2019, now he's a bum. It's not the RBs, it's the interior of the line. 3 new guys there and they stink, period. The new center, and the 2 new guards just aren't getting it done, that is the problem and we aren't a top 10 team if those guys can't get a push on Illinois, Ball State, or even Villanova.

A healthy Clifford was masking these guys inability to block, and now that he's injured he was basically a sitting duck back there. Honestly I think the tackles are fine, they've done well. But the 3 guys in the middle are just plain bad.

@roaminglion First of all, I don't have a confirmed opionion regarding our whoa's in the running game, just bringing this up for discussion.

That said, if our O line is terrible especially the 3 in the middle, is it them or is it coaching? They were all highly regarded recruits coming in and have spent considerable time on campus.

Roam, in the cotton bowl 2019 season Matt Limegrover’s last game before he was fired we had 400 yards rushing in that one game man. The running game hasn’t been the same since and the wins and losses backup what I say. 2019 Cain was running behind a Matt Limegrover OL. I told you it would not end good letting him go and it ain’t. 400 yards rushing man we ain’t seen nothing like that since then not even close. When did the results on the field stop meaning something?

@southern-psu-fan Dude are you REALLY going to use the cotton bowl against MEMPHIS? MEMPHIS? to try and prove your point for Limegrover? OMG man, sometimes you just need to quit while you're ahead. And PLEASE don't even try to tell me oh Memphis was 12-1 when we played them in that cupcake of a schedule they had. COME ON MAN!!!!!

All eyes will be on the big game this Saturday in our rematch against the Illini at the neutral site of Michigan's stadium, while Ohio State sits on their bench wondering why we stood them up!

I feel the same about Limegrover.  Don't know why he was let go.  The man had the line moving in the right direction IMO.

FFS guys don't forget what a OL coach taught them when they leave. It's not like all of a sudden the recruits just crapped their pants because Limegrover isn't here anymore.

And who cares about a game against Memphis? You constantly talk about teams from the American like they suck, then say running for 300+ yards against one of the worst rush defenses in that conference is some sort of amazing accomplishment?

Barkley 5.7  yards per carry
Sanders 6.0 yards per carry

Brown 6.8 yards per carry

Cain freshman year 5.3 under Limegrover now he’s at 3.0 yards per carry and he should be better. Like you said, guys don’t forget how to run either. I bet that Memphis team we beat  would have beat the Illinois team we lost to Saturday. I agree it was Memphis

I believe it’s a combination, the OL has got worse and the RB’s aren’t as good

Or maybe the coaches aren't developing the talent. PSU has had  4 or 5 highly touted RB's come in over the last couple years and now all of a sudden they're all busts?

@psujoe   We’ll find out next year because we got some big time studs at QB and RB coming in.

Ricky Slade

Devyn Ford

Noah Cain

All were considered big studs coming in. We'll find out about Singleton, all I know is he's good but the team he's playing for doesn't exactly play the toughest competition.

Hope you're right MNL.  I do have a few concerns after Franklin's presser yesterday......  He reportedly said several times that all he's focused on is the upcoming game with Illinois!  Also reported to have said this weeekend's game will be tough on the road at the "Big House"!  Does this sound like he's focused?  Seems to me he's still preoccupied with other things!  Anyway, I'm pulling for the Lions to pull off a big upset at the "Shoe" despite these distractions.

Seriously made those blunders?  Or are you confusing Franklin and Biden?

I don't  think JF has early onset Alzheimer's after two losses so he must not be getting enough sleep.  Why?

I still can't believe Roberson got zero time against IL.  What would the downside have been for JF?  It might have shown they didnxt have him prepared to run 3 plays after 2 weeks?  That's the worst that could be said and well, we are left saying that because he didn't let him play a series with a 60% Clifford.  And do I think Clifford will be more than 90% against OSO?  No I don't.

From 247:

"Franklin was asked about the rumors linking him to USC and LSU during his Zoom conference call on Tuesday. He insisted his focus is on the Nittany Lions, but it didn’t seem that way. Why? Franklin said multiple times that he is only worried about Penn State’s upcoming game against Illinois

The problem with that, of course, is that Penn State will face No. 5 Ohio State on Saturday night. Franklin’s team lost to Illinois last weekend in nine overtimes.

You can chalk that up to a mental lapse, but Franklin had others during the same press conference. He also said Penn State will face a big challenge this weekend on the road in “The Big House,” which is the nickname for Michigan’s stadium. Ohio State’s stadium — where Penn State will play Saturday — is nicknamed “The Horseshoe.”

Cincy over ND....1-0

Texas A&M over Bama....2-0

Iowa State over OSU....3-0

App State over CCarolina....4-0

Indiana over Ohio State....4-1 ( Tuttle was a big loss in that game.  1st Drive, 75 yds and a TD and then out ) This is why I am saying a healthy Clifford beats Ohio State.

Oregon Over Ohio State....5-1

Penn State over Iowa....5-2

NC State over Clemson....6-2

These were the only games I bet on this year. The Indiana game was a dumb bet, took it because the payoff would have been great. Pretty sure Iowa would have been a win if Clifford didn't get hurt.

I am not good at the score predictions this year, but doing fairly well picking the winners and winning some bank! On the fence this weekend with Sparty and the Gators.  But, I did take PSU by 14.

Penn State 31

Ohio State 17

Reasoning:  I think Yurcich mismanaged the offense in the Iowa game.  Don't think they had to lose that game with Roberson in.  The defense was doing well, but they relied on them too much.  Roberson could have eaten them alive with a run pass option to the left side of the defense.  They tried to throw long and over the middle too much with a small QB. Keep it simple, pick up a few extra first downs and they win that game.

Same goes with Illinois.  Once they were up 10-0, Clifford should have been pulled and Roberson in.  I know of at least 4 times Clifford could have run for a 1st down but hesitated and got nothing.  In the same situations, Roberson would have had a great chance to pick up those 1st downs.  Roberson is not better than Clifford, but he can scramble better.  Again, they relied on the defense, it worked in the sense that they only gave up 10 points in regulation, but the they mismanaged the offense for a second time.

They scored one touch down in the 1st quarter off of a " close my eyes and pass play, cross your fingers and see what happens" that Dotson made work! And then zilch from there! Maybe, just maybe by the beginning of the 4th quarter, somebody should have said let's put Roberson in and see if he can shake it up! I promise, Penn State would not have more than two losses right now if they did!!!!!

I just don't see Ohio State posting 30 plus points against this defense.  For me, it all comes down to Yurcich and Clifford.  Ohio State is not great on defense, they are good, but they aloud Oregon a lot of opportunities and they aloud the same thing against indiana in the first quarter. That game was over as soon as Tuttle left and the walk on came in.

GO STATE!  I am sticking with my decision and if I am wrong, won't be the first time.

@mtnittanylion: Hope you're right MNL but unless something magical happened at practice this week, I don't see us going into the shoe on a Saturday night and leave with a "W".

Our deer season starts this Sat for residents only. I'll be sitting with my granddaughter in the morning and evening in hopes of having two deer to butcher Sat nite. With that said, I'll be going old school and listening to the game on the radio hoping for a win!!
