Of course....they play with themselves ... I said it before and u make my argument Southern...Out of conference schedules only matter if you don't play in the SEC...the hypocrisy is laughable...Bama hasn't played anybody worth a lick outside of there conference the last 2 or 3 years...they have MAYBE 3 tough conference games a year and they March into a CFP where they get special treatment... It's a joke...
And if Ohio St, Penn St or Wisconsin win the conference with one loss and are not in the playoffs its just another Paper Champion.

This argument lacks context...
Alabama usually schedules a very good out of conference opponent every single year, although they do usually schedule it as a neutral site game.
The last two years they had Florida State and Louisville, both ACC teams that were ranked in the top 10 when Alabama scheduled them. it's really not their fault that both teams fell off the wagon.
Might I remind you that in 2016 Alabama played and crushed USC, the same USC team that beat us in the Rose Bowl. so I wouldn't be too quick to bring up Alabama's out of conference schedule, especially when they beat a team we lost to.
Alabama is not a fun place to go to school. When Saban asks for more student support, something is amiss.
Alabama is a fine school and beautiful campus... Been to many spring A games. . Met and lunched with former AD Mal Moore...been to dreamland several times... I actually love Alabama .. But the special treatment they are getting now is laughable . It's a farce.. The SEC will get a 2nd team in ahead of a 1 loss conference champ... Book it... Lock it..
Again the big lie.. They scheduled "top 10 teams" Florida State and Louisville... LOL... My point exactly... They aren't top 10 teams and were proven not to be... But they inflate the rankings of teams prior to them playing Bama . .that is purposely done to inflate Bama's strength of schedule....they use the same tactics to inflate the SEC strength of schedule ... It's a joke and a farce...

It was 5 years later, for petes sake dud Florida State won a championship only 5-6 years ago around when Alabama scheduled them.
You have a very weird definition of proof.
...and please don't act like Alabama's the only team who plays highly ranked teams that go on to stink that year. I remember Penn State playing Nebraska when they were ranked number four, and they ended the year 5-7. we also just recently scheduled Virginia Tech and West Virginia. both teams were ranked when we scheduled the dumpster fires now.
Exactly why I say go after Texas, Oklahoma, usc the big boys of the conference because usually they are pretty dang good. I’m not saying play 2 big dawgs a year just one and a team like Pitt or WV or even Syracuse but these 3 teams can’t be your big OOC game of the year.
Here's my point. .. And I will make 2...1st one is that miraculously the teams that play the top ranked SEC teams ie. Bama etc.. Miraculously get ranked whenever possible the week before they play Bama, Georgia, LSU and the top ranked SEC teams... They need to do this so they can artificially inflate the number of top 25 teams... Cause they don't look at end of year records or rankings they look at where the team was ranked when they played you.. .This is one of several ways they dishonestly try to affect the perception ...
2. It's amazing to me that u brought up the Bama beat USC argument.. .When did Bama beat them? Who was the starting QB? If my memory serves me correctly didn't USC Start off 0-3 or something like that and weren't they along with PSU the hottest teams in college football at the end of the season? Where did Bama play them? I know we played them on their home field .. It was a home game for them...
Can we use that same argument with UCF beating the crap out of Auburn... Auburn beat Bama right...That didn't happen 11 games prior either... Auburn beat Bama the game BEFORE they got drilled by UCF... Does that mean UCF is the national champion? I mean they were undefeated and Bama didn't even play in their conference championship game... Hahahaha
It's remarkable the spin that goes on to defend this nonsense... Hahahaha

Oh FFS... First it's all "Alabama plays no one". Then it's all "well they only played them in the beginning of the year". Also it's "Didn't play them at home". Yes, I'm sure if USC played at home it wouldn't have be a 52-6 pounding. There's always an excuse from you.
Last I checked a season is 12 games. All of them count, stop making excuses. Alabama went and played a ranked USC team that year and you are pounding them for it, meanwhile we played Pitt. Get over it.
Let me ask you a few questions Roam and then make one more point. ..
YES.. .It does matter when you play a team from 2 standpoint... Do you believe USC was a better and different team week 1 without Darnold at QB or in the rose bowl when Darnold was the QB and maybe the hottest QB in college football? Do you think that matters? Do you think playing them in a prime time game in their stadium helped or hurt USC?
And when and where you play an opponent does matter...You don't think it matters if key players are playing or out with injury? I do... You think Iowa is a more difficult game on a Saturday night primetime in their building?? How bout Penn State on a Saturday night white out?
As a former player I can tell ya it matters and it matters significantly...
The dishonest thing that bothers me is they don't judge the SOS at the end of the season... If a team is ranked #3 at the beginning of the season and finishes 3 & 9 you get credit for beating the #3 team... So they artificially rig this thing... They are doing it now. It's a joke...

No, sorry but you don't get to change the context of your argument.
Your argument was that they schedule no one, not that they only played good teams in the beginning of the year. Now because I brought up that they actually did schedule someone of consequence early in the year, you're trying to change your argument to that team not being good in the beginning of the year.
Yeah, I get teams get better during the year... but you don't get to have it both ways. You don't get to say that Alabama never schedules any good teams out of conference, and then complain that that team wasn't really good in the beginning of the year.
I mean, you're blaming Alabama for scheduling a good team that didn't play well. What, somehow it's Alabama's fault the USC coach couldn't get his sh*t together for the first game?
Seriously, if Alabama scheduled a game with God you'd probably complain that heaven is an easy place to play.
OK... What out of conference opponent that was ranked in the top 25 on Dec. 1st has Bama played in the last 3 years? As a matter of fact they even have an FBS team or 2 on their schedule every year as well... I ain't buying any of the malarkey of how much tougher Bama's out of conference schedule is than Penn State or any other team...Hell an FBS beat LSU in their building last year if memory serves... The whole SEC superiority argument is total horse hockey...
FD, check out what the SEC has done to Ohio st the last 25 years. LSU and Florida beat the living you know what out of ‘em. Bottom line is when it comes to the big 10 we need to step our game up especially in bowl games it’s that simple. That’s why I keep saying stop scheduling these garbage teams and go after all the top dawgs just like the greatest Joe Paterno did a d the great Bobby Bowdon did it’s that simple. Yes penn st might have to give up a home game to get the respect we want. You ain’t going to get respect beating up on WV and Va Tech I can tell you that now.

1. Who was even arguing that Alabama's OOC schedule was better? All I was saying is it's not worse than anyone else.
2. I scrolled up top, saw you have been to Tuscaloosa a good amount. Did you ever get out to Archibald's for BBQ? It was literally a shack behind someone's house... but oh so good.
FYI... if you didn't know, I actually got my Master's degree at Alabama. Both my father and grandfather got their undergraduate degrees there as well.
