I see we have already lost our first prime Pa player, Jeremiah Trotter out of Philly. It was apparently between us, Clemson and Georgia Tech. He went to Clemson. I reiterate that IMHO these kids go where there is certain success and where they feel they can be developed into NFL players. ... quickly. It seems any kid who shows up and plays well for a year is off to the NFL. Wonder how many we will lose to that next year from this years prime players? The rich will get richer and the middle will stay the middle. I stated before that an article I read indicated that the top 25 players in PA... many 4 and 5 star were all going elsewhere except 1. Something needs to change or we will always be there but not in it. Merry Christmas to all.

I understand your point, but you picked a poor example to make it. Trotter wasn’t really recruited hard to PSU. In fact, for a 4 star player, his offer list was underwhelming. I’ll trust James Franklin and all the other major coaches who didn’t offer Trotter. This includes Ohio State who recruited 2 of his St. Joe’s Prep teammates but didn’t offer Trotter. You would have made your point better with some other players.

Oh by the way ... how about the other 24 out of 25 with many high stars we did not get ... that should make the point. I think it was on a USA Today sports article last week or 2 weeks ago.
So my question to the recruiting experts on here. I don’t follow it that close but I do read all the comments about missing out on instate talent. My question is multi-part:
How many instate PA players are considered high star/ranked recruit prospects.
Out of the number from above how many did we actually offer
Out of the # of instate offers how many actually signed.
Is the missing out on talent based of offers to signings or the over all eligible players as opposed to how many dined with PSU?

From the above article:
"Pennsylvania is home to two five-star prospects and nine four-star prospects in the 2021 class. That group includes five players ranked among the top 100 nationally, headlined by one of the nation’s top offensive linemen."
"Ten of the top 11 prospects in the state have already signed with their program of choice, while just one is still undecided on where they will play in college. Eight college football programs have signed as least one of the top 11 prospects in Pennsylvania. Ohio State and Pitt lead the way with two signees each among that group, while Clemson, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, Penn State and Wisconsin each have one."

@psujoe Thanks for the help Joe. Here in Ahia the local news announced today that two 5 stars, Marvin Hayes Jr and Kyle McCord both from Philly have both signed with TO$U. I guess with all the evidence out there, I am sorry if I originally picked a poor example, clearly shows we are not winning the state or even the cities.

Yes there has been a somewhat disturbing trend of the top talent in the Philly Metro going elsewhere but there is good news so far for 2022. There's a total of 12 players rated either 5* or 4* in the state and 4 have given verbals to PSU and another is a heavy lean.
