The latest Academic Progress Ratings are out & we're last in the B1G!

2026 APR Score: 957 (No 18)

2025 APR: 947 (No. 17)

Even with a 10-point increase, the Nittany Lions football team still fell to last place in the rankings for B1G schools.

Kumbaya!

I could be wrong but I believe that transfers affect that rating. If that is the case, it's no wonder PSU rates low with the great exodus of players this year.

Well, we lost a couple of wide receivers and a few other players last year as well. With players leaving schools every year I think maybe they just need to look at players that are still at the school or dropped out due to academics. I know all schools are being judged the same way.

@psugrad81

You said it 81 all schools are being judged the same way and I'm sure other B1G schools had players leave too.  I can understand us being last for 2026, but we were next to last in 2025!  Something's wrong!

Lets face it fella's...James Franklin was not Joe Paterno...It is quite obvious that he wasn't engaged with the players by the reports of players never being in his office etc...I believe he ran the program as if he was the CEO of a company...I don't think he was a disciplinarian and I don't believe he was really engaged in the day to day operation of the program...I also think he was more or less a players coach and from what has been reported he didn't really build any sort of accountability...He sort of ran this thing like an NFL organization with the players more or less doing what they want to do as long as what they did didn't affect their eligibility or bring harm to the program he let it slide...This is the byproduct of a programs culture or lack thereof...

Academics for/in football went out the window years ago. They're students, ok the majority, are students in name only. Some still go to get a degree, but for most, those days are gone.

@the-funeral-director and if I remember correctly the academic scores have been sliding downward for years.
