For all the stuff about coaching...

What coach are you gonna go get? Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, Dabo Sweeney are all taken. No one else out there makes the CFP consistently, and usually loses big games every year. Georgia just lost. ND almost lost to Pitt, and the year before they lost 3 bad games. Michigan hasn't been winning big games. Oklahoma's Bob Stoops retired with the notion he could no longer win big games. Mullen at Florida dumped one to Kentucky, Washington just lost their 2nd game this year...  Auburn just lost to Tennessee.

My point is, beyond like 3 guys, no one out there is winning to the consistency you say you want. Dantonio? Two years ago his team won 3 games, now we're saying he outcoached Franklin and Franklin needs to go?

I mean, I get that you think he's "not elite", but...……………….. WHO IS? What person has a track record of winning like you want that isn't entrenched at Alabama, Clemson, or Ohio State? Or are you ready to just roll the dice and hire anyone?

I think sometimes as fans we get a bit of tunnel vision, like bad games and dumb losses only happen to our team. Fact is they happen all the time, to most teams. Ohio State lost last year to Iowa, got crushed... Meyer dumped that one and was outcoached by Ferenz. It happens. A LOT.

How bout just a  guy with an excellent football pedigree? A guy who has spent years building his reputation and then was hired as a coordinator and has been working for years with one of the current great coaches ? In other words a Kirby Smart type guy.

What happens when JF'S enthusiasm fades?  He's been a head coach 8 years, what happens when the rah-rah is no longer there? He's proven he can't match wits with upper echelon coaches and he's also proven that he's only a so-so game manager. After the OSU loss and press conference where JF talked about becoming elite I had pretty high expectations for this game and the guy completely left me down. Two weeks to prepare and the performance by his team was very disappointing.

Kirby Smart just got boat raced by Ed Orgeron and LSU, Georgia wasn't even competitive. They got boat raced by Auburn last year in the regular season as well, and then blew a 4th quarter lead in the title game to lose.

So what exactly makes him so special?

My point being even the Kirby Smart's of the world have really bad games and blow leads in games they should win. Although I do agree your point of Franklin getting tight at the end of games is completely valid. He needs to manage the 4th quarter much, much better. It's definitly an issue.

I understand why people are disappointed. I think in this game we were clearly out coached. I didn’t like it when I saw some of the players act in a celebratory manner when they made a big play. To me, that was a signal.

I was only using the name Kirby Smart as an example but I knew that was the direction you would go. Kirby is in his second year and apparently you're not giving him any passes but JF is in his fifth and you keep giving him unlimited passes which makes no sense to me. Time to start holding JF accountable. You're right, no coach is perfect not even the alleged elite coaches but when there is an obvious troubling pattern I think there is cause for concern.

That was pretty much my only point, no one is perfect. But I do agree that the late game coaching is concerning.

Where did I say Kirby Smart should be fired? Where did I say he was a bad coach? I simply stated the facts that his team got destroyed two years in a row, yet you are giving him as an example of a coach who wins big games?

If I was a Georgia fan I'd be happy with Kirby, but let's not act like he wins every big game either.

Have no clue who you're responding to because I've said none of the things you're talking about. All I did was used the name as an example of the type of guy to look for if we ever do another coaching search.

"Kirby is in his second year and apparently you’re not giving him any passes"

What passes am I giving Franklin that I am apparently not giving Kirby?

The real question is, can Coach Franklin and his hand-picked staff play for a National Championship?     After watching the losses last year and this year, the answer today is NO,  but a Great Coach can change that and I hope Coach Franklin can do this.   The reason is lack of the X’s and O’s, game plans for certain situations, ability to close out games, and really selecting coaches that will develop and extract all the talent that is wanting to come to PSU.   There should be no reason why PSU cannot be a National Brand like Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State.

When a loss occurs, how does the team respond?   It surely does not come out flat after a bye week and with poorly designed Offensive and Defensive Game Plans.    Coach Franklin needs to be known as one of the best “College Coaches” in College Football and not just a Great Recruiter.

I am a proud to be a season ticket holder and look forward to watching PSU football, wins and losses. I want Coach Franklin to succeed.

Bob Ladouceur, Football Coach  from De La Salle High School preaches, “We are not asking for the Perfect Game, but we are expecting  the Perfect Effort.   The movie, “When the Game Stands Tall”, is a movie about Bob and his coaching techniques.  Truly a Great Movie.

IMOP excellent coaches are well prepared. They are more of a conductor who sets the vision and then puts the assistants in place to carry out the mission. There's a point of where an assistant has to be cut lose if not producing. It's one thing to call the right play but have the player/s fail to execute and another to not call the right play or scheme and flat out be out coached. Excellent coaches see the difference and make decisive decisions.

Look how long it took Dabo to start winning big games Roam. Until he got Deshan Watson Dabo really didn’t win crap. James Franklin has been much better than Dabo if you compare what they did their first 4 years, James Franklin is way better.

IMO remoh Kirby would’ve had losing seasons had he took over penn st when James Franklin did. Georgia is loaded with more talent than we are. James Franklin has only been recruiting on a fair level for the last 2 years that’s why I say we are still feeling the sanctions. I believe it will take 3 more recruiting classes for us to be where George and Alabama are. Y’all know good and well you don’t fix death penalty sanctions in 2 years because his 1st 2 years really were average at best considering what he walked into so really he’s been recruiting on a level playing field for 2 years. That’s why the so called experts said it would take 15 to 20 years to fix and James Franklin already has it almost fixed. 2 maybe 3 more years he’ll have it fixed. Yes James Franklin has recruited good but it’s great coaching on his part is why we’ve been winning. BTW Kirby got his ass handed to him this past weekend and he’ll probably get it again before the season is over when we’re losing games we have a chance to win. Just my opinion though.
