"Besides Hamler, did Penn State ever throw a fade route to any other wide receiver? Hamler is 5'9", Shorter is much taller... If you can’t teach a 6-4 guy how to catch balls on a fade route, is that on him or you as a coach?"

Interesting take, I agree. It's not all on Shorter.

Guys, I could be wrong but it’s looking like Shorter just didn’t have it, it is what it is. It happens. Didn’t McSorely throw that pass all the time? Clifford is doing a great job IMO considering he’s a first year starter and he’s still very young. He will keep gettin better.

McSorely was 9-4 last year with a experienced team and he was a 3 year starter and Clifford is 9-2 in a rebuilding year so if we just look at that why think something is wrong? We will finish 10-2 regular season

Evidence? Dude, it's more of a sarcastic statement because they never threw fade routes to tall receivers. Fact is the only wide receiver to ever get fade routes was the shortest guy on the team which makes no sense.

Heck, they threw fades more to hamler than Friermuth and he's 6'6". Come on, you can't just stick your head in the sand and not wonder why the only person they were ever calling that damn play for was the shortest kid on the damn team.

It's a legit point

Because winners look to get better, not just sit back and say we're good enough. Criticism is not a bad thing if you want to get better, in fact it's the only way you get better.

What team ever got better ignoring their deficiencies just because they had a good season? FFS, enough of this nonsense where people act like criticizing the team is out of bounds. It's entirely possible to be extremely happy with this season, happy with the coaching staff, yet still have legitimate concerns at how we can get better for next year.

anyway, I believe it was Cory Giger... and he wasn't literally implying that they weren't teaching fade routes, he was making a point that for some reason they're not throwing them to their big wide outs.

Some of the problem could be on Clifford but Shorter should know he’s a first year starter. Shorter IMO just looks average and I ain’t seen anything to make me think he’s a game changer but the kid is still young but to quit this time of the year don’t do him any favors.

What is amazing to me is you say this like this coaching staff is somehow not working to get better and improve or like it's never crossed their mind... I'm 100% sure  this staff is on top of it...

Maybe it's as simple as Hamler is the best at high pointing on the fade, I have no clue and personally I don't care who it goes to... A bigger WR does not guarantee anything on the play.

Eye hand coordination along with body control is a bigger deal then being tall.

I agree roam,  remember I think we need to get better at RB and our RB’s have played ok I just think we have to get better. I will admit I’ve been very proud of Brown the last couple of weeks he’s been gettin yards after contact and that’s what I wan’t to see. Ive also said #99 needs to pick his game up and get off the blocks and get to the QB. #99 reminds me of Haynes his Jr year good player but needs to play better. Haynes came back his Sr year and killed it and I think 99 needs to do the same thing because he ain’t ready for the NFL

I meant people on here always acting like you hate the team or hate a coach just because you criticize him. In actuality Ive stated many times that I know Franklin wants to get better as does Rahne and that I think that they will.

But yeah...  I'm "really" saying the coaching staff is just sitting around doing nothing and does not want to get better. You found me out LMAO

I find it very hard to believe that the only person good enough on Penn State's roster to run a fade route is the smallest guy on the team.

With literally five to seven wide receivers that were four stars or higher on a roster, are you really telling me that none of them know how to run a fade route well? That's the assumption we're going with?

Are you watching and evaluating fade routes at PSU practice every day?  I'm not, I just gave you a possibility of why, you don't have like it.

It's not as simple as running the route but yes please ignore all the other factors on that play.  Are we going to go all off season blaming fade routes on being 10-2?

I like Moorhead but I just don’t care for bob shoop. He just didn’t seen like a guy you can trust. It’s like he always played games about gettin more money. He was an ok DC I just don’t like the way threatened to leave after every season. Just my opinion of him I could be wrong lol

No, I didn't. I never mentioned the coaches and my statement was a direct reply TO SOUTHERN saying "and Clifford is 9-2 in a rebuilding year so if we just look at that why think something is wrong?"

I was talking to Southern, it's why I quoted him in my response. Don't invent meaning in my words, it's pretty freaking obvious I wasn't talking about Franklin just sitting on his butt not trying to get better.

So again... no, I actually didn't say the coaches don't want to get better. "LMAO"

Oh FFS, is it even possible for you to take a criticism and not immediately run to the strawman argument? WTF? Now because I mention that we didn't utilize the fade route, my meaning is we lost two games because of it? WTF is this asinine logic?

Seriously, if I say Tom Brady doesn't have great arm strength... would you then complain and concoct some nonsense argument that by my criticizing him about anything, I'm really saying he's not that good and other QBs would have won 9 Super Bowls and not 6?

FFS, it's a criticism... it's not saying Rahne is terrible and we would be 11-0 with anyone else. As for not being in practice... Is this the defacto argument anytime someone says something you don't like? "Well... you aren't a coach so you don't know anything". Great, thanks... I thought I was Bill Belichek.

Yeah, I have an opinion about it. Someone has a different opinion, that's fine... but you aren't arguing your opinion, you're arguing I am not entitled to mine because "I'm not at practice".
