I think you guys have lost a bit of perspective here...  I mean, Michigan was in the NCAA final.  That's a lot better than the NIT championship.

I'm not saying we can't enjoy the NIT championship, we absolutely can.  But I'd change places with Michigan this year in a heartbeat, much rather have been playing Villanova.

Michigan won the NIT in 2004. I wonder if they hung their banner that year? Also, West Virginia University won in 2007. Some guy named John Beilein was their head coach. Whatever happened to him? Now I remember. Right after he won the NIT with WVU, Michigan hired him as their head coach.

Roam, really? You’re giving this guy cred?

Not giving him cred, but dismissing the notion that Penn State somehow had a better year than Michigan basketball.  Come on now, they won the Big Ten tournament and were in the NCAA Final.  Good year for them, tip your cap and move on to next year.

Truth is what it is

I agree with Roam. Michigan had a good year in basketball and credit is due. However, the original post from billmurray was just commending the state of PA for a collection of good sport's accomplishments this year and not really a "chest pounding" for the NIT. It was a big adolescent stretch and a ridiculous attempt to come here and troll the original thread. Congratulations snike on your good year in basketball and too bad you didn't win the final. It just looks a little desperate for the flaming here right now since Harbaugh and football haven't met you and your fan base expectations yet. Go over to bucknuts and troll away cause you may beat them sometime this decade.

No loss of perspective here. I never said a Penn State NIT championship was better than a runner NCAA ass kicking by Villanova but Snike did comment that it was like a tallest midget award, and yes, I take offense to that. You’ve made your thoughts known  about the relevance of the NIT and you’ve explained your perspective, I get it. BUT, I will NOT stand with Snike as he continually posts his inflammatory anti PSU comments that include one of his recent posts that brought up the scandal.

If you are referring to North Carolina's third place banner, I believe they used to play a consolation game between the two teams that lost in the semifinals. So, it probably was the third place team in 1973.

My wisdom can be debated. I took the picture of the owl in my backyard. Last week, we learned why it was there when it swooped down and grabbed a goldfish out of our pond.

Bummer about the gold fish, cool story though.

Yeah, the pond was getting a little overpopulated and we need to reline the pond this summer. So, if it doesn't take too many fish, we'll be okay.
