I just love the comments by the experts when assessing the draft. It's obvious they have not watched enough games to provide a complete and accurate analysis of the prospects. They watch highlights, adopt another reporter's opinion about a player and otherwise fail to get the whole picture of the player. Obvious offender in this array is Colin Cowherd. Just read a comment by a reporter from Newsday about SB and ball security- "Generally good ball security, although lost two fumbles last season . . ." Reading that comment you get the impression that Barkley has issues holding on to the ball. I don't think SB fumbled in 2017, and may have fumbled only 4 times in over 600 touches as a runner,80+ receptions. Whatever these clowns get paid-it's too much for their lack of attention to detail. The point is that if you want to criticize, be accurate in the criticism. Yes SB does look for the homerun and loses yards.
The only thing is Colin Cowherd is not a draft expert. He's merely a op-ed radio personality paid to get people talking.
He says as much on his show, that he's no expert but says what he thinks
He doesn't seem to be thinking too well, Roam.
Yeah, well it's all opinion. Everyone thought Blair Thomas was can't miss and look what happened. I'm sure people thought Rashan Salaam and Curtis Enis were going to have tremendous pro careers too.
You never know.
You know evaluating players for the NFL better than me Roam but for the eye test it looks like Barkley has much quicker feet than any RB I’ve seen since Adrian Peterson plus he can catch the ball out of the backfield which is something you have to do if you want to play in the NFL, I think he’s perfect for what’s needed in a RB in the NFL, he may be even better in the NFL? I sure hope so lol
Talent and hard work are certainly important in having a successful career, but luck is also important. First, a player needs to stay healthy for long period of time. Just as important is having a coach/organization that can use a players talent. There are coaches/general managers who draft a player who doesn't exactly fit their system and they try to shoehorn them into their system rather than adapt the system to the players or just passing on that player.
