Just heard that they are entertaining the expansion from 4 teams to 8 teams in 2022. I wasn't clear on how it would breakdown, but it sounded like it would include conference champions first and then go from there. I am sure we will hear more on this after the season is ended.
PS: Heard this on ESPN
They see the writing on the wall, I don't think this happens if fans and analysts weren't getting upset.
Simple fact is there aren't many fans or people on TV that defend this system at all, no one seems to like it and/or regard it as fair. Heck, I've seen a few people even say "The BCS was better than this"
It just ain’t right when teams like Oregon or USC win their conference and don’t make the playoffs and Alabama and ND sit at home because they lost or don’t play in the conference championship game and walk right into the playoffs, it stinks!
Unfortunately the voices of fans and analysts resonate more than the educators.

Without football many of these players would have never had the opportunity to meet those educators in the first place.
Nothing is stopping a player from leaving the team if they feel they want to focus more on their education. At a certain point they are responsible for themselves.
You're right, Roam. In addition, if a kid wants to focus on his education and still play football for the love of the game, he can always transfer to a school that offers good academics with a lower level football program that has no hopes of making the expanded playoffs.

Very naive statement. It’s easier for these kids to go to practice than suck it up and learn algebra. There are so many opportunities for education that sports aren’t necessary to encourage kids. Most community colleges are free or very cheap. Tons of trade schools have money available. Current players are blinded by the prestige, glamour, media attention, and the dream of going professional and are driven away from education from those forces. I don’t think Penn State is in the typical SEC group and educational priorities are leading the way. But the program made great by Joe Pa is an aberration compared to most big time programs.

you basically just disagreed with me, and then agreed with me with your next statements.
I said if doing both is too much these kids can leave and go focus on their education, you said it's naive...
...then proceeded to tell us that there are plenty of other type schools that they could go to. No kidding, I specifically stated they don't need to play sports to get an education and can leave the team to focus on it. 😂
Also... oh no, is it easier for them to practice??? Well let's make sure the little snowflake has it easy in life and never has to do anything that's a bit harder.

I continue to be entertained by your circular reasoning. 😁

Probably because you lack reading comprehension skills.
