I was looking over the future schedules and noticed we are playing some good teams like VT and Auburn but we are dropping Pitt. I think we are back to full strength so ain’t it time we drop some of these gimme games and play Pitt every year plus a team like Alabama or VT? Georgia plays Georgia Tech every year and they play teams like ND and they play Florida in Jacksonville every year so I think penn st needs to step up the schedule. I’d love to get the Tide back on the schedule every year because what a classic game and I know slick Nick would play because he loves big time big dawg games. Get rid of some of these gimme games. One gimme game a year.
Duke, New Mexico State, Southern Miss., and Western Carolina. That is Alabama's 2019 nonconference schedule. Which of those are the "Big Dawg Games" to which you refer?
We do not need to fill Pitt's rented stadium for them!
Can’t get anybody to play ‘em. Saban will play anybody anywhere anytime. Nobody these days wants to take a chance on a most likely loss. That’s not Alabama’s fault.
Considering Alabama can’t get anybody to play ‘em this would be the perfect time to get a 10 years deal done between Alabama and penn st. Man, wouldn’t it be great if we got this game going every year ?
The reason why nobody wants to play them is they won't travel to another teams home stadium.. .Usually if they are the away team that game is played in a big stadium on a neutral site.. .before all of u go Bama apologists go bonkers and bring up all the past series Bama doesn't do business like that anymore... I would love for one of those southern teams to come north to play the end of November... But it's never gonna happen ... They have the system tailor made to push their agenda and control the whole deal... Which is what they are doing.. This thing wont change for years... Bama's built in excuse for their cupcake non conference schedule is they play in the toughest conference in the country ... It's a farce and that's why I don't watch the playoffs ..
FD, good to hear from you, I was beginning to worry.

Just curious FD, who on here is a "go Bama apologists"? If my memory serves me correctly, the only one that ever claimed any ties to Bama was Roam. But I don't ever recall him being a Bama apologist. I might be mistaken though.

I agree with everything you're saying FD, especially about coming north in November to play! I'll go you one better (I know it can't happen), how about playing the National Championship game in Yankee Stadium in January, LMAO! In a game between Alabama & Clemson, played in a snow or ice storm, it might end in a scoreless tie!

Looking at our future schedules compared to other teams I don't see where PSU's is any different. Every team still has as you call them gimme games on their schedule. But one thing I do see as different is the our future schedule has added some quality opponents vs all gimme games. Auburn W Va, VT etc. Seems like they already did what you are saying. I would rather play those 3 teams than Pitt. What value does Pitt bring to the schedule? Certainly not any monetary value especially when we play them @ Pitt!
Also you mentioned Ga playing Fl in Jacksonville, that is a conference game not an out of conference game so it is not like the chose to put them on their schedule.
I’m saying leave Pitt on the schedule and play VT and other power 5 conference teams. I was using Georgia and Florida as an example of not having 1 more home game because both teams split the money. Florida plays Florida st every year and they’ll play Michigan. I agree with having 1 warm up game but not 2.

They can do that because the SEC only plays 8 conference games, so they have 4 OOC games to schedule. Georgia uses one of the for GT every year, and then has 3 OOC games left. In essence, the Big Ten plays 9 conference games every year so it's basically the same. Both Georgia and us have a guaranteed 9 Power 5 games every year, the only difference is they look like they are scheduling better because it's OOC when in actuality they do the same thing we do... guarantee 9 Power 5's every year.
I mean, if you look at Georgia's schedule last year outside those 8 conference games & GT... They played Austin Peay, Middle Tennessee, and UMass. Not exactly lighting the world on fire there. Sometimes they schedule a good team like ND or others, but as last year shows sometimes they schedule 3 patsies.
I wouldn't mind scheduling Pitt every year for rivalry's sake, but with only 3 OOC games to play with you'd be giving up a home game every other year. The SEC teams don't have to do that with their rivalries, because they only play 8 conference games. On the years where Georgia plays GT in Atlanta, they can just schedule 3 OOC home games to make up for it.
This article kind of highlights what Roam is saying.
Looking at Georgia’s OOC schedule the next few years they play play Ga Tech every year and play Oregon, Clemson, ND and UCLA.
Pitt can go fornicate themselves and put that on their key chain.
I agree BT II, Puck Fitt!
That’s the way I feel about Georgia bob but I still want to play ‘em every year. It’s good for college football for teams that hate each other to play plus the games usually sell out and the smack talk is fun. Just my opinion though. I do hope to start winning more games against the bullpups lol

I see what you're saying, Southern, but I'd much rather schedule one of our other historical "rivalry" schools such as Notre Lame, West Virginia, Boston College or Syracuse. If Pitt would agree to play, say 2 games at our place to every 1 game at their rented stadium I'd say ok. but that will never happen. Playing them off campus just doesn't make for that interesting of a "rivalry" game.

As I said Southern, they schedule 1 good team outside of their 8 conference games + GT... Pretty much the same as our 9 conference games (we always play Iowa from other division + 2 others). So both Penn State and Georgia schedule 8 conference games + 1 guaranteed game against GT & Iowa. I'd argue that recently Iowa is a better team in most years than GT.
From 2020 to 2025 our big OOC games are Virginia Tech (2020/2025), Auburn (2021/2022), and West Virginia (2023/2024). Those are good opponents, and could be highly ranked when we play. One difference I see is that Georgia usually schedules an FCS team, and we do not.
Iowa and Ga Tech are about the same competition IMO both being average at best teams.WV and Va Tech are average but auburn is part of the big dawg family. All I’m saying is Pittsburgh should be on the schedule and play another big dawg. Man it ain’t like Pitt is a powerhouse they’re an average football team. I’m not saying drop Pitt and schedule Alabama and Clemson in the same year I’m just saying step up the schedule and get rid of 2 gimme games and play an average team and one big dawg team. The big 10 has enough gimme games to do this.
BTW I want all power 5 big dawg teams to do this not just us.
Roam I wish all power 5 conferences would go to playing 10 conferences games, 1 gimme game and 1 tough game instead of all these garbage games.

Pitt does absolutely NOTHING for Penn state, from a competition or revenue standpoint! Pitt gains everything and PSU gains nothing from a home and home. Look at the attendance stats for 7 games:
Games Attendance Average
Penn St. 7 746,946 106,707
Pittsburgh 7 254,062 36,295
The years that PSU played them at Pitt we increased their attendance average by over 10,000! We get twice the amount in attendance form our spring scrimmage! Not to mention that sorry as Pitt makes PSU fans buy season tickets just to attend the PSU Pitt game!
If we only played 8 conference games I could see your point but, with the Big Ten schedule we already have plus the OOC additions, we don't need to add a charity event by playing Pitt! Which is all that game would be, a charity event for Pitts program!!! Na, not feeling it and damn sure not buying season tickets to Pitt for a charity event!! Sorry Brother!
Just a bunch of Pitt haters lol.
Just a bunch of Pitt haters lol.
Pretty much but, more so a Narluzzi hater even worse!!!
Go ahead, fire 'im up again SPF!
lol Isn't there a race you should be watching?
