Here's the way I see it:
1. Penn State is #1, always in my book. Doesn't matter who they play, even Alabama. If Alabama was undefeated and PSU was 0-7, even then I'd want our guys to get the upset and confidence!
2. I grew up watching Alabama football. They are in my blood, and I gained my Masters there... but they aren't Penn State.
3. North Texas... wouldn't say I root for them but when the score comes across the screen I let out a "good for you" when they win. LMAO
4. Oregon State... Live right near the stadium and go to a game every year. Basically my thought process there is they are the locals so I like to support them and hope they get good so we have some quality football here... and screw the Ducks.
Just to add a little context to my anecdote about the D & R fans:
The area I live in is the hard coal regions of NE PA (Aristes is about 30 miles to the SW). As far as college football fans, about 70% are PSU fans, 25% ND fans and maybe 5% split among other colleges (such as niccy for Rutgers, LOL). As a result, the rivalry between PSU fans and ND fans is pretty intense. Therefor, someone saying they pull for PSU, but they like ND when they aren't playing each other is akin to saying you're a D & an R. Just doesn't happen around here!

I couldn't say I'm a fan per se, but I did attend the Sun Bowl a few years ago when GT played USC. Silas Redd was playing for USC, so I rooted good and hard for GT. Fun game.
And I believe the Jackets won that game 😁
