@roaminglion the offense has been average at best since DA has been QB regardless of why. Everything isn’t his fault but the bottom line is we ain’t good on offense with him at QB , thats the facts. I still believe he’ll be good for the NFL…different kind of play.
@roaminglion Allar plays scared is all I said and there were a shit ton of people in the stadium saying the same thing on Saturday. The kid is extremely talented and has made some incredible throws but when it comes to big games he’s just like his head coach.
DA is not playing in the NFL to any great capacity; I'd say three years max; reason, he doesn't process information fast enough and he is not a run threat at the NFL level.
We are one of the highest rated offenses in college football with him at QB. When you say "thats the facts", what exactly are you using as facts? You're opinion?@roaminglion the offense has been average at best since DA has been QB regardless of why. FFS we average 180 to 190 yards per game on the ground and you keep saying nonsense like "we can't run when he is QB".
@roaminglion what did the offense do Saturday? Not shit!
"One of the highest rated offenses in college football" couldn't put the ball in the end zone for the whole game???? So much for that rating!
Moving the goalposts as usual. Talk about how the offense all year cant run, when shown thats BS now its all "well we didnt against OSU"@roaminglion what did the offense do Saturday? Not shit!
Yup, game came down to 2 possesions inside the 5."One of the highest rated offenses in college football" couldn't put the ball in the end zone for the whole game???? So much for that rating!
One possession he threw a great ball which the WR bounced right into the DBs hands, and the 2nd time we ran 3 times steaight up the gut.
Not sure how either is his fault.
The kid is apparently a superstar in practice just like he was at the football camps before he committed to PSU and earned his 5th star so I’m sure he’ll dazzle in scouting combines and get drafted a lot higher than he should be but that obviously doesn’t translate to productivity on the field unless he’s playing the NFL’s equivalent of Kent State. His short career as a starter will be littered with a lot of 25 of 32 for 140 yards type of games.
Give me Trace McSorley's stats against OSU. Love to here em since you all wax poetic about how good he was.The kid is apparently a superstar in practice just like he was at the football camps before he committed to PSU and earned his 5th star so I’m sure he’ll dazzle in scouting combines and get drafted a lot higher than he should be but that obviously doesn’t translate to productivity on the field unless he’s playing the NFL’s equivalent of Kent State. 2016: 8-23 / 154 yards
2017: 17-29./ 192 yards
So why are you guys always talking about how we need someone like McSorely, yet he had the same or worse numbers the first 2 times he played OSU.
Seems like the same thibg to me... great against most of the Big Ten, not great against the better ones. Yet DA sucks but he's great. Seems fair.
Someone noted that DA did throw a perfect ball that our receiver didn't come down with...Perfect ball shows up as a INT in the Stats not a TD.
There is 7 points and then we have the 1st and goal on the 3...Can't blame that series on DA either...14 points...and then the fumble...
It was a close game. We needed 2 more breaks. They got more than us. Not many teams are good enough to beat OSU when the breaks go to OSU.
We can beat most other teams when the breaks are unbalanced but OSU is not one of them.
And by 'Breaks' I might include officiating but also the bobbled balls that OSU caught.
If JF or the OC would have called better plays giving the offense a better chance at scoring a TD in the 4th quarter, we probably wouldn't be talking about Allar vs Pribula. Allar is the better QB, but JF is calling plays that better suits Pribula.
However, when they play the kind of game Allar is good at, it is a whole different story. Let's look at the USC game when they were down 20-6 and had NO choice but to cut Allar loose. He had some incompletions, but he kept the drives going:
down 20-6
5 plays, 75 yards......passes of 10,19,13 and 32 yards
down 20-13
8 plays, 90 yards......passes of 6,25, 34 and 16 yards
down 23-20
9 plays, 72 yards.....passes of 7,21 and 2 yards
down 30-23
12 plays, 75 yards....passes of 9,17,16 and 14 yards
I don't think we win that game if Pribula had to come in when we were down 20-6. We had to have a QB that could pass and keep time on the clock.
Against Ohio State? I think the way Ohio State played that day, and the way our defense played, Pribula may have done better for us....maybe. But if JF would have cut Allar loose, taken shots down field up 10-0....we go into halftime 17 or 24 to 14 and probably added another 7 or 14 in the second half.
Roam....Why the heck would you run the ball 3 times up the gut down 7, late in 4th quarter and you have a QB who is MOST likely going give - lets say #44 Warren for example ( LOL) 4 decent shots at bringing one of those passes down for a TD! We probably would have faired better if we were down 14 and had NO choice but to pass the ball to save time.....like we did vs USC.
Allar is our guy.....JF and/or the OC just don't get it! I like Pribula, I think he will do fine, but don't expect to win a National Championship under him. I think Penn State is still in a very good position to play for the title if they just play the kind of offense Allar is meant to play. I don't think this is brain surgery. They have to stop the nonsense of thinking we don't have good WR's. We have plenty of kids who catch the ball! And if they don't, we have a chance at a pass interference call which is about a 50/50 shot the way these refs throw laundry nowadays!
Our defense held Ohio State to 20 points and even spotted our offense 7 points. You have to win that game!!!!
GO STATE!!!!
@mtnittanylion I don’t believe we would’ve been down 20-6 if Pribula was the starter especially playing USC defense they’re not good on defense. As I said in an earlier post, I don’t care why but the bottom line is this shit with DA has been going on for 2 years now…we can’t score TD’s with him on the field consistently. This isn’t a sanctioned team either we have studs at every position when McSorely had defensive players playing on the OL big difference and we could run the football more consistently with McSorely at QB. Ive seen DA play 4 big games and we lost all 4 0-4…. 2 losses to Ohio St 1 loss to Michigan and a terrible loss to Ole Miss where he played like garbage and I’m trying to be nice he stunk up the field. We can beat the rest of these teams we play with 44 playing QB so let’s get Pribula on the field now he’s the future of the team. We’ll finish 11-1 regardless who plays QB but it will look much better with Pribula plus get him some good playing time for the playoffs Pribula definitely gives us a better shot in the playoffs. Again, everything ain’t his fault he’s just not a good fit for the offense that’s the way it goes sometimes.
How did McSorley do against Ohio State in 2016? How about 2017? Same as Allar, yet you continually spout off that he was better, and somehow we were better at running the ball with him as QB.@mtnittanylion I don’t believe we would’ve been down 20-6 if Pribula was the starter especially playing USC defense they’re not good on defense. As I said in an earlier post, I don’t care why but the bottom line is this shit with DA has been going on for 2 years now…we can’t score TD’s with him on the field consistently. All when stats show we were worse. We average 190 yards on the ground this year, we averaged 160 in 2016 WITH BARKLEY. How did we lose in 2017? Stuffed run on 4th down. How did we lose in 2018? Same shit, different day.
Allar was 10-2 his first year, and this year he will be 11-1 or maybe 10-2. Somehow you have convinced yourself that this means Allar stinks and McSorely was great.
Fact: McSorley lost to top 10 teams too, and the only time he beat OSU he played like chit.
Is this some sort of reality distortion field?
@roaminglion McSorley scored a TD running the ball Roam and got us a big 10 championship. We also won a game against Ohio St and really should’ve won 2 more but at least we had a chance. We’ve played 8 games and the offense has stunk 16 quarters and Pribula had to get us out of a jam at Wisconsin. After Saturday I’ve lost all confidence in DA just like I did with Hack. Let’s not waste another game and get Pribula on the field. I know James Franklin won’t pull him but it’s the right call. You seeing something I ain’t.
He was 9 of 23 and averaged 3.3 yards a run. Stop it, in no world would anyone with any sense of football claim he played well in 2016 vs Ohio State. We won because of our defense and a blocked FG. We then lost in 2017 after leading, and lost in 2018 after leading. I guess if we had a different QB in those times we would have won? Or do you save that BS for Allar?@roaminglion McSorley scored a TD running the ball Roam and got us a big 10 championship. We also won a game against Ohio St and really should’ve won 2 more but at least we had a chance. @roaminglion McSorely won some big games and DA hasn’t won any in 2 years. We’re not going to beat top teams with him at QB the proof is there the last 21 games. We’ve played 4 top teams the last 2 years and DA has been awful, that’s the facts! It’s time to give Pribula a chance.
Also, if you believe this offense run by DA is better than the offense McSorley run you’re seeing things other people ain’t. He’s not good and has been awful.
I really don’t understand this love affair over Pribula. He had two good drives against Wisconsin not exactly a “Big Dawg” sure he resembles McSorley. Sure McSorely beat OSU with a huge play from Special Teams. Drew has won games against B10 opponents that McSorley lost too and he beat Michigan when they were down much like they are this year. He also got blown out by them. Just because you have a player that reminds you of a last player doesn’t mean they’ll just be successful. Once Pribulas legs get limited there’s not much to him. He makes risky throws. DA will leave and everyone in here will be calling for Ethan Gronkemeyer half way through next season there’s no pleasing you guys.
@kularrow our best offensive play at the QB position come from #44 got the ball down to the 3 and #15 can’t get 3 yards. Roam is comparing McSorely to DA I’m comparing Pribula to DA and going on the second half of the Wisconsin game Pribula fits the offense better imo. Pribula opens up the run and passing game from what I saw the offense actually looked like an offense that can score. The schedule is also below average imo and Ohio St was beatable if we had good QB play. I said Saturday give DA the first half but if he struggled give Pribula a chance what did we have to lose the offense was stinking up the field. Pribula is the better QB and y’all will see next year when our offense is dominating the scoreboard just wait and see. 4 big games 4 disappointing games we couldn’t even compete on offense. We’re not even competitive with DA against the heavyweights. Just my opinion though lol
We got 4 games left that we can win with our 3rd string QB and we will probably struggle with DA playing QB. If I’m wrong I’ll be more than happy to admit it.
I thought you said USC was a big game? Now you change your tune because this is an argument that DA stinks and not that Franklin can't win big games? Funny how that works...@roaminglion McSorely won some big games and DA hasn’t won any in 2 years. We’re not going to beat top teams with him at QB the proof is there the last 21 games. We’ve played 4 top teams the last 2 years and DA has been awful, that’s the facts! It’s time to give Pribula a chance.
Iowa and WVU were ranked last year, but I guess they don't count either.

im gonna once again call bullshit on your anti west coast bias. Whashington is actually the 16th ranked team in the country by PFF and is peaking at the wrong time for us and they have a very good defense.
@psujoe you’ll see when Washington gets that ass kicked Saturday night. We can beat Washington with any QB on the team. Our teams is stout it’s just the QB that struggles. Defense is young but very good.
USC is always a good win.
Didn’t you pick USC to beat us? I picked us to win and we also beat UCLA and Washington get beat down Saturday night.
