Never fished the Juniata...or Juanita as I heard the one Sports talking head call it, but always wish I had my tackle whenever I drove up through the area.
Too many distractions! James has been focused on facilities, program upgrades, contracts, recruiting and establishing the run game (LOL). Now he seems focused on NIL issues. This is all well and good and appropriate for the CEO. As I've been saying, he just needs to butt out and let his coordinators do the actual in game coaching. If they get the job done, we'll be fine and on our way to being "elite". If they don't, as CEO, he needs to fire their arses and hire someone who can.

@roaminglion I trust you roam but how do we know for sure he’s meddling? Maybe he’s telling him what to call through radio? It’s not like we see him in Yurcich ear on the sidelines. I believe the more James Franklin is involved the better the teaM is because last year james Franklin was just standing there by himself looking confused and he’s never done that? Maybe we can connect the dots because Yurcich has always passed first or do what works?
It’s just hard for me to believe that James Franklin won’t let Yurcich call the plays when he knows what they were doing ain’t working, that just don’t make sense, right? Now I’m from the old school just win the dang game I don’t care who gets the credit, just win

It's obvious he's telling him to run, you could see Yurcich on the sidelines looking frustrated. You think it's a coincidence that YC just started calling his offense completely different from the past 7 years since he arrived? Even with a good passing attack at his disposal?
Add to that Franklin talking about "establishing the run game" ad nauseum. Like, all the freaking time as if it's a mantra. YC even said once last year "So to your question, I think you're on it. I think you understand it probably a little bit deeper than some. Are you running plays just to run plays? ... That's a fine line,"

I don't know, Southern, from what I've seen, James usually is standing there by himself on the sideline and looking confused. I still think he has Yurcich on a short leash under orders to establish the run. That severely limits what plays he can call! I agree with Roam 1000%. Yurcich clearly looks frustrated if not down right disgusted!
How is it that you guys all have access to the PSU locker room, coaches rooms and the field during the games? Is there a club that gives you this access? All I ever get to do is watch the games on TV. You guys get to see all the interaction between the coaches so you know things that I just don't know. I am so envious. Or could it possibly be you are just listening to radio and TV sports jocks and just parroting that "info" back. Nah, that can't be it. Nobody would do that.
@psugrad81 I didn’t mean to sound like I had any insight. I’m just a fan watching on tv but when Moorhead was the OC him and James Franklin were always standing together cutting up especially when we were winning.i know the OC calls the plays but Roam does make since on everything he said. It’s not fun when you’re losing so I’m sure James Franklin is frustrated and that’s what I see on some of the Saturdays when we lost. I really got a good feeling about this year especially having our starting QB back Clifford should have a great season and hopefully gets a shot at the NFL he’s got a good OC teaching him. 11 or more wins 81 are on the way 🙏

Or could it possibly be that we are giving our opinion based on what we see with our own eyes, what reporters say, what Franklin says, what and what Yurcich has said. Taking all that into account and forming our own opinion about what is transpiring. Nah, it can't be that... no one would do that!

My guess is MY is gone after this year by his own choice if JF doesn't give him the reins to run the O this year. If that's the case it's a smart move by MY.
Going forward another year, it would not surprise me to see JF gone if the team is not top 4-5.
Seems to be the same pattern unfortunately, always waiting till next year. I've gotten to the point where it's the hell with JF; I just want to see his ACs succeed at PSU or somewhere else.
Nothing compares to the Juniata River!! I grew up on THAT river fishing for smallmouth and IMO, the Susquehanna doesn't even come close to producing afternoons like the Juniata can.....and I fish the Susquehanna quite a bit. Being a smaller river, I think the flow is much faster producing more oxygenated water making the fish much more active. Whatever the case is, fish the Juniata once in your lifetime!!
Yep, and I am in THAT club! And let me tell you, watching a game from the sidelines is a pain in the butt! Fun to see what is going on with the team and coaches, but a horrible way to watch a good game. You have stay in one spot for the most part and unless the action is in front you, you are watching the game on the screen.
Funny story.... For my fathers 70th Bday, I got him a pass with me. A friend of mine has worked the sidelines for ever and gets me down on the field if I want to. He got my dad a pass for me. My father loved Joe, but always said if he ever had a chance, he would tell Joe how to coach better. Well, during pregame, Joe walked up next to my dad, stood about 2 feet away and I said to him, here is your chance big guy, tell him how it is!!! He just froze and stood there!!

Just like last year - MAYBE not quite as good - they have enough talent coming back to make an honest run at the Big10 title. The schedule favors them and having Ohio State at home really helps. I mean outside of Ohio State, there is not one other powerhouse team on that schedule. Michigan and Auburn away will be a challenge, but neither team is ahead of Penn State when it comes to overall talent.
And sorry Southern, I know you support JF, but if he lets Purdue snatch a game from us, he needs to stay in West Lafayette and hang out downtown at Charlies Chocolate Factory bartending!!

@mtnittanylion I do love James Franklin but I love Penn St more and 11-11 the last 2 years ain’t going to cut it brother. James Franklin needs another 11 win season this year to get people back on the bandwagon because winning solves 99.99999% of your problems in sports 😂
Southern...........he needs to have this team sitting at 7-0 when Ohio State comes to Beaver Stadium!!!!! This nonsense of loosing winnable games consistently has to come to an end or he needs to come to an end! I truly believe he has been a great asset to Penn State and has done a great job taking over this program. But time is up, last year was a complete disaster ( IMO ) and I think somebody like Saban, maybe Day and Smart would have faired out way better under the same circumstances. Love going to bowl games, but we are going to the wrong bowl games now and we need step it up!

@cardinal I believe we’ll come out strong and give Purdue a beat down. I’ve just got a good feeling we’ll have a great season this year Clifford coming back just might be what we needed to get back on track. We’ve got the players and coaches we just need them to get all on the same page.
just got back from the Atlanta motor speedway and what a race I just wish the nascar officials would let ‘em race back to the checkered flag like they use to. AMS hit a home run with the new track it was awesome. It’s a mile and a half Talladega and it is fast. Anybody ever want to go just let ole southern know and we’ll definitely hook up. My brothers, football season is right around the corner 🇺🇸🍺😁
This season & next must be measurably better. Otherwise, Franklin MUST go.
