Now the defence looking confused today makes we question coaching.   They were confused too much?

Take a look at the stats, the defense has been getting gashed by everyone.

Southern, is your point that we had good offensive lineman as evidenced by the fact that they went pro?  But the offensive line as a whole was not good?  And that is the coaches fault.  But Moorehead was good.  I agree we had ofensive lineman go pro and I have to conclude that experts recognized they were good.  But I don't know how to mate that with my impression that line play was poor.  Maybe it wasn't poor?  Maybe the blocking scheme was poor?  You are not proposing line play was good?  I don't remember anyone raving over our OL in the JF era.  Right now they seem to think the LT is the real deal.

Steve Gonzalez was also on the OL another bad ass

Did any of them get better while they were here? No. They all started early and played, then became late round draft picks that needed coaching and development at the next level. Sorry, but WTF are you talking about calling them studs?

Sure... McGovern was a stud from day one, but no one else was drafted higher than round 7... if they were drafted at all.

The years before, who Franklin inherited? In the  Same amount of years we had 8 offensive linemen all taken higher than any of those guys you've mentioned except McGovern. 8.  So don't tell me we're developing crap,  No we were developing kids...   Almost 3 times as many drafted into the NFL, and all higher draft rounds not 7th.

Limegrover was here only 4 years Roam and put all them dudes in the NFL. Was it a great OL, no but I was pretty good. All y’all say you can’t run the ball unless you have a good OL regardless who’s running the ball and I show y’all Barkley, Sanders and journey Brown ran the ball down teams throats then you come up with an excuse why they were able to get the yardage. I’ll say it again, you don’t sniff the NFL the greatest athletes in the world unless you’re a bad ass in college. Just to make the practice squad in the NFL you gotta be a bad ass. I’m disappointed in the loss just like everybody else is but we have 7 games left and the team has got better we just not as good as Michigan or Ohio St but we can beat the rest and that needs to be the goal because I don’t believe in giving up. Go out and take the frustration out on Minnesota that’s all you can do.

Post Game Press Conference,  I interpret that JF was mad enough that he was a bit out of character on two things.

When asked about the line rotation he was quick and short that Landon got hurt pregame.  Maybe more to that story other than we could have used him.  Normal JF might have said 'he couldn't go, we don't talk about injuries, next question'.

The one where he was about as clear about player underperformance ever was 'we need to get bigger and stronger, everyone thinks they are Aaron Donald, there has been one Aaron Donald in 25 yrs'.  At first I took that as you need to eat more and spend time lifting.  But Aaron represents a ripped player that plays under weight at DT.  I have to think that means that our dietician and Defensive line need to get some weight on.  Now if I was a DT I'd especially take it as a recommendation.   It may also be extrapolated to Offensive Line but I think that is a stretch.

I think that comment was about as direct as we've seen.  You got dominated, you better bulk up.  If you are going to play D like that you will have trouble keeping weight on ;-(

He was in a bad mood, 'sorry I'm late, I was waiting on the stats, I still don't have them'.  Who is responsible for his stats?  Surely one of his underlings can check ESPN??

Just stop.  We had twice as many offensive linemen in the NFL in the previous 9 years to Franklin's 9.   Please explain why he recruits at a better level, but only has half the amount of offensive linemen in the draft that we had with Paterno and O'Brien.

Please explain how he seemingly gets better recruits, but has half as many in the draft.

And saying it was the RPO is not an excuse, it is literally the freaking point of running an rpo offense. It is why certain teens certain teams run that style, to compensate for poor offensive line play. I don't care if those guys went to the NFL, it doesn't mean they played well as a unit here. Quite simply, our offensive line has sucked for years and the only time it's been "good"  Is when we had a running quarterback or a generational talent at running back.

@roaminglion  I guess you forgot about the death penalty sanctions that James Franklin walked into. BOB had a goldmine compared to what James Franklin had when he got here. They were having to take DL and make OL out of ‘em because of the sanctions. Can’t even compare. Had BOB stayed at Penn St he would’ve had losing seasons he got out of town cause he knew what was coming. He didn’t do a great job of coaching imo he just held the team together which he does deserve credit for that but coaching he was average.

check the stats Roam and you’ll see these 3 RB’s kicked ass at Penn St and they had to have blocking to get these stats. 2 of these studs went on to the NFL just like the guys blocking for ‘em. Jorney Browm may have made it but his football days got cut short. These stats don’t lie!

Anyone who knows football would repeatedly tell you that yes, in fact stats do lie. What that means is they don't tell the whole story, and if you use stats without context then you aren't telling the whole story.

 Case and point:

Team A - 440 yards and 38 minutes ToP

Team B - 230 yards and 22 minutes ToP

Who won? Team B was Penn State when we beat OSU 24-21in 2016. Yeah, stats can lie if you give zero context.

Honestly, this just tells me you're wearing complete James Franklin rose colored glasses. I mean, just stop with this nonsense. Bill O'Brien left because he knew the roster was bare? He freaking came here knowing sanctions were coming! Give me a break

He was offered a ton of money to coach in professional football, that is why he left.  He was named the head coach of the Texans. Oh, and by the way his son had serious medical issues that could be better handled in Houston. That was another reason he left.  But I guess you'd rather believe that the guy who came here to take over a horrendous situation was somehow scared 2 years later.

That' a line of complete BS if I've ever heard it.

@roaminglion  absolutely good buddy! We’re all frustrated and want this offense to get going. It’s how we lost that’s frustrating because had we lost in a shootout like Alabama did it’s easier to take. It was a bad sports weekend for me 😂  10 wins ain’t good enough unless Michigan or Ohio St is one of the wins. Just gotta keep fighting but I’m assuming James Franklin knows he has to win one of those games. The Falcons did get a win which we needed bad.
