I have this strange feeling that we not only win, but win convincingly. Similar to the Auburn game actually. And to be honest that thought scares me as I know Michigan is a decent team that could kick our butts.
I just keep thinking of last year. Michigan was a better team last year than this year and we were a worse team last year than this year and we were leading most of the game and lost on one broken play to a tight end.
Bottom line we need Auburn Clifford and not Northwestern Clifford if we have a chance to make me a prophet. Keys to the game: stop Corum. That’s no easy task. Michigan doesn’t do anything fancy. They wear you down with blunt-force trauma and count on beating you in the 4th quarter. We need to hold Corum under 120 yards. Make McCarthy beat us.
He has not seen a defense like this yet. We must contain his runs. Gotta gotta gotta spy him. Also need to have our fastest linebacker on their TE as he is his safety valve. For Penn state it’s all gonna come down to the line and the receivers getting separation. Michigan is gonna sell out to stop the run. Clifford is gonna have to stay upright and make completions under pressure. He cannot throw off his back foot in this one.
I don’t expect our RBs to do much in the first quarter but should break a couple in the third and fourth. In a game like this Allen is your guy. He is much more patient and can make guys miss and set up blocks. Use Singleton in passing downs and he may break one.
This is a game that can define a season for better or for worse. Michigan is not as intimidating a place to play as Auburn so we should be good there.
Let’s just stop saying “next year” and win this f***ing thing!
Penn State wins by 10+. That's my story and I am sticking to it.
Just get out with a win and ole southern will be happy as a big ole fat rat in a cheese factory. Let’s go Penn State
Man oh man. So far this ain’t my weekend in football or baseball. Pebblebrook lost, Temple lost, Villa Rica lost and the Braves lost and are down 2-1. All my teams today got destroyed but it can be all good as long as Penn State wins tomorrow and it would be nice to see GT get another win. Friday ain’t been good to ole southern, smh. I’m bout ready to put my foot up Leroy Hoods ass 42-6 is unacceptable 😡
I'm counting on Manny & Mike to make the right calls. Hope Jimmy steps back, let's them do their thing & just leads the cheering section!
I am ready to run through a wall after watching this!!! Lets gooooooooo!!!!!!
@cavensprawl AWESOME! Game last year leaves a bad taste so let’s get it back this year! We gotta get back to playing 500 with Michigan and Ohio State
Hey SPF! Finally was up the thruway (going wine tasting around Keuka Lake) stopped at the Love's across the way from the Del Lago Casino, no chicken gizzards. Figured it they had 'em anywhere in NY state, it'd be in wine country right by the casino. No such luck.
@been-there-ii Gotta get you down here for Talladega and we’ll get you some of the best chicken gizzards out there my friend. 😂
We talked in another post about 1994 and what a great year it was for me. We went to a haunted house on the day of the Michigan game back in 94 and we won that day and went on to go 12-0 and as a family we’re goi g to watch the new Halloween movie tonight and I want to watch that movie with a win today. The last time we beat a top 5 team on the road was 1994 against Michigan so let’s get it done again today against Michigan. Everything is lined up for us to get the win today then we can tell remoh he was wrong again 😂 Let’s go Penn St baby 🍺🇺🇸😁
Homer knows!I was wrong remoh.
my man Dartmouth was in the house baby
Odds are James Franklin ain’t going anywhere so imo if the offense keeps struggling he needs to fire Yurcich. Defense got destroyed because they were on the freaking field all day. I hope Yurcich can get things turned around but from what I see it ain’t gettin any better. We can beat most teams in the big 10 off big plays but beating Ohio St and Michigan we’re goi g to have to be good on offense and not rely on big plays. I watched Clifford in 2019 and he didn’t stink like he does now. Something is just not there and that’s Yurcich fault.
@southern-psu-fan Gentlemen .. about all I can say is SSDD. How many O and D coaches in Mr Franklin's tenure.? He is a great recruiter but no game day coach. OSU coaches have been there forever and when they do make a change, like on D, they get a winner. I think our players give their all but the coaching is questionable to me. PSU will always be second tier unless there is a huge change. Mr Harbaugh sure turned Michigan around but we seemingly can't. PSU should retire the number 14 as that seems to currently create Dr Jeckel and Mr Hyde quarterback results. IMHO Mr Allar should be in there now ... with the other frosh and build a team. We seem to always have one piece, maybe two, of a team and not the others. We remain an 8 cylinder firing on 5. I think O$U players are the best paid in the college football world, maybe Alabama and Georgia too via NIL. I'm sure we do well but when you get the biggest $, best coaches, great fans and a sure shot at the NFL and awards ...where will a young kid go? I have grown to dislike the whole deal and like today I don't watch just tape it and if there is a miracle or actual game I'll watch it and FF over the BS. Other wise I just delete. No fan? Well I have followed PSU and college football for well over 60 years ... this is not the Penn State I knew. Ya'll take care, stay healthy and best wishes to you and your families. At future game times I'll be doing important stuff like clipping the dog's toenails !! : )))

The defense sucked from the first snap of the game till the end and I really don’t think being on the field too long had any effect on how bad they were. They were just plain terrible in basic football fundamentals LIKE TACKLING !
Minnesota QB Tanner Morgan carted off in loss
hope this kid is ok. I’m confused on how I’m typing this I was trying to copy because I couldn’t copy the whole article lol
@psujoe They definitely need to get better. I’m afraid what we see is what we get on both sides of the ball unless we have a QB to step up.
Ah, fans. Hot and cold. Yurcich is a God, a miracle worker. We are worried he'll leave for a HC job. 3 weeks later lets fire him. Some just want JF to let him coach because he's great. Ultimately it is managements fault but management looks great when players execute. If they don't execute you are left trying to get them to perform or replace them with someone with less potential? We do not have good enough recruits, like some schools, that we can just say 'line up and play'. We need to plan, practice and execute better. If you asked me for 2-3 'go-to' players I'd put the punter 1st. Sad. No disrespect. The defense makes some big plays but they lack consistency. I'm still afraid it starts in the trenches. We have good enough skill players to be top 10.
That was an ugly loss and sometimes it feels like we are playing hard but not as a team.
Punter then who?
5-1 is better than I expected atv this point but they just get my hopes up and then crush me.
@underlion underlion, the recruiting rankings say we have the studs to play with anybody. The team is loaded with 4* players and a few 5*. Moorhead and Rahne didn’t have a problem winning 11 games. Clifford had beat Michigan 2 times and we’ve lost the last 2 while Yurcich was the OC. Just saying
I’m not worried about Minnesota at all and like I said, I hope Yurcich gets the offense going I just don’t think we can beat Michigan or Ohio St with this offense and imo we need to beat one of ‘em every year to have a great year. If somebody is satisfied with 9 or 10 wins then this will work and that’s fine nothing wrong with it but I want more but that’s just me. If we played Michigan close I can take that but getting blown out like today is unacceptable imo with the talent that’s on the team. Just wanted to be clear on what I was trying to say buddy 😂
We don't have AL, Clemson, GA recruits. Not even close. Our last 5 classes average 10-15? I agree that qualifies us to 'play with', but not be dominant. We have about the same recruits as UM I think. You may be consistent with your appraisal of Yurcich. Some have a mancrush on him and blame JF for not letting him run the offense. Who knows. Building teams from individuals takes skill, psychology, luck. We do not have AL's recruits and things have not 'come together' for us. If this team outperformed like BOB's teams we would be in good shape. Today nobody performed except maybe the band major and the punter.
Hope a good butt kicking gets their attention. They need an ambulance called to the proverbial woodshed.

We’re not Iowa or Purdue , WE DO recruit well enough to compete with Meatchicken and since Franklin has been here we have routinely out recruited the Wolverines and been ranked higher than them in the recruiting rankings.
Unfortunately we have a coach that does less with more and fails to develop the talent once it gets to State College.
I think it is fair to say that we had great expectations for JF as he clearly was going to be better than JoePa at media relations and recruiting. He has been better and it seemed to get us out of the sanction era quickly.
Recruiting has leveled off because he hasn't won the big game, or made the playoffs.
He has had lots of coaches leave for better jobs. That would seem to be a positive coment from people with $ that should be more informed than us.
His students seem to have stayed out of trouble, maybe even better than JoPas the last 10 years.
The NCAA has told us where college football is going. It is not the Penn State, Paterno, Grand Experiment way.
Football pays for everything, AND attracts normal students.
My point? I guess I'm wondering. What is the brand? Is this good enough so long as the stadium is full and we get our BIG10 $.
I want it all but .... not my monkey.
