Glad we got that one under our belts.  Now, I wonder if there will be changes to the staff on the defensive side of the ball??

Sure would love to see coach chaos come back to work with the DL.  That doesnt look like its gonna happen though.

Short career time wise, been at a lot of places; is he an exceptional recruiter?

My family and I are so excited to come to Happy Valley and join the Penn State family,” Diaz said in a released statement. “The opportunity to lead Linebacker U is an honor and I will work every day to uphold that tradition. Penn State’s defense has been among the nation’s best, both historically and under Coach Franklin. I will continue to pursue excellence with our defensive unit on a daily basis. I can’t wait to get on the field with this talented group, to get to know them, and to ultimately develop them as football players, students and young men.”

After reading up a bit, sounds like he's a well respected coach; wins just didn't happen in Miami. IMO though Miami never was shit until their incredible run under JJ, DE and the blip with LC; but nothing before and during the last 20 years. I really don't see MC doing any better just from a historical perspective unless the Board really gets in behind the program with modernization of program and facilities. And its basically a commuter school.  IMO for Miami to get back to the top, it becomes a full fledged semi pro caliber team.

I wonder if the cold winters will do him in. Coach Diaz was born and raised in Miami, played at Florida State, and coached at mostly southern schools. This new job will be a big change for his family.

For 9 years he was in either NC State or Middle Tennessee... While not extreme cold, both locations aren't Miami sunny weather type areas. I am sure he'll be fine.

@sky lol Cold is all a matter of perspective. My Aunt live up in the Fla panhandle, used to bitch about how cold it was there in the winter....used to have to put a sweatshirt on and everything! Head up to Tsugaville, he'll show you cold. Met a logger from up that way, used to make a small fire under his skidder's oil pan to warm the oil so he could get it to turn over, to me, that sounded like cold weather.

If he's in PA long enough, he'll get used to it.

Great hire, he will do great things here!! No coach stays forever and once he builds his creds at Penn State he is likely to be a HC again. Its just the nature of coaching in this day and age.

Believe it or not, that's not uncommon up in theses parts.

Alrighty then, you are going to have to explain this one to me like I'm a 5 year old.  I understood the JJ being Jimmy Johnson, but the DE and the blip ????  no clue, with LC ??  still no clue.  And who or what is MC?

Great Hire! Now JF needs to let MD be MD and not force him to be BP2.
