I think our pass receivers are much more talented than the results show.  It seems that many teams manage to get very mediocre receivers wide open due to the scheme and the design of their pass plays. PSU seems to rely on speed or athletic ability.  Not much danger of a screen pass or a wheel route. Do you folks that attend the games and can survey the whole field see it differently?

Nice article about WR in an RPO system...

http://insider.afca.com/the-5-best-characteristics-successful-wide-receivers-possess-in-a-rpo-offense/

Lot of good RPO write ups and video break downs on you tube.

One thing that seems to be common is the ability to read and understand what a defender is trying to do... With this offense it seems everyone needs to be seeing the same thing.

So that article suggests receivers are evaluating coverage and have options just like the QB.  That would suggest that it takes some time to develop receivers and pure athletes may not excel, some brains, experience, coaching involved.

So we can say they are performing or lacking brains/experience/coaching.  If we say they are not performing then we have young to some degree but still not a great excuse so we are left with not learning.

Or it is not the receivers.

Could be a lot of little things, receivers, QB, Offensive line ... include coaching with all of the aforementioned

@underlion

If PSU is still running the same RPO pass package it relied upon the WR reading defensive keys for their routes.
