Save your breath, this was not because the team is young and ahead of schedule!! Poor decisions were made and the OC is not on top of his game! Least year Ohio State showed us ALL how to come from behind on the road, late in a game and win.
Clifford needs to slow down and think. There was NO need to throw any of those intercepions today!! NONE! Especially the last game ending one when it was only 3rd down!
There were some bad calls from the officials today, but more from the OC in the red zone.
Minnisota....Ugh!
Out coached? No. Outplayed? No. This team self destructed today. Bad throws (at least 9i counted). Bad decisions by QB (those ints and fade routes were terrible though two were interference). Dropsy fever today. And #1 is the DBs played terribly. This team got caught looking ahead.
They were not ready!!! They should have ALL stayed home!
Beat Ohio State and nothing else matters!
GO STATE!
They were either looking back at the rankings or looking ahead. They were not prepared to play on the road in the Big 10 today. They showed that they could move the ball. Just was not into it enough from the opening kick off to the end. Despite that, they had their chances at the end to win it. Two bad calls on the last drive. It's a shame the refs impacted the ending like that. Also should have taken points earlier in the game when they had the chance. This is how PItt and Michigan felt when they lost to us. The "Been Brothers". Would have, Could have and Should have "Been"
I agree the refs cost us the game..., NOT. The players lost the game on the field and the coaches lost it in preparation and game time management. MN played a helluva game and deserved the win (period).
To say they can’t move the ball is wrong. They moved it all day. They couldn’t finish the drives and that’s what the problem was on offense
That’s what happens when you have RB problems you can’t get in the end zone. I’m watching LSU and Alabama and our RB’s besides Cain would never see the field. I think we’ve missed on a few, it happens. I do believe Cain is the real deal.
Clifford had Brown wide open on the 20 and he could have walked to the 10 yard line and them some. Then PSU would have been looking at a 4th and 8 for a 1st or only a 4th and 10 for the go ahead score. This stuff of just throwing the ball up for grabs needs to stop if he is going to win the big games! There was NO reason for that last pass!
I don't want to watch the OHIO STATE game....PSU is going to lose by 40 if they don't fix their pass defense!

Totally agree Bill, we were feeling good about ourselves and that #4 ranking. Need to get a chip back on our shoulder and get back to work. The secondary needs to figure out how to play defense on 3rd and long, because if the DL isn't bailing them out it's big play after big play.
Boobie leaving early for the NFL is showing up on the field. That’s the first bad game for Clifford but he still played good enough for us to win. We just ain’t good enough to have the stupid penalties, having players suspended and having turnovers especially in a rebuilding year but we can still have a great year.
MN Played great, we didn't and yet we were within a play or a call of winning. It is hard not to feel like the officials took the game from us but we make 1 of 20 other plays and we still win. We take the extra point, kick two FG's we win. It was a perfect storm for MN.
They call very few penalties all game and then they call that offensive PI? Feels like the hand of Emmert.
I think its time to stop citing excuses, either the team on the field wins or loses. Most folks weren't concerned when Boobie decided to leave and if he wasn't having a good NFL year, nobody would even mention him. Point is PSU can't say next man up and hasn't been able to for a f'ing long time even before sanctions. Today, the players sucked for the most part and the coaching and adjustments were just as bad. We were damn lucky to even a shot a winning that game.

We weren't lucky to have a shot at winning this game, we played like crap and let them beat us.
I'll give as much credit to Minnesota as I think they deserve, but IMO we beat ourselves and played the worst game we've played in a while
Just another example of how hard it is to go undefeated. You just have bad games sometimes.
I hate to be the Debbie Downer but did anyone really think we were a #4 or 5 team? If I recall, most of the prognosticators on this forum were calling for an 8-4 season with an outside shot of 10-2. I think we all got ahead of ourselves once we beat Michigan.
Except you southern, the most upbeat person I ( have the privilege to) know.
I didn't think we were 4 or 5. I had us at 3 losses +/- 1. I was just hopeful that after getting thru Iowa, Michigan and MSU we wouldn't be exposed until the last game of the regular season.
I thought before the season we’d beat either Michigan or Ohio St and probably blow a game which happened today lol. That’s 2 losses but I do believe if Cain is ready to go we still have a chance to beat Ohio st. I’ve said all year we have RB problems and after watching Alabama and LSU we definitely have a RB problem. We’ve just missed on a few and boobie leaving early for the NFL hurt but that’s part of the game. If you watched the LSU game you seen that their RB’s didn’t have big holes to run through but they hit the Small holes exploding and Would still pick up 5 or 6 yards carrying defenders down field something that Cain does. Yeah our guys had some good runs if the hole was huge but that only happens a few times a game. It’s just one game that we didn’t play good but still had a chance to win. I’ll be satisfied with the Rose Bowl if we make it which I think that’s where we’re going as it stands today. Thank for the compliment lake you’re a great man buddy.
Amazing how 1 loss changed the conversation.
Win out and the rest of the B1G will all have at least one loss.
Brown had 124 yards on 14 carries, 2 td's, 0 yards lost and 8.9 yards per carry! His longest run was 44 yards, pretty damn good game if you ask me.
This loss is either going to make em or break em...Simple as that...As far as talent this Penn State team has as much talent as any team in the country...I agree with Bill as they moved the ball up and down the field and Minny couldn't stop them...They stopped themselves...As far as the running game is concerned Brown played well, Ford is going to be a fine back and Slade just seems out of sorts...The running back play had NOTHING to do with this loss...The redzone play calling was terrible...As far as the defense is concerned...They have been exposed...I don't think there is anything lacking from a talent standpoint...They seem to be in bad position, I am not a fan of the scheme, All too often they are getting beat deep in 3rd and long situations...I for the life of me can't understand that...Too many blown coverages and missed assignments...This isn't a one time thing and it continues to happen 4 or more times a game...It hurt them this game because the kid completed the pass as in past games this season the pass was off target or the kid dropped the ball...The D-Line is stout...PSU never had more than 7 in the box and most of the game had 6 or 5...The bottom line is Penn State literally gave this football game away...They were by far the better team from a physical and talent standpoint...Should have won this game by 3 TD's...If they play them again in the B1G championship game they will beat them like a drum...This loss may be the wake up call they need and they still have the talent to run the table and get into the CFP...They have no margin for error now if they ever did....
