Not good... And until Penn State stops losing the top talent in PA to Ohio State  Michigan and even to Notre Dame to some extent they will never be viewed as a top tier program ... This garbage goes on far too much...

No, especially if Franklin wants to claim he "owns the state".

I don't know what it is about losing this kid that has set me off but I am set off... This kid was a MUST get and they let this kid slip through...They just keep on waiving us the finger and laughing as they poach the top kids from PA over and over again..  It's sickening and this will ALWAYS be a 2nd tier program until they stop this... Absolutely unacceptable.. .

Oh well...

Win some and you lose some,  We have a young talented WR room and will bring in another talented WR.

I really don't care where our recruits come from, there could not be one player on the  from roster from PA and I would not care.  Franklin is doing an outstanding job and recruiting has been the best it's ever been.

We get some great players out of Ohio and like nitnation said,  just get good players who cares where they come from. I think our recruiting rankings since James Franklin got here speaks for itself. Ain’t nothing wrong baby.

Why exactly was this kid a "must get"? I mean, from a logistical standpoint he has a much better chance to start right away at OSU. We have loads of talent at WR... He wasn't a "must get".

I will say this... If we beat Ohio State and win the Big Ten this year, or if Justin Fields struggles considerably in the passing game, don't be surprised if Fleming reevaluates his decision.

Not really and they are recognized as living rent free in your head 24/7/365 along with the PSU LAX team.

Agree

I won't hold my breath on this but if the NCAA wants to save any face, OSU may not be eligible for post season or lose scholarships etc, but like I said not holding my breath on it.

Penn state was never recognized as a top tier program.

On every list of best football programs all time, Penn State is always in the top ten. Lists from SI, ESPN, College Football News, etc.

Lowest we are ranked is 10, I have seen us up at #5 or 6. So yeah, we are considered by just about everyone who matters as one of the top 10 football programs in history.

Sorry if this upsets you.

What, NEVER recognized as a top tier program with 2 national championships and umpteen top 10 and 25 finishes. I know you like trolling but try to keep up.

FD, I understand your frustration, however, I’m going to throw some info at you that may make you feel better. Your statement has some “alternative facts” in it. According to 24/7 recruiting, which is a very reputable recruiting service, this is the first time under Franklin that PSU has lost the top recruit in PA to Ohio State. They have never lost the top PA recruit to Michigan since Franklin has been hired. Here’s some stats for you:

2019 PA Recruiting class #1Kristofic to ND

#2 Ellis PSU and #4 Porter Jr PSU.

There were 0 top ten PA recruits signed by OSU or Michigan in the 2019 class.

2018 PA Recruiting class.

#1 Parsons PSU

6 of the top 10 PA recruits in the 2018 class signed with PSU. Zero signed with Ohio St or Michigan.

2017 PA Recruiting class

#1 Swift UGA

#2 Wade PSU

#4 Thorpe PSU

There were zero top 10 ranked recruits signed by Ohio St in 2017 and 1 by Michigan.

2016 PA Recruiting Class

#1 Sanders PSU

# 2 Menet PSU

(Bothe Sanders and Menet were considered 5 star recruits by at least one recruiting service in 2016)

There were 0 top ten ranked PA recruits signed by Ohio State in 2016 and just 1 by Michigan (#10).

2015 PA Recruiting Class -Franklin’s first class at PSU.

#1 Whitehead Pitt

#2 Barkley PSU

#3 Reid PSU

#4 Bates PSU

#5 Jenkins PSU

#6 Bucholz PSU

In the 2015 Recruiting class, PSU signed 8 of the top 12 recruits in PA. Ohio St signed 0. Michigan signed 0. Also, Whitehead and Barkley were basically interchangeable at the #1 ranked recruit in PA that year.

So, if you guys want to criticize Franklin for something, you are going to have to move on to a new topic. He is getting it done on the recruiting trail, especially in PA. Far better then what Paterno and Co did in PA in the last decade with him as coach. Also, the last few classes, Franklin has pulled in the #1 rated recruits from other states like NY, VA, Connecticut, Massachusetts, etc. Everyone needs to relax. In addition, not every recruit lives up to their ranking. I think Franklin has earned the benefit of the doubt when it come to recognizing talent.

We gotta start beating Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State regularly and this crap will square itself away .. And yes roam... All time we are a top tier football program .. Cheers gentlemen and Steaky...

Destination of last 4 top recruits from...

Alabama: LSU, Georgia, Clemson, Alabama

South Carolina: Undecided, SCAR, Clemson, SCAR

Ohio: OSU, OSU, Clemson, OSU

Michigan: Kentucky, Wisconsin, UM, UM

Georgia: Clemson, Oklahoma, Clemson, Stanford

Come on now.. yeah Ohio State is consistent but it's not like the powerful programs in the nation have fences around their states. Plenty of the best players in most states go elsewhere rather than the home squad.

Heck, in South Carolina Clemson is dominant but it seems USC gets more of the home players than they do.  LMAO

Nowhere in my post did I state his reasons for choosing OSU, only that it logistically makes sense for him to go there...

but I guess you felt the need to correct me anyway? LMAO 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Looking at it from a historical perspective, there's little doubt the top 8 programs in college football, so called tier 1 blueblood programs....are Alabama, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio St, Oklahoma, USC, Texas..

After that, the arguments begin..

There’s plenty of argument just within the teams you mentioned. A few of them haven’t been relevant in a really long time. And to Southern’s point, many/most receive media bias based on success earned decades ago. Having a really good season every now and then mixed in with some mediocre or losing seasons in between doesn’t make you a current tier 1 program.

Michigan is the most overrated "blueblood" program IMO. Most of their claim comes from when Fielding Yost was coach back in the early 1900's, nothing of what they have done in the poll era makes them any better than us.
