To be Devils Advocate maybe CV knows how good DA is.  And with the offensive line returning he didn't want to depend on DA getting hurt to get time. 😀

@been-there-ii  😂 man I’m just trying to sneak in, even if it’s in the back door BT…just get in baby lol

Im assuming the coaches see something in Pribula BT. My son told me we got another good high ranked QB on the radar. We’ll see after the season buddy.

Joey Porter is sitting out the bowl game. Just read it on pennlive. I was hoping he’d play but I understand.

Y’all know I like what I seen in CV the times I’ve watched him play but Yurcich and James Franklin ain’t seeing it in him that’s why they let him walk. I liked the kid but we gotta trust the coaches on this. They might see something in another QB on the team?

CV had plenty of time to access him against DA. If he was convinced that he was equal to or at least close to DA's level, he may have stayed and fought it out for the starting job.

IMO if CV believed he had a fair shot at competing for the starting job in 2023, he would have stayed.  By giving Allar virtually all the PT in "garbage time" this year it sent him a message to the contrary.  If he had a fair shot, he may have stuck around even if Allar won the job.  That would have given us a capable backup.  What do we have now?  If Allar is injured or doesn't pan out, we're up sheets creek without a QB.  There is nobody else on the roster with game experience and I don't think you'll get one from the portal knowing Allar is the annointed man!

It only sent the message that Allar was the backup, nothing more. Allar earned the backup position, what would it say to him that he needed to step back from the position he earned in practice because the other guy might leave?

I gotta say that I totally disagree with that; it sent the clear message that DA is the back up that will be starting next year; no way around that dance; hell, just about anyone that I've watched a game with or talked to have essentially said the same.

As I said before, just because you are the backup this year doesn't mean you will be the backup the next year. You could be demoted, and you could be promoted. That's how it goes, and players know that. Joe Burrow was the 2nd string at Ohio State, then Haskins passed him after his freshman year and became the 2nd string with Burrow 3rd. It's how it goes.

I don't want a player who is so worried about competing and getting garbage time snaps on my team, I'd rather they leave if it's their mentality. I don't believe that was CV though, I believe he was leaving regardless of getting snaps or not.

IMO I don't want my coach playing depth chart roulette with players. If you win a spot, that's your spot. They only way you should lose it is if the other guy gets better, not because the coach wanted to send a message about playing time next year.

I don't think CV was worried about competing.  It just became apparent that there would be no competition, lol.  Anyway, I believe we would have been in better shape with CV on the team next year.  As it stands, we have no experienced back up to Allar.  I sure hope he stays healthy and is everything everybody thinks he is or it's gonna be a long season.

Even if Pribula is that good, he'd be coming in to take his first snap in a college game.  Maybe Franklin should have got him some game time this year.

I know, I said I didnt think that was why he left ... I felt he was gone regardless.

Anyways, just a difference of opinion. I very well could be wrong 🤣

It wouldn't be the first time I'm wrong either.  I just feel uneasy about our QB situation for next year.

I'm worried about the new #2, not #3.  I haven't even thunk that far!  Allar = #1, Pribula = #2 ?.  If so, we're shaky at #2.

I would think anybody in the portal worth their salt would be reluctant to consider us based on Allar's obvious lock on the #1 spot.  I don't see any way in heck that Franklin is not going to go with Allar.

I believe so, Southern.  That's why I don't see us picking up any experienced QB's through the portal.  Looks like we'll be stuck with a back up that has yet to take a collegiate snap.  Like I said, hope Allar stays healthy & lives up to expectations or we're in deep doo doo.

I really believe the coaches see something in Pribula. I read where hes being compared with McSorely. I’m with ya I liked CV so we’ll just have to pull for him at GT 😂

Who is your backup to Allar now?

That's a good question with no good answer other than...the #2 QB, lol. PB I guess; word on him is that he's a gamer that just has the will to win and brings his teammates with him. Will be interesting next year, one thing for sure is we will know how DA handles the pressure early on; and the young man is gonna have a lot of weight on the shoulders and more importantly, in the head.
