Dove 2000 Ohio State has defeated PSU 16 times and losing 5 times.
Why?
Because they usually have better players
What are they doing that PSU is not?
Ohio state have one of the best training facilities along with Oregon and Alabama. Recruits eat this stuff up. My understanding is Penn state is in the works for facilities. Recruit harder, win the conference and things can change. Penn state is a wrestling school.
Because they usually have better players
And definitely have better coaches!

They hire the best coaches and assistants and fire them if they don't live up to expectations.
It's not like PSU is the only program not living up to Ohio State in the Big Ten. Weirdly enough I think we are the program that has beat them more times than anyone else this century.
I understand the attraction of “cool” facilities but the fact is PSU has everything it needs to beat any team in the country.
Screw "cool" facilities and star gazing, what we need is a coaching staff that, at a bare minimum, can develop the talent they recruit and put together a good OL!
@been-there-ii we’re gettin the recruits, they’re not being developed. James Franklin has recruited great the kids aren’t panning out due to coaching. If it was 2 or 3 guys not panning out that happens but when most of the OL, RB’s, and QB’s all struggle that’s on coaching.
I don't want cool recruits if they're only interested in cool facilities. We need recruits that want to play and are coachable. More importantly, we need coaches that know how to coach!
Sky, SPF, Bob; How's that working out for Iowa and Wisconsin...or the rest of the B1G, that doesn't have 4 & 5* recruits? It's coaching and players. Not just one or the other.
"I dont want cool recruits if they want all the glitter"
What do Clemson, Alabama, LSU, Georgia, and Ohio State all have in common? The "Glitter" and winning the CFP
lol I dunno know Lake, I can't find anything on 247 Sports about him.
@been-there-ii IMO BT I don’t think recruiting has ever been better than what James Franklin has been doing he’s been killing it in recruiting but I’m not seeing it pan out on the field. Hopefully Yurcich gets the offense rolling this year and james Franklin can get back to his old self. IDK sometimes he just don’t look like he’s got his mind on football. I know he’s frustrated and wants to win he just needs to get his head back in the game.
@rip lol Not as well as expected.
All I know is we better get used to it, 'cause it's at minimum, one more season.
I am really on the fence with Clifford. The kid has experience, but he just makes so many mistakes. I think we need him at QB this fall while they continue to figure out this running game thing. Breaking in a new QB and developing the Oline at the same time? Yeah, not feeling this one! I am thinking the back up QB - whoever that is - is going to need meaningful playing time next year. This sitting out until a minute or two left in the game isn't going to work next year. We will lose some of these good QB's coming in!
Not sure I have more of this past season in me next season!!! Dang, I hope you are wrong!!!
GO STATE!
@mtnittanylion I'm with ya on Clifford. Can he play better if he has a real O line? Will he get an improved line? It's nice to have a "broken in" QB to start the season. But not necessarily a broken one, 'cause Cliffy seemed a bit off for during the Ar-kansas game. And I agree with the torch and pitchfork guys, we really could use some playing time for the back ups, when we can. Franklin not the best at getting non starting QBs any meaningful playing time.
I wouldn't be at all surprised, actually expect, to see a prospective QB portal out. I thought there was another decent QB considering PSU, but now I can't find the article. Not even sure what recruit year he was in. I didn't pay a lot of attention since we seem to have plenty of good QB prospects in hand and the other guy was still flitting around the bush, "showing interest".
Here's to a better year in '22!
