I’ve got to say I’m excited about this season. We have a new coach and some new faces and we really don’t know what we have because of all the players we brought over from Iowa State but if you connect the dots I believe we’re in great shape. I’m always excited about the start of a new season but this season is more exciting because of our new coach and players. Man I can’t wait for kickoff I believe we’re on the road to a special season. This season has the same vibe for me as 2016 season. Let’s go Penn State football baby 😁🏈🇺🇸🍺
USC is the benchmark IMO, we should be undefeated going into that game.
Probably as likely as 12-0. If they can go 10-2 they will likely make the CFP. The SC game will make or break their season. IMO, 9-3 or 8-4 is most probable.
Who knows? As good a prediction as anyone’s. I still think the SC game will be the barometer. If they win they will be ranked in the top 10
I'll reserve my prediction until I see our coach & players in action. I really think Marshall will show if we have any reason for all our optimism. I'm not saying whether they win or lose (they darn straight better win), but how they do it is what I'll be watching for. Just my opinion.
I'm not all that worried about the defense, it's the offense that has me slightly concerned.
I do feel like the QB from Iowa State will have a much better OL than he had in Ames though

Yup that’s the way I feel. I have no clue how good this team will be and will wait till we’re a couple games in before making any serious prediction.

I’m actually feeling better about the offense and QB play. I believe James Peoples will make some noise getting this dude was like landing Rocco. I’m hearing also that the RB that we got from Iowa St is a stud Steve Jones was very impressed with all 3 of these dudes. Big bad Jack Ham also likes what he’s seeing on the field but both dudes want to see the team tested and they believe that will happen against Wisconsin. Take care of business is what I want to see in the first 3 games baby. I’m feeling good 😁
@southern-psu-fan Feeling good is fine. Feeling cocky will get you into trouble....and strange looks from the people around you.
We will find out about this team when USC comes a calling for the white out game...That game will tell us what the season will hold...If they win that ballgame it may launch them into possibly being unbeaten going into the B1G championship game...I honestly think they should go 10-2 at worst but we have no idea about this ballclub really...I don't see a reason why they can't beat every team on their schedule...Key players must stay healthy which is really the story with all of these teams...My personal opinion is everybody underestimated Rojas's value last year...I personally believe him going down really was the turning point of the season...Of course losing that Oregon game the way they did was really crushing...That is why I believe it is imperative they win that ballgame against USC...That game will be either the crusher or the launch pad to a big season...I personally am optimistic about the season...I am optimistic because I believe in what this coach is doing...My experience is these kind of coaches bring out the best in players...I like his system...
I’m not expecting an undefeated season and don’t think there’s anyone here that is so I believe one of the things we all should be hoping for is bounce back after a loss.
Other things I’m hoping to see and hear.
No more losing streaks to alleged inferior opponents.
Consistent play from week to week no matter if at home or away.
A coach that knows when to call timeout, kick a field goal or punt.
No more talk of “going 1-0 this week”
3 losses +/- 1 regular season. Pretty hard to predict PSU relative to 'normal teams'? After our late hiring 5 losses seemed quite likely but I'm more positive based on recovery and schedule.
I heard James Franklin could’ve kept Ohio St on the schedule but I guess he didn’t want the competition which is very disappointing for me because I want to play Ohio St every year we’re not freaking purdont we don’t run scared from any team. This was another reason why I lost confidence in James Franklin. Penn St is a heavyweight and we don’t run scared from any team. Trust me JF had the say so on keeping Ohio St on the schedule he just didn’t want too!
@southern-psu-fan I don't know that B1G scheduling guys gave much Creedence to what coaches want, particularly to a school that they seem to enjoy screwing over. You see this in writing anywhere or just "Heard it Through the Grape Vine"? pun intended
@been-there-ii I’ve heard it a few times plus I believe Roam said the big 10 lets you pick 2 teams to play every year if you choose to and Penn St chose not to. I don’t know how all that works hopefully Roam can explain how it works assuming I heard him correctly 😂 when I hear things on sports talk I’m not always sure they’re right but if I hear something on here and the sports talk there’s a good chance it’s probably accurate. Michigan still plays Ohio St every year so there’s gotta be something there. Lol

@southern-psu-fan as a diehard PSU fan I’ve learned long ago to accept the fact that we are not a “heavy weight” and we haven’t been for a long time.
We’re more like. Middle weight along with teams like Iowa and TN.
JOE once told me to lower my expectations and it took a while but I’ve learned to do so.
@psujoe Yep, nothing I can control except my feeling if we lose. Used to be, when we lost, I was one miserable SOB to be around. Eventually it dawned on me it's just a game, nice to win, but it shouldn't affect my whole damn evening.
