I heard that the Big Ten conference "requires" any team offered a bowl bid to accept that bowl bid since all conference teams share bowl revenue. So if Penn State gets a crappy bid (personally, I don't think we even deserve a bid), we have to take it because of revenue sharing. Supposedly the only out would be something "significant" which would prevent the team from participating (like maybe an outbreak of the plague which might require the team to socially isolate for 6 months...).
Any truth to this???
I really don't know. I was thinking, maybe the conference tie-ins to respective bowls involve a contract between the conference and respective bowl that requires the selected team to accept the bid and play in the game???
They sit out last year but I don’t know how it works. I believe they should go if they have a chance and let whoever wants to play, play. It’s good for the younger kids and it’s good to send the Seniors out on hopefully a win. Now if the players and coaches don’t like the bowl game do something about it next year but go out and take the frustration from this year out on whoever we play.
If a team declines a bowl invitation (decides not to add to the bowl kitty), then they are not entitled to a share of the bowl proceeds.
If all teams share equally in the bowl kitty - teams that are not bowl eligible should receive a reduced percentage.
Why do you think we dont deserve a bowl?
Just my opinion but I believe all the big 10 teams should split all the bowl money evenly even if a team doesn’t qualify for a bowl. All the schools need money and what good is a conference if a few teams collect most or all of the bowl money. It cost a lot of money to have football teams. That’s why I can’t stand Texas and ND they both are arrogant and greedy.
If you work in a business and are the top producer by far (out of 15) and your bonus is $10K and all others are $2K would you like to share equally?
BTW guys me and my son Brett got the hammer put down on us last night. My daughter in law said she was tired of not being able to go do things on weekends during Penn St football weekends and then my wife and daughter joined in on her side 😂 my wife said she understands watching the Michigan and Ohio St games but teams like Indiana we could give up them weekends and I said the way it’s been going the last 2 years them might be the only games we win lol. With the new baby I’m not going to win this battle and ole southern don’t fight battles he doesn’t think he can win lol
