@psumark #2, #44, #10 and #6 is 4 studs that can catch the football and thats more than enough talent for a QB to throw to. That’s 2 very good WR’s, a great TE and a great RB that can catch the ball. 99% of the teams out there would give anything to have these guys lol
I will give you#44, but he's not a WR. Granted those other guys would monkey stomp me (even in my prime) but they are just not top notch WRs.
Clifford has been money all year, #6 has been very good and #44 is a TE to throw to and Singleton is a beast and has been good catching the ball. Just saying we have the studs to throw too. IMO something just ain’t there with DA the offense is average at best against teams with the same talent.
As of today they have Tennessee playing at Penn St. in the playoffs but I’m sure that can change
I notice you didn't even try to justify your statement that "our offense isn't better than last year", you just went off on some tangent about "next year".@psugrad81 considering we were up 28-0 at halftime it really wasn’t noticed we didn’t get anything done on offense in the second half it was the same ole thing just different half. We shouldn’t have to give up on the starting QB to score when we get in the red zone the starting QB should be able to get TD’s. When Pribula is the starting QB next year you won’t see him come off the field. 2 things I noticed in the 3rd quarter about both teams, the backup QB’s are better than the starting QB’s and it’s easy for me to see it. #44, #2 and #6 are dam good football players that can catch the football and y’all act like we ain’t got good receivers lol that’s 3 stud players on the field at the same time with a NFL RB to add.
0-4 against teams on the same level of talent and being out scored 106-65 when we had a defense that had NFL talent all over the field. This is all on average at best QB play. There is no excuse unless you’re just happy to beat the mediocre teams.
We were below 60 last year, we're top 20 this year. Allar averaged 6.2 yards per pass last year, he averages 9.5 this year. We throw better, we run better, and saying we arent better is plain foolish.
@roaminglion Roam, we were 0-3 last year and 0-1 this year in big games playing teams with the same talent level. The offense is the same but if beating WV or BG by a few more points have at it. You will see next year what I’m talking about.
We actually scored more points last year and the schedule is about the same besides Michigan. Y’all look at the scores and we didn’t play a good Michigan team this year.
I just believe it’s time to start beating Ohio St and other heavyweights and the QB has to be better to get it done. We had the better team this year and bad QB play got us beat. 146 yards passing against Ohio St how can that be defended. BG QB did better against our defense for gods sakes.
A WR dropped a TD pass, and we ran 3 straight times into the middle of the line. Are these facts? Yes. Are they the QBs fault? No.I just believe it’s time to start beating Ohio St and other heavyweights and the QB has to be better to get it done. We had the better team this year and bad QB play got us beat. 146 yards passing against Ohio St how can that be defended. BG QB did better against our defense for gods sakes.
Do you evaluate an entire offense "being better" based on 1 game? No. that's dumb.
And let me remind you... the ONLY TIME WE BEAT OHIO STATE UNDER FRANKLIN was when McSorely went 9 of 23 for 93 yards. He was effing awful in the game. Yet you continually say we need "great QB play" to beat them... LMAO the only time we actually did beat them our QB played terribly.
Are we still on this QB conversation? LOL Allar threw some passes Saturday night that PRIBULA can ONLY dream about! There was one in particular that I STILL can't believe he laid in between three defenders.....you probably know what I am talking about. The kid is lighter, he moves better and he reads his progression as good as any QB out there! PERIOD! I paid close attention to some of the WR's and these kids are not getting the separation needed. That's the biggest problem, not Allar.
The only reason Penn State is NOT sitting at #1 or #2 with a win over Ohio State was piss poor play calling by JF & Co on the goal line. We may not play in the BIG10 championship, but if Penn State has any hopes of winning what REALLY matters, Allar is the guy!
GO STATE!!!!
@mtnittanylion so Yurcich was piss poor coaching and now AK is piss poor coaching with the same QB? Maybe you missed the chart I put up last year of the passing yardage. 70 yards against Michigan and 146 yards against Ohio St and being out played by the BG QB this year against our defense, gimme a break. We have #2, , #44, #6 and a killer RB #10 all having a great year what do y’all want the OL catching passes. Y’all act like DA is throwing to the sisters of the blind.
So y’all saying 2 OC’s can’t coach and Wallace, Warren, Clifford, Allen and Singleton are all garbage receivers to throw to when 100% of all the teams out there would love have all 4 of these dudes on the field. I get it now. Smh 😂 y’all killing me lol who was it that Clifford threw that bomb to in the Rose Bowl? He stunk too I forgot.
@mtnittanylion some passes yes but 70. Yards and 146 yard ain’t good enough to beat the heavyweights and that’s why DA is 0-4 against teams with the same talent level
Roam you always got an excuse. McSorley did get wins against Michigan and Ohio St regardless of how he got ‘em. I thought McSorley ran for a TD against Ohio St? Maybe I was seeing things? McSorley did his part or he wouldn’t have scored a TD and he ran his ass off to get it…..DA can’t make any plays to help get the win.
On the verge of a 11-1 season with a playoff berth and potentially a home playoff game and we should let Pribula play? Southern you gotta be a Steelers fan lmao
Liam Clifford hasn’t caught more than 3 balls for 40 yards in any game.
Yes... I'm the one making excuses. McSorely plays terribly against Ohio State, but you say "he got the win" like he was the reason. He beats Michigan in a year they were unranked, and lost the two times they were actually ranked... And you think that's a BIG WIN?@mtnittanylion some passes yes but 70.
He beat OSU by a fluke, and he beat Michigan when they weren't good and had 5 losses. Allar played Michigan when they were national champions. Talk about making excuses.
I didn’t say 11-1 was a bad season because I picked us to go 11-1 because we can’t beat most of the lightweights on the schedule regardless of who the QB is. I’m telling y’all what has to happen to beat Ohio St and the other heavyweights. James Franklin has built a beast but imo he recruited the wrong QB for today’s college football. These prostyle QB’s are the thing of the past and I honestly thought James Franklin learned that with Hack. Look at the difference in Washington when they brought in their athletic QB they started moving the ball. Go back a couple of years ago when we recruited DA and you’ll see I wasn’t a fan of it and some on here was calling for him to start of Clifford which I thought was nuts 😂 I’ll be pulling for him just like I always do I just want to win and I’m tired of losing to Ohio St. next year Kularrow you will see ole southern knew what he was talking about baby 😂
Look how limited Michigans offense was under Alex Orji vice JJ. Milroe is twice the QB, Orji and Pribula is and even still they ran it 39 times to beat LSU. I just don’t see a world where we run it 39 times and dominate OSU with Pribula. Having a mobile QB is great, if it’s Jaxon Dart and you have high level WRs on the flats. My opinion is Beaus Arm isn’t enough to win a game and he certainly doesn’t have the WR talent to get him out of a jam even if he had the arm to do so. A mobile athletic QB is great if you have the supporting cast. Unless PSU hits the portal big time and spends some cash to bring in NIL high level WRs then an offense under BP is going to be a long year. I hope I’m wrong and DA comes back to improve his draft stock.
Look at the difference in Washington when they brought in their athletic QB they started moving the ball.
Yes, down 28-3 they started to move the ball against a defense playing more prevent and cycling in backups. Really? Lmao
...and they scored 3 points in the 2nd half. The same amount as the 1st half.
So to summerize... Washington's new QB got a whole 60 more yards and the same amount of points against backups and prevent defense. Color me not impressed.
In 2 years DA has thrown for 300 yard 3 times and that’s against some pretty bad defenses. McSorely did it 9 times in his first 2 years recovering from sanctions. In big games McSorely made plays to help get the win the dude also won the big 10 championship so picking on him might not be a good idea. I know DA is trying his best I just don’t believe we can beat the heavyweights with him at QB. We had the better team and we couldn’t beat Ohio St this year.
All I am saying is if they would called Warrens number the entire time in both 1st and goal situations vs Ohio State, we would be sitting at 9-0 with Allar as the starting the QB. I had similar thoughts earlier in the season about Allar, but the more watch I him, the more I understand his abilities, the more I realize we need him going forward if we make the playoffs.
Our defense is doing just fine. The offense is doing just fine and each week they are getting better and so is Allar. I don't think for a second Pribula could have brought this team back against USC like Allar did. Yes, Pribula did a very nice job against Wisconsin, but he also had some near misses that could have been costly. And let us not forget, it was Wisconsin.....not Ohio State.
I am a fan of Pribula, I like him and he brings a whole different dimension to the offense. If Pribula was the QB in ALL of the games that Allar lost I don't think the the outcomes would have been different. I say this because I am not a fan of JF's ability to call the right plays in tight moments game time. I think he is the route to a lot of the problems this team(s) has/had....and his record reflects this vs top ten teams.
Believe me Southern, I respect your opinion ALWAYS! This is what makes it fun to read your posts and everyone else. If we have any shot at making a final run to the end and win it all......Allar is the guy we need. As for JF, he didn't make the same goal line mistakes against Washington like he did vs Ohio State.....I think he wised up! Hopefully he is getting better at this too! I mean after 18 losses vs top 10 teams, I hope he is catching on finally!
GO STATE!!!
@mtnittanylion oh yeah buddy. I don’t believe we would’ve ever been behind in the USC game because USC defense stinks just like all the other teams we’ve played stink besides Illinois and Wisconsin their defense is pretty good and you saw with your own eyes DA struggling in the Wisconsin game and you saw after Pribula got a few snaps we were moving that ball and moving the chains wearing Wisconsin defense down. IMO what Pribulas feet gives us overrides what few good passes DA gives us because he misses wide open receivers all the time. DA has the better arm but something just not there when he’s on the field. James Franklin was trying to pour it on in the Washington game but we couldn’t because of DA he just can’t put 2 half’s together from what I see. I’m telling ya brother, the offense will be better with Pribula just like I told y’all the offense will be better with McSorely and Roam hammered me then along with everybody else besides MB and navylion 😂. Roam hates McSorely 😂
Would you stop? I'm not picking on him, I am stating a fact. The only times he beat OSU or Michigan... He played an awful game and Michigan sucked. When Michigan was good... he lost. Badly. We had the better team and we couldn’t beat Ohio St this year.
...and by the way...
Look at when McSorley had bad receivers in 2018. How many big games did he win? None. How many 300 yard games did he have? None. Hmmmm, funny how that works, huh? Against Michigan that year? 83 yards passing. It's almost as if...... Good receivers make a difference! Or did McSorley forget how to pass that year?
