I'll keep an open mind on him until I see his results. Hope he does well by us. One thing that concerns me a little is an article by a local sports writer that said "Kotelnicki became a darling of the emerging metrics scene in the college game, of which Franklin is a noted proponent." I'm not a big fan of making decisions based solely on metrics or analytics. I sure hope Jimmy didn't hire him to just to be his yes man and rubber stamp calling the game along those lines.

Overall record does not mean the OC made us better. Iowa was 10-2 with the worst offense in college.@roaminglion Moorhead was better than Donovan and the year Rocco was here we went 4-5 so MY was a good move because we went 11-2 last year winning the Rose Bowl and we are 10-2 this year so I have no clue what you’re watching.

Our Oline only gave up 15 sacks the entire year... with a Pro-Style QB. Just about every team ahead of us had a dual threat QB. This includes Michigan, who everyone says had a very good Oline. They gave up 14 sacks, 1 less than us.
When you look at the running game, it was at least 7 in the box almost every play. No one was scared of our passing game, thus the defense was stacked and ready for the runs. This, obviously, leads to safeties filling the holes which might otherwise have been open for big plays.
I honestly don't think our line was bad... in fact I think they were pretty good.

I didn't say the offense didn't help, but saying "we were 10-2 therefore the hire was good" isn't right. Sorry, but it's not. Our defense also went from mediocre to exceptional in that time. You don't think Manny Diaz was a FREAKING HUGE reason we were 11-2 and 10-2 this year? Also, when he hired Rahne the offense did not get better. When he hired Rocco the offense did not get better. You said every time he hired someone we got better. That's patently false. You can't just point to only certain hires and say they are the only ones that count. Half the time we got worse.

The offensw was absolutley awful against Ohio State, and they turned the ball over 4 times in the loss to Minnesota. Those are facts.
Buy sure, one bowl game erases that I guess. We didnt win 11 games that year "because of the offense". The offebse sure did help us lose 2 that year though.
