This is exactly why bowl records don't matter for conferences, the match ups outside the NY6 bowls are terrible, and sometimes just a complete joke.
In an era where the SEC almost always gets favorable matchups in the bowls I have to say I’m enjoying this one and it should be a reality check to Southern for what’s to come. His whole SEC/ACC BS is going to take a major hit and be brought down to reality when the playoff goes to 12.

I don't think I've seen someone miss the entire point so emphatically in quite a while. Good job.
"What does it change?" Duh, it changes a highly ranked team playing another highly ranked team. Not just throwing together some random matchup which makes little sense. I'd rather see, you know, Oregon State play a simarly ranked team having a good season. Based on ratings, so would just about everyone else.
I’ve said all year long the SEC is down this year and I’ve also said I believe Michigan will win the NC this year but the SEC has dominated the playoffs and even though I believe Michigan is the best team I wouldn’t be surprised if Georgia beats ‘em after they beat Ohio St. I’ve also said it’s time to end the bowl games and get a 16 team playoff system going. I love the bowl games but it’s not the same as it was 10 years ago. Homer, did you see what Georgia did to Oregon the first game and remember they curb stomped Michigan last year in the playoffs. I’m just going on what I see in the playoffs and it’s been good for the SEC and ACC. We got 2 big 10 teams in the playoffs let’s see how they do.
@southern-psu-fan I really don't care if they keep the bowl games, as long as we are getting a playoff.
Makes no difference to me if thry play, but I won't watch em if it's very good teams vs. bottom feeder matchups.
If you have a bowl, then make #18 play someone similarly ranked, not a 5-7 or 6-6 dumpster fire
@roaminglion I agree! If we get to a 16 team playoff that would be 32 teams playing extra games. Also fix it where nobody gets a bye rather it’s 16, 20 or 24 just make sure nobody gets a bye
@roaminglion Yep, teams w/ losing records really shouldn't be in a bowl game. Goes right back to too many bowls. Hopefully the expanded playoff will remedy some of that nonsense.
@southern-psu-fan The only way to have a playoff without byes is to have the number of teams in the playoff be a power of 2 (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, ...). Any other number will require byes.
