A couple of things here. My wife and I are fullfilling a long standing bucket list, taking the opportunity to see Penn State play in the Rose Bowl. Two questions:

1. Anyone else here going? If so, any interest in meeting up?

2. Has anyone been to the Rose Bowl? Are there any restaurants and or bars near by?

Psyched!!!

The Rose Bowl is kinda isolated in a golf/residental area. To walk to where ther bars and restaurants are it's about 30 minutes. Also got to cross a major highway intersection.

It's only a 5 minute drive though, barring traffic of course. I dont know if they have shuttles, but would bet they do.

Slater's 50/50 is a chain, but a really good sports bar. Rocco's is a good dive bar... but in that area (southeast of stadium) there's a lot of good options

Hope this helps, and enjoy!

Joe… we made our own travel plans, doubt we saved anything but what the heck. What a difference in air fares though, united and Delta were a joke, Spirit is a joke at another level so ultimately we opted for southwest.
Thanks for the info Roam, that’s how it looked on Google maps. I think we will drive and park the car in Old Pasadena where the bars and restaurants are. I thought I read there is a shuttle from the LA Metro Rail station in Pasadena to the rose bowl. Or, might just take the MTR straight to Pasadena from our Airbnb.

Lake, it may sound hokey, but don't miss the Rose Parade.  It's a great leadup to the game and the pageantry is awesome.  Anyway, hope you enjoy your trip and bring home a victory!

Was there for parade and game several years ago. OSU - Washington.    Parade is very crowded in standard viewing areas...hectic ....need tickets. Parking is a nightmare at the parade unless you can take a bus. For a 0800 parade we had to get up at 0400 and that was with the following outfit who were good.  Bus ride was 1 hr so can factor that in depending on where you stay. LA is not like most places...at 3 in the morning the roads have a lot of traffic.  "Rose Parade Experiences" is an outfit that might take you on as "singles". Don't know. We did it with them in a group of 55 w our own bus. Leaving the parade we barely got to the stadium in time for the game. Our driver was a very experienced Cal guy who did this for a living.  The stadium has a strict security pass thru with attendant lines depending on time.  They allowed a clear plastic bag that permitted only so much. It is not just a wave thru. There are no inside the stadium concessions. If you want anything you have to leave and go down to the stadium perimeter at ground level and wait in whatever line there is. You could miss a lot.  Prices are not ridiculous but are not cheap.  Beautiful venue. It isn't like PSU as to dinner, etc. then hitting then stadium.  Think crowded and slow. We were in section 24 and walked by it 3 times ( nope ...not a moron ) as it is a sub grade level entrance marked about 150 ft away from the stadium at it's entrance. Who knew.  May be the only one but be aware. It was a great experience ...once ....I prefer my couch.
