I knew the "Old Guard" would have my back. I guess it because we dinosaurs dont live our lives vicariously thru a college football team. Have ya noticed that the forum blowhard hasnt come back with a rebuttal yet??
I see the excuse makers are back. When I was talking about PSU fan base being complacent these two guys are exactly what I meant. I'm not sure why the one guy's even here as he's professed his love for Alabama as his number one team long ago.

So tell me Remoh, what's your plan?? Who are we gonna replace him with?? You seem hell bent on firing a guy that currently has a top five recruiting class with the nations #1 QB on his way to HV. Please tell me you're not in upper management anywhere or God forbid own a business.
Tell us all Remoh, how many looks did you get coming out of HS?? I'm guessing you never even played the game at any level higher than JV; but yet you seem to have all the answers.
Do I get frustrated with JF?? Hell yes I do. Do I think he should learn from his mistakes?? Absolutely. But I also like that fact that he puts an education first and foremost in these young men's lives. I also like the fact that he's teaching these boys how to be better men, husbands and fathers. And lastly, the fact that they are held accountable for their mis-deeds and stumbles in life. THAT football coach and THAT team represent MY alma mater with pride and honor (two words that you know nothing about) and in that speaks volumes to me. It's not always about wins and losses in football or in life; perhaps you're the one that needs to learn that.
Now, if he leaves at the end of the year to go somewhere else so be it; we hire a replacement and move on....but we'd better never hear you bitch about how JF was a better coach or any other of the trash you spew on a daily basis. If we fire him now, that leaves us wide open for the cynics that said PSU is nothing but a "football culture". Is that what you want?? We lost two games, big deal. News flash, we're probably gonna lose a few more this year...so what?? You'll survive I promise you will.
Call me a Franklin apologist if you must. If that makes you feel better today, fire away. Just keep in mind most of us on this board pretty much have you pegged and know what you're all about.
Couldn't have said it any better Tsuga. Am I pissed with coaching decisions made yesterday, hell yes! I am extremely disappointed with team execution, hell yes. But like you said, there is a lot more to football than wins and losses. If that makes me F'd up then I'll wear that badge as well!

I see when I said clown, you answered.
So if someone disagrees with the self appointed czar of Roundtable Nits, they are a clown?
Roam asks that you refer to him as "Tsar" from now on. Now run along peon

I am not a fanboy with no ties to PSU and I appreciate that the players have stayed out of trouble and can speak English. I know lots of ND fans but very few with a degree from ND. In AL 70% of the people are AL fans and the other 30% are Auburn fans and very few care anything about their team other than did they win. I'd like to think PSU does more than put on a show even though the NCAA doesn't care.
Changing coaches can be like getting rid of a dictator in the Middle East. Better than a 50% probability the next guy is worse.
But I hope he learned something from yesterday and I don't even want to hear the spin. No I don't expect the truth to be public any more than I expect the CIA to tell me what is going on in Afghanistan but I do expect them to be intellectually honest and improve.
There was at least on person on this board that showed some good life priorities Saturday and it wasn't me. Kudos to the guy that went hunting with grandkids. I missed a live game because of family things this year (I didn't even tell the family what time the game was), but I've known people to go to weddings with earbuds. The older I get the less these things matter but I realize I still spend too much time on a Saturday watching football and chatting about it on the computer. Good Saturday is when we win and I only watch PSU.
I also know people that go to games and tailgate every one because that is their social outlet, I don't get it but I'm not hanging out at a bar or joining a motorcycle/corvette club for a social outlet either.
As for Ruhle, just another PSU guy? We also wanted the guy (Golden?) that went to Miami and failed ... as if he had a chance. The coach we don't have and the backup QB is always better ☹️
@underlion: I learned a long time ago its just a game. There's too much life to live for me to plan a Saturday around a football game.
My family will miss me when I'm gone, PSU won't and I'm ok with that. Although my wife and I still have season tickets; my kids and grandkids use them more than I do.
I never got caught up in the premise that because I have season tickets, the team somehow owes me undefeated seasons and nattys. People tend to get WAY too carried away with that. We see a lot of that right here on our board.
You know what, it was the first year of the sanctions that my wife taught me how to enjoy Penn State football. I learned to enjoy the game day experience and not focus so much on the outcome of the game! Sure, I always hoped they would win, but like my wife always tell me, be where your feet are! Take it all in!
My wife goes with me until the temp drops below 70 and then my dad kicks in. He just turned 80, I am fortunate to still have him and healthy enough to walk from the field to the stadium. Heck, he enjoys the ride back home through the mountains of Coopers Gap with a cold beer as much as he enjoys the game.
I enjoy going to the Big games, but I also enjoy fishing in Florida in November. Won't be freezing my but off at the Rutgers game, I will anchored next to the mangroves catching Snook and Reds! Like you, I will hang on to my tix and pick and choose which games to go to.
@mtnittanylion: Your wife is a wise woman, hold on to her!!
We've been season ticket holders since '70 or '71 and our kids and most of our older grandkids grew up on PSU football. Game days were an event to us and win or lose, we'd always be back for the next game. To be sure, I like to win as much as the next guy; I just don't see the point in jumping ship simply because we lose a game. Honestly, I don't see the point in going to a game week in and week out and then coming on here and demanding the school fire a coach because we lost a tough one. But we've beaten that horse to death enough the past few days.
I don't want our program to become the sh*t show other programs have become because the school made moves to appease the fans.

All extremely good and important points, well said!
I'll just add, the longer I've lived, the more I see that the last 3 minutes of a game are the most exciting; you either have won, have a chance to win, or it just don't matter. And during the Fall, a day in the grouse woods or on a mountain stream throwing flies beats waiting around for the end of game.
Being from Atlanta, we ain’t never had to much to cheer about, the Falcons, Ga Tech, flames and Hawks have always pretty much stunk so I ain’t had to much to cheer about unless Penn St was on. The Braves have had some good seasons I just believe they were outmanned in the World Series we lost. Some people think they choked but I believe most of the time when we lost the other teams were just better. Biggest choke job ever was by my Falcons in that super bowl I’m still pissed about that 🤬😂 y’all just use to winning
@tsuga I’m just going on with y’all buddy. Hey, we do have the Real Deal Holyfield and the goat Larry Holmes. I know y’all want to claim Larry but he was born in Georgia so we get him I don’t care what he says 😂
LMAO @ bragging about players graduating after the most embarrassing loss in modern history. My how expectations on this board have fallen as it was just a few short weeks ago we were talking about playoffs and National Championship.
Here comes Mr. Strawman to make fun of you again. You point out you're happy that we graduate players and don't take the losses too seriously, and he calls that "bragging" as if you're going around chest bumping about it. 🤡

Remoh: graduating from college is something to brag about. Too bad you were never able to experience that.
Your expectations may have fallen but mine never did; I never expected a National Championship.
95% of these kids will never play pro, and life expectancy in the NFL is what? So while our head coach is making millions, I think he has some responsibility.
And I can tell you about the SEC RB that I talked to, had a million dollar signing bonus that was gone and so was his career after 1 year...he may have joined the military a few years later. But he made his coach look good.
But hey, its every man for himself, maybe that is what these kids need to learn most.
I am going to start practicing the idea of reincarnation! That give us about 15 years or so until JVP is back!!! Can you ALL hold on that much longer!!
