They have to fill time with noise.  The worse the game the worse the talk.

The more I think about this the more I think it is DeBoar...He isn't happy in Bama and he fits the rumor mill buzz...I think it is him...

I'm really starting to think DeBoer or Hartline is our next coach.

@southern-psu-fan Brother, that was very similar to Penn States situation with under 2 minutes yesterday.  If we make it on the 4th down play, we control the clock and win.  But if we didn't make it, who's to say RU doesn't march right down that field and win like Indiana did?  Sometimes gutsy calls are what is needed, Terry made the call and the team did it .. as did Bama, I don't think it ever reflects on their coaching futures.

They’re texting me it’s done. Riley is the guy.

i have no clue if they’re legit or not. All I know is they’re very confident in what they’re saying

This is what we're hearing too.  Which would explain why nobody is losing sleep over the de-commits.

If that's the case, where is the $80M buyout coming from? If there is that much money to be spent, imo, there are better coaches to spend it on.

So what’s the holdup in announcing if it’s a done deal?

IDK, but that $80M buyout has a red cherry pucker factor for most mortals. Come on big boys, get the check books out, I hear there ain't no program that has anything over PSU financially, pony up and saddle up, or get back in the barn.

@thechinreturns  Alabama situation is different than us being 5-6 with a defense that can’t stop a bad cold and the FG gives you the lead with 4 minutes left to play. It worked and today that’s all that matters.

@psu61 well said 61 for gods sakes the dude has done nothing at USC absolutely nothing. They were 7-6 last year and 9-3 this year and the dude is kinda on the hot seat from everything I read and somebody gone pay 80 million dollars for that shit. I’m 100% if folk got that kind of money to just waste they ain’t paying enough in taxes and how many 18 to 24 year old young men going to leave sunny California with women everywhere to go to central cold Pennsylvania? You’ll get a few maybe but not many. Check the record since the dude showed up at USC he ain’t even close to being the HC James Franklin is. Tennessee, NC and Virginia these kids will leave the cold but not most of the California dudes. If he’s the guy I’ll pull for him but damn I believe we can do better.

Under Riley’s leadership, the Trojans are 0-5 against top-10 teams.

Nearly as bad, in four years the Trojans have won just three road games against teams that finished the season with records better than .500. Before beating Nebraska this year, Riley’s Trojans had not recorded a quality road win since his first season.

If this dude is at Penn St he’ll have to recruit with Ohio State as his next door neighbor. I know some don’t think recruiting matters anymore but imo I does matter.

@southern-psu-fan But you argue for Manny who has a similar record and completely ignore what Riley did at OK. Basically you're just doing what you always do in your arguments.

@southern-psu-fan here ya go , here's the parts you chose to completely leave out:

Lincoln Riley's record at Oklahoma from 2017 to 2021 was 55-10 overall, including a 37-7 conference record. He led the team to four Big 12 championships and four New Year's Six bowl appearances during his tenure as head coach.
  • 2017: 12-2 overall, 8-1 in Big 12
  • 2018: 12-2 overall, 8-1 in Big 12
  • 2019: 12-2 overall, 8-1 in Big 12
  • 2020: 9-2 overall, 6-2 in Big 12
  • 2021: 10-2 overall, 7-2 in Big 12

@southern-psu-fan by contrast here's the guy you argue for and the information you purposely leave out of your argument for him:

Manny Diaz's record as head coach at the University of Miami was 21-15 overall in three seasons (2019-2021), with a 16-9 record in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play. His bowl record at Miami was 0-2, with losses in both appearances. His tenure included a 7-5 season in 2021 and an 8-3 record in the COVID-shortened 2020 season.
  • Overall Record: 21-15
  • ACC Record: 16-9
  • Bowl Record: 0-2
  • Coaching Tenure: 2019-2021
  • Key Seasons:
    • 2019: 6-7 record
    • 2020: 8-3 record (7-2 in ACC)
    • 2021: 7-5 record (5-3 in ACC)

Not awesome in the B12 but good.  He won it 3 or 4 times and there must have been some big games.  The $ spent on the new HC doesn't go to NIL though.  Its not like the $ doesn't come from the same pool.  Seems like as good a hire as most of the other REAL options.

@psujoe  you missed where I said he did good at Oklahoma because I did say it. Big 10 is tougher to win in just look at his record at USC. Go back and you’ll see I did say he did good at Oklahoma.

I’m with Southern. Why would they spend 80 mil on Riley? Riley’s winning record at OK were good but it was before OK started playing in the SEC. Now since he has been at USC in the Big 10 he hasn’t done much. If we have all of this money, we should have been throwing 100 million at the Bama coach or Meyer or Cignetti. Just can’t see spending that kind of money on Riley who hasn’t done any better then Franklin in the Big 10.

LMAO and you're still doing it. The ACC is a P.O.S. and you continuously ignore that fact too while trying to give Manny credit.

Right, just like it doesn't make any sense to throw any kind of money at a coach who has been mediocre at best and a failure at the only big time job he's ever had.
