There is no reason Penn State is 7-5. Not sure we ever REALLY found out what happened to Clifford vs Iowa, but obviously that is when everything went downhill quickly. I find it hard to believe that JF ( and Yurcich ) didn't know CV was a better QB than Roberson. Not sure how this works, but if it was about burning CV's redshirt year, THEY SHOULD HAVE BURNT IT! And they should have played him vs Illinois two weeks later. I find it hard to believe that CV AND HIS PARENTS would have had an issue with this! What, their son saved Penn State's magical season? Ok, pretty sure they would have accepted that!
Had they gone into Ohio State 7-0 and then lost, they would have still have had so much to play for. Let me tell you, a 1 loss PSU team would have been MUCH more motivated vs Mich and Sparty!!! A one loss Penn State team TODAY would still be in the CFP picture!
JF let this get out of control and he had no business doing so! Sure, had Clifford not got hurt vs Iowa, we probably would be having a different conversation right now. But even with that, they still should not be sitting here at 7-5......11-1 at worse!!!!!
A lot of mistakes and bad decisions were made this year. Sounds like more talent is on the way here, so hopefully JF can put this year behind him and learn from it. I still believe he has done a lot of good at Penn State. But some of his play calling/decisions are questionable and just didn't think 9 years into it we would still be seeing the same old same old!
GO STATE!!
I'm really starting to think you have some type of delusional disorder. Take off the blue and white colored lenses and come back to reality. PSU has too many issues to count from lack of basic fundamentals to poor coaching decisions and was nowhere close to being undefeated or worthy of the playoffs. With the amount of dysfunction on the team this year we should probably be happy we finished one game over .500 and don't have a losing record like last year.

I said the same thing after the Rutgers game how in the crap was this kid #9 not playing. I told ya, these situations usually don’t get better, they get worse and I believe fixing something before it gets to bad. We’ll still win 7,8 or 9 games every year but I don’t see it getting better than that. Regardless if it was Yurcich decision to run the ball when you know it ain’t working it’s still James Franklin fault he should’ve told him to put the ball in the air but I still believe it was James Franklin decision to run.
"Establish the run" was always Franklin's mantra, along with "just go 1-0 this week", "play complimentary football", "we got a few things to clean up", "the analytics say that" and "I get that", etc. James is real good with the buzz words, but not so good at winning the close ones. I think we're gonna lose Yurcich. He was obviously disgusted with Franklin as shown by his expressions on the sideline quite a few times this season. He's probably fed up with the micro managing and will move on to somewhere where he is allowed to coach!
MY could very well end up at OK.
Actually why wouldn't MY go to USC if LR wants him?

I believe Riley will retain Graham Harrell as OC at USC. He was relatively new in the position, and knows the Air Raid offense extremely well.

Or how bout this Rip ... Yurcich mans up and tells Franklin, If I am the offensive coordinator then let me have 100% control of the offense. If I fail, then fire me, but give me a chance to do what I know how to do!
It is a shame to hire the best and handicap them but I keep hearing that JF handicapped him by micromanaging. Probably to some degree but the real thing that handicapped MY was the O-line. Could MY have worked around the handicap better on his own...maybe. Then we have to evaluate the rest of the offense honestly. QB? Average. RB's? Average, TE's? Average. The best part of the offense was 1.5 receivers?
Am I being mean? Emotional? I think just factual.
The QB and RBs were only going to be as good as the line, they were not good enough to pick up a suspect line. Watch the Villanova game again.
ESTABLISH THE RUN?
Does anyone think JF believed that after 4 games or was he just trying to tell future opposition that they needed to plan for the vaunted PSU running game?
If you were playing PSU you would play a normal run D and do your best to shut down 1 receiver?
Dude on that piece remoh put up said Yurcich should be fired. I believe Clifford is better than average he’s a good QB, not great but good.I believe it’s the brains on the sidelines that fudged things up this year I just don’t know exactly who to blame. Yurcich is the only one I seen holding players accountable when they screwed up that I do know which is a good thing.

Who did you see him hold accountable?
