I looked it up and Kyle Snyder did graduate with a degree in Sports Industry in April of 2018.

(In my best Raymond J. Johnson voice)

Well, it’s like this. You don’t have to call it sports, and you don’t have to call it industry, you don’t even have to call it industry sports.....but you don’t have to call it a real degree

Spent some time at Fort Rucker, going to helicopter school in 1964, then made a couple reunions recently in Dothan.  So, I'm an Alabamian of sorts.  lol

Sports Industry is basically a business degree. Student takes the all college requirements that everyone takes plus courses in economics, accounting, business law, organizational behavior,  and management. Classes specific to the major would be sports marketing, sports liability, facility management, & public relations.  It’s likely an internship is required. There are other requirements but contrary to common perception, it’s a legitimate major.

tOSU is not a program I am a fan of. Anyway, I was an electrical engineering major and the perception there is that the course work was difficult. I am very good at math as so were my classmates. None of us thought the classes were hard. On the other hand, we all struggled with the liberal arts stuff. My roommate majored in Sporrs Adminstration. He had difficult courses and some easy ones; just like the rest of the guys in my fraternity. Funny thing the PE majors were always busting their chops. By all accounts that was a challenging major.  For the record, I met Kyle Snyder. He was a smart and decent fellow.

Sky, you are absolutely correct, everything I’ve heard about Kyle Snyder is that he is a terrific kid, very humble in his vast achievements and a great ambassador to the sport. As for my snarky remark about Sports Administration, truly I don’t know much about that specific  field of study but I couldn’t resist the opportunity to try out my impersonation of Raymond J. Johnson Jr. It’s good that I think I’m funny because I get nothing but crickets and eye rolls in this household.

It is getting out of hand....from 2013-2015 only 63 players left early...only 56 were drafted.  in 2016 65 declared, Last year 112 left early, 43 went undrafted.  this despite the new rule in 2014 when they allowed juniors to be evaluated less.  In 2017, 140 players were advised to stay in school after evals, 40 still came out.  .....the lure of the money is destroying some of these kids futures......For the record, when eval time comes around coaches can request 5 junior evals....it used to be open season. When evaluated, they are given either a 1st or 2nd round eval or told to stay in school another year.

I agree Murray, these kids need to stay in school unless they are told you’ll be a first round 2nd at the latest. Get that education while you can. I was telling Roam that McGovern, Sanders and Miller time should stay another year because they’ve not done anything that I see for them to be drafted for sure. Good football players but not ready for the NFL. Merry Christmas Murray!

You can get an education anywhere, at any time. Staying for another year has little to do with receiving an education, and everything to do with not being ready to make the step into the NFL.

Soccer players who are ready to make the jump go straight into the pros from high school. When interviewed, they are intelligent and well spoken. Many of them work on degrees while in the pros, either online or at a local university to where they are playing.

Yet we treat football players like they are invalids incapable of achieving anything outside of the sport. Why is it we commend people for going back to school in their 30's to better their lives, but when mentioned that an NFL player can go back it's not an option? Why is it that we think learning stops at 22 years old for these kids?

Looking at the big picture Roam. They get the education free while on scholarship. I’m all for guys like Barkley leaving early because he’s pretty much a first rounder and everybody knows it. Guys like Maurice Evens should have stayed another year because he wasn’t ready for the NFL. maybe Maurice did go back I don’t know but I’d say there’s a good chance most of ‘em don’t. Odds are against most football players making the NFL so get the education if you can get it for free. Y’all the ones told me an education from penn st is 200,ooo dollars so why not take advantage of that unless you want to pay all that money back.

As I said, I was talking about the ones who are ready for the NFL. The ones who will be drafted in the early rounds. They will be making guaranteed money that they can use to go back to school if they don't make it, or when they retire. There's no reason they can't.

As for the ones who aren't ready, of course they should stay. They get another year of free education and work on their craft. Win-win. If they get better in their craft, they get drafted... If not, they have an invaluable diploma that will allow them to move forward with their life after football.

Again, I'm talking about those who are ready... LMAO, I don't see anyone criticizing Bill Gates for leaving school early, or Mark Zuckerberg. They had an idea and struck while the iron was hot, had they waited... Who knows, perhaps we'd all be on MySpace still. LOL
