Rashan Gary already confirmed he's leaving for the draft, and Lavert Hill and Devin Bush are expected to follow. Michigan will be hit hard by kids leaving early, specifically their defense.
As for another team which coukd be hit hard, lots of people saying Haskins is a one and done at OSU. Many saying he's gone, as he would be in the top 15 taken and possibly the #1 QB.
Man, if those things happen both schools will need to replace a lot. Martell, Haskins backup, is not nearly the passer Haskins is. Much more of a runner, would change OSU's offense entirely.
Yup, always the risk when signing the super 5 stars. I recently read an article that focused particularly around Ohio State that basically said the talent level is off the charts but these players have no real love for team, team mates or school. The article used Bosa as an example. After his season ending injury and subsequent declaration for the NFL, he is going to the outside to prepare when he could just as easily prepare on the OSU campus with his team mates. Additionally we are seeing a trend where NFL declared players are now refusing to play in their bowl games.
Obviously College Football is evolving into a minor league system where education is merely a temporary distraction. Not sure my interest level will remain the same if this trend continues.
I think one player stated his feelings a few years ago:
"Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS"

Hey sky, what's the point of college? it is to prepare you for life, and give you a good education. If you could make millions of dollars playing a game, why would you stay in college? you don't need more preparation, you are ready for your life in the NFL.
They don't lock the doors behind you once you leave, any NFL football player who wants can come back at any time. you're acting like their opportunity for an education is gone forever if they leave
I wonder if the facts changed whether the same decision would result. What if Michigan (or anOhio Sate in the case of Bosa) was in the NC game/playoffs. Bosa said he was concentrating on the draft shortly after the injury and I think anOhio State was still in the hunt at the time. Would he have "Me First" over his team? Part of me agrees with the player because of the possibility of injury leading up to the bowl and in the bowl. But a larger part of me says he committed to the school when he signed his LOI.
You are probably too young to remember the College All Star Football Classic, where the Super Bowl (or NFL Champion before the Super Bowl came into existence) Champs played already drafted college all stars in the summer before the NFL season began. Last year for the game was 1976.

I have no problem with what Bosa did, he would not have played all year and could possibly have played in the CFP if he was ready. However, would that be a good thing? He would have just been coming off an injury, having played zero competitive football for months. At that point, should you not just roll with the players who got you there?
Also, yes Bosa committed to the school. However, that commitment was to play for Ohio State for a specified amount of time. His time is up, he's allowed to leave under the rules. There is not binding commitment at this point. If you have a chance to leave, and think it is in your best interest... then you should leave. Just make sure you aren't leaving too early.
Honestly, academics is a bogus reason to stay. It's a stupid reason. I say that as a person who has a PhD. I say that because there are so many options for a good education that are available if you leave early. NFL players can take online courses year round (some do), they can go back to school once their career is over, etc. There's no reason to delay your career if you can leave and make millions.
Stanford encourages entrepreneurs to leave school early if they have a good idea that they believe will lead to a successful company. They don't tell their students "finish school first", they advise them to strike when the iron is hot. If they fail, they can come back to finish their education having learned valuable lessons. Why should the NFL be any different?

I didn't come here to play no school!

Answer me this Sky... What does staying in college for 2 years get a player who could leave and be a first round draft pick? I'm really interested to know what you think it does for a student athlete.
I know many people who went to college in their 30's, and I have no idea why you think it's a terrible idea for a player to go back to school and finish after their career is over. It's one thing if they aren't ready for the NFL, but I sense you think they should stay for their education. My question really is why do you think going to college when you are 18-22 is the only way to get an education? Do you think everyone who hasn't gone to college is stupid? Do you place a person's worth on whether or not they finished college?

I find it funny and incredibly ironic that someone who supposedly is arguing for education resorts to poking fun and insults. LMAO
By the way, multiple people in here know that I'm from New Jersey.
Hey we ain’t come here to argue school work we come here to argue footsball. Eyes only live 15 miles from the great states of Alabama baby!
Hey Roam, do you got the gangster NJ accent? Or just the Jersey accent lol
After his injury, the smart play for Bosa was to declare and prepare for the NFL. The point in the article that I could agree with was the decision to go outside OSU to prepare. It implied Bosa’s complete lack of communion with his team mates to support and cheer for his teams ongoing success. I’m not in Bosa’s head, probably nothing to the article’s point but he could just as easily trained on campus and still been part of the team.
Curious question regarding this whole issue. If a kid does leave early, shouldn't that mean the school saved some scholly money?? Do ya'll think schools even look at it like this?
It's drop in the bucket, but yeah they probably do save some money.

Watch out Southern, he might start to insult Georgia people next! LMAO.
No gangster accent for me, but I do know some people with it. 😂

Lake, maybe you or my grandson can answer this one: Didnt Kyle Snyder skip a number of classes last year while he was on the world-wide wrestling circuit?? Seems to me he was abroad just before the PSU match and got back to the USA the week he wrestled us. I dont know if he even graduated from OSU but it seems as though he spent a lot of time away from there his last year he wrestled. But in saying that, and from what I've heard; he's a great kid. Very polite and respectful I've been told.

Georgia, Alabama, New Jersey: all states that are WAY BELOW Maine's high academic standards....just kidding guys.
I have one son-in-law that drives trucks for a living and works his butt off. He makes a decent living and treats my daughter and grandaughters very well. In fact, my daughter stays at home and runs his business for him.
I have a son that works in the woods and he just recently finished building his house using cash instead of taking out a loan. Neither one of them went to college and neither one of them ever desired to. They're doing just fine. Im really surprised that Sky would post such an inane comment.
Sad thing is, after 8 kids; only one went to PSU. Also, only two of my grandchildren have gone on to PSU......Bulldawgs and his younger sister.
Ah shucks. Guess I’ll respond to all the bullying.
College football is for college students. There are academic standards expected of college students. Leaving early may be the smart thing but as the number that do this increases, the mockery of the system becomes obvious. The kids that don’t go to college are no less important than those that do. But those that forgo higher education don’t play college football.
Hey Roam, I’ve been reading your posts even before this new forum existed. You are the last person here that should call out someone who uses ridicule. By the way, have you visited Snookie’s clothing store on Main Street in Madison?

Yeah, sure Sky. I never have and never will ridicule people for where they did or did not go to school, what state they are from, or even their opinion on something. Plus, Southern, Tsuga, and others would laugh at your assertion that I go around ridiculing people.
I will argue that their opinion is wrong or misinformed, which is a far cry from what you've done in this thread. I mean, if you don't have any good things to argue about don't resort to name calling. That's just BS. And bullying? LOL, really... you think you are being bullied? LMAO
Umm......
Hey tsuga, I honestly don’t know if he graduated or not. I remember when he was overseas, I think he won a world champion on that round. His match against Nevilles was close, at least not a major, and it was argued he was fatigued from the travel, probably true.
