in the last 3 years we’ve lost 3 games because we didn’t catch the football rather on offense or defense.
Pittsburgh 2016 Hamilton catches the ball we win the game
USC we dropped an INT that would’ve ended the game with a win.
Michigan St we dropped an INT that would won the game.
Players have to make plays in crunch time to win these close games. If you want to blame coaches I guess you can do that but sometimes it’s coaching and sometimes it ain’t. When players are in position to make a play late in the game it’s up to the players to make the play to get the win. Y’all are panicking over nothing because the problems we have are very fixable and you don’t fire the coaches over it you fix the problem and I believe James Franklin will. He fixed Gesicki and the FG kicker Fickin and he’ll fix #84 and #21 to. Just my opinion though
Lack of basic fundamentals is a sign of poor coaching.
Remoh I would agree with you if we were having losing seasons but since we are 27-7 with a big 10 championship and fiesta bowl winners and 5-2 this year losing 2 close games we have to let James Franklin coach this team and fix the few problems we have. We are so close to being where the Tide is and I don’t want to do anything to disrupt that. Great days are here we just have a very young team plus we have young new coaches. Everything is good baby!
It's not a coincidence that the lack of fundamentals showed up the same season that there were coaching staff changes.
I love your fandom/enthusiasm southern, but sometimes you let it get in the way of reality..Here's the reality..PSU and the Tide are not on the same planet or remotely close..The TIDE is closer to a NFL franchise than PSU is to the TIDE..C'mon now, you know that..The Tide would lambaste Indiana by 50 plus points.,.LOL...
Before you can talk the Tide, you have to catch up to UM and OSU, and I don't see that happening in the near future considering the disparity between the head coaches..James is 3-11 against OSU, UM, AND MSU..He has to prove he can handle those schools, before even mentioning the TIDE..
I believe we are 2 years behind Alabama and Ohio st in talent and maybe 1 year behind Michigan. I admit these 3 teams out do us now with talent that’s exactly why I believe James Franklin is doing an unbelievable job in coaching. Now last years team we could play with anybody we just blew a couple of games and didn’t get a chance to make the playoffs. We’re still way ahead of schedule considering the unwarranted and unjustified death penalty sanctions as my man livintn would say lol. 5-2 losing to the same 2 teams as we did last year and everybody is in a big panic because we had 1 bad game against Michigan St. we played great against Ohio st we just lost the game and I don’t care what anybody says it was a great day against Indiana because anytime you win it’s a great day baby..period! Absolutely nothing to be doom and gloom about
Doesn't matter how we compare as far as talent when it's quite obvious the the current coaching staff is a handicap. If JF wants to be the long term PSU coach he needs to give up his loyalty to assistants that were with him at Vanderbilt
Well this logic certainly makes sense. You admit we have less talent than OSU, and our coach lost by 1 point two years in a row. Obvious sign that if we had the same amount of talent, we would lose. Seems legit, makes perfect sense.
We lost by 1 point to Ohio st and a heart breaking loss to Michigan st because we dropped the ball. It’s one bad game. VT lost to Old Dominion and Ohio st lost and got stomped by Purdue, Texas got hammered by Maryland, Alabama lost to La. Monroe a few years ago. Sometimes teams just don’t play good. I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t go out and take it to Iowa Saturday. If we catch the ball and cut out the penalties I know we’ll win.
When did I admit we have less talent? According to you we have enough talent to win the national championship so speaking of logic or lack thereof....
When you commented that it doesn't matter if Franklin keeps building talent because he's a liability. I mean, kinda a wierd statement if you aren't in agreement that we have less talent.
Oh yeah, and saying we have less talent than OSU doesn't mean we don't have enough to win the NC. I never said talent alone wins championships.
I think maybe you should read what I said again and stop trying to spin everything into something it's not.
"Doesn’t matter how we compare as far as talent when it’s quite obvious the the current coaching staff is a handicap."
Where did I say we have less talent than anyone?? I never said it nor do I believe it. We have more than enough talent to compete with any team in the conference. The coaching staff is a differentstory.
With Alabama's unwillingness to travel to non conference games, you may be right. But if Alabama traveled to Indiana in cold weather, different story.
They play in Atlanta sometimes to start the season. Their SEC schedule is usually pretty tough and then the SEC championship game gives them a pretty brutal schedule. Ole Slick Nick will play anybody anywhere anytime lol. He loves competition. Last year was their easiest schedule in a while. A lot of teams don’t want to play Alabama either because it’s probably going to end up in 2 losses.
We lost a lot of good football players from graduation and then we had a few career ending injuries with our DE’s plus Manny not coming back. I can definitely see why we are struggling on defense. On offense we just need to catch the ball and everything is good. Like you said we also lost 2 good coaches. I believe we are in good shape we just need to finish the season strong.
