When confronted by a reporter about how PSU fans aren't happy with the results on the field Joe replied " will they're going to have to lower their expectations"
Obviously there are people on this forum that have subscribed to the low expectations but believe me when I say you are in the minority. Joe Paterno is not longer the coach, expectations are high and contending for a conference title once every 6-7 years isn't good enough. Easy to sit on your ass when you're hundreds or thousands of miles away and pretend you know how Nitanny Nation feels but when you live in the middle of PA and attend most of the games you actually get to here what real fans are saying. I've yet to talk to one person today that believes in James Franklin. People are frustrated and angry and say he needs to shut his mouth and do his job or get the hell out. I do not believe nor do I think JF will be fired but 8-4 isn't good enough and 9-3 isn't good enough, worthless middling bowl games aren't good enough 3-11 against OSU,MSU and UM is pathetic and his 11 percent wins again top 25 is unacceptable.
Starting this week it's put up or shutup time. I will not lower my expectations Joe.

I recently spoke to an all-american defensive back and asked him what separated an all-american elite player from a very good player. He said in his opinion, the all-american goes 100+% all the time; practice, film, off-season and games, even when the coach tells him to take a step back. He said the commitment is unbelievable.

Everybody has one. In my experience there are 100 armchair quarterbacks to every one fan that actually knows about football.
