Interesting article from Nittany Lions Wire:
"Penn state’s approach on special teams has typically come down to allowing Jordan Stout to handle the long-distance field goals with his strong leg and Jake Pinegar to handle things closer to the end zone with better accuracy inside of 40 yards. But it was Stout who missed a 24-yard field goal and an extra point in the second half that led to the game being a bit more tense in the final minutes than it needed to be.
So what was the deal?
After the game, James Franklin noted Pinegar did travel with the team and was available, but there was no explanation for the decision to use Stout instead.
Something feels a little fishy there."
I would have to agree, something doesn't seem right why he wasn't used.

Quite possibly a "violated team rules" type thing. Many teams are becoming more tight lipped about everything, so this could be the norm now: radio silence.
Case and point: I believe they aren't releasing weekly depth charts anymore either

My thinking as well and I can appreciate and respect a coach/team that maintains that internal structure.
I don't know, Roam. If he was in the dog house probably wouldn't have made the trip. Unless Franklin wanted insurance in case Stout got hurt. I still think it's odd that he made the trip and wasn't used in a tight game. You're right about the depth chart thing. I have no problem with keeping either of these things internal. After all, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
I believe your take is 100% on point Roam...I don't blame him for it either...Keep as much in house as you possibly can...
@roaminglion Do you think this can be linked to the NIL? I think it is possible, if someone loses it because of team infraction, the school does not want to say it and have the burden on them. If they say nothing no one can say it came from the school. Just a thought.

I think it's just a trend to be more tight lipped when it comes to internal issues. I think a bunch of programs have realized they gained nothing by telling reporters about these things, and sometimes were hurt by it. Once a few schools started doing it, it opened the floodgates for others to follow suit.
I was wondering.... could a kid's position on the depth chart affect his NIL value? Could he then possibly sue the school for loss of earnings potential? I'm no attorney, just thinking out loud. Obvious solution - don't publicize your depth chart.
