The team seems to have enough athletic talent to win, but not enough to overcome the intellectual deficiencies of some of the coaches and "the Roscoe".  However, #8 on the defense is terrible.

Not panicking long term.  Every game will be a dog fight this year.  The hire was late and put MC behind the stakes.  But if it was a good hire and the culture is a fit then I am good with him.  A learning year for him.

Now, the obvious question is the QB and when we learn what Manske is.  Or does MC know that he isn't the future?  He needs to know that and be shopping if he is not the future.  Get him some playing time.   PSU fans are not as impatient as many but wears not ISU either.

Many areas were better today... The difference was turnovers and points after turnovers.  We are also surprisingly impotent running the ball.

Will Wood coming in next year too. Who knows what Manske is, and could go portal for a better upgrade

@underlion MC let Grunk, Reynolds and Amare Cambell walk because he wanted his guys because in his mind he thought they were better and they’re the ones he was going to pay. I’m sure he told them they’re welcome to stay but didn’t offer enough money which was done on purpose going on what Amare Cambell said…Amare said the offer he got was disrespectful so that tells me MC was saying we want you but we really don’t unless you’ll play for cheap wages. We finally had a stud QB and now we don’t…big time fudge up. I’m sure there’s other Penn St guys that were offered the same shit sandwich! Smh

Does that imply the MC is gonna start a freshman QB next year if Manske goes portal?

I hear you Southern, lets hope he learns.  He can not tell us what he truely thinks about Manske.  If I read between the lines he is either not healthy or not any better than Rocco.  Even if he is close to Rocco it is time to get him some experience and find out for next year.

As far as Grunk, I have to say that he was largely unproven.  We like most fans thought #2 is great when #1 isn't getting it done.  He would not have played at PSU had #1 not gone down.  So AC was a known commodity.  Rocco was a known commodity to MC.  Grunk was not known to anyone.  Interesting that JF wouldn't play him last year but started him this year.  But I guess JF stuck with his guy to and when he could have layed Grunk he'd earned his pink slip.

There is only so much $.  And it doesn't belong to PSU.  PSU is a 'middle man' trying to distribute it?  I don't know how NIL works exactly.  If they didn't spend it this year does it stay in the pool?

Just a piece of info

Following the House v. NCAA settlement changes, Division I schools can now directly share revenue with athletes. For the 2026–27 academic year, direct school payments are capped at $21.58 million per school across all sports. [1, 2]

Now, how the school divies it up, I don't know.

So I’ve heard that MC said “absolutely not” when asked if Rocco might be benched.

I’m seriously starting to think that Campbell won’t last more than 2 years.

21.58 M Cap, I like that.  Would really give parity but I guess we go back to that plus $handshakes, and Dodge Chargers...

Looks like the Mormons spent more than the Catholics...

Well, Pat Kraft buyout with Penn State sits around $12 million with his contract running until 2032 (he signed an 8-year deal in 2024).

School can pay 2 athketes all of it (Title IX applies Male/Female equal) or spread it out.

Connect the dots roam! You know exactly what AC said. If the Penn St guys wanted to go with JF they would’ve made that decision right after the Clemson game but they waited to see if they were wanted and would have a fair shake. Disrespectful is what Amare Cambell said.

Your dots are complete nonsense.

1. Grunk portaled before Becht even got here

2. AC was paid roughly the same amount at Tennesee as we offered

All you are doing is saying "trust me bro I know" when you don't know crap about it, you just assume or speculate. That is not the same as knowing. It's all just you guys making chit up so you can blame it all on money.

Yes and yes. NIL does not have to be equal but anything directly from the university does.

Which IMO is complete horsechit considering they are paying the men in revenue sports and thrn forced to pay women in sports that lose money.

So it is good for females but doesn't address the NIL debacle.

Maybe our universities should do what they were supposed to do and not put our kids in 100k of debt with a useless degree.  But hey 4-5 years of socializing and drinking is better than most options.  This was titled Intellectually Deficient 🙁

I don’t blame it on money but what  I do blame it on is poor personnel decisions. I’m sure if there was a way of going back and looking at all of the visits we had from players in the portal you will find that at least 90 percent of the players from Iowa State and less than 15 percent of players from other schools were signed. The ISU guys were the priority and even though they were better options  players from other schools were not.

I can’t remember names right now but we had some pretty darn good players visit us and they were never given serious consideration.

Maybe they were and maybe they weren't, we dont know. This wasn’t the only place they visited, and we arent some special place that everyone wants to come to if we just offer money

It’s about money and here’s how. Penn St NIL is around 30 million I believe and 25 or more Iowa St guys come over with around 20 of them MC thinking will start. That doesn’t leave a whole lot of room to pay Penn St guys that started or played a good amount of snaps to pay the Penn St players. Amare Cambell said his offer was disrespectful and that’s the reason he said he was out of here and he went to Tennessee because I’m assuming Jim Knowles had a spot for him. If they didn’t want to pay Amare Cambell what makes you think they wanted to pay Grunk or Reynolds when MC has his TE and 2 QB’s. Now I’ll admit I thought this was going to work to because I fell for everything i was listening too on sports talk and Iowa St was a decent team the last few years but I hadn’t watched Iowa St but MC is a professional and he did watch the film and should’ve know better. Now ya’ll know how I loved Grunk and Amare Cambell these 2 dudes were studs down the stretch last year and it was devastating letting them walk especially Amare Cambell because we beat Wisconsin, Michigan and NW if Amare Cambell is on the team because imo the Michigan and Wisconsin QB’s don’t have the runs they have that beat us and I don’t believe the NW Wing-T works either with Amare Cambell at starting LB’r. Imagine having another Rojas at the other LB’r spot because that’s what we would have. Bottom line is MC chose to pay his guy he couldn’t pay both because the money probably wasn’t there or he didn’t think he needed them for what it would cost he’d be doubled the salary. He offered the less money that’s why Amare Cambell said his offer was disrespectful the other players just took the high road and called James Franklin. Just my opinion going on what Amare Cambell said I can’t prove it happened and you can’t prove it didn’t but one thing we do know is the Iowa St guys are here and the Penn St studs are not that’s the facts.

I’m not saying we can beat Indiana, Ohio State and Georgia with Amare Cambell,  I’m saying we can beat Wisconsin, NW and Michigan with him. With Grunk, Reynolds and Amari Cambell we might have a shot who knows. We were set at QB for 4 freaking years with Grunk.

If anybody thinks these dudes gone play for bottom feeder money you being delusional because they ain’t and the money these dudes gettin is life changing money. It’s 70% about the money but there is other stuff.

Concerning to me is MC's comment when asked about the "MEQB" in college football, if he had any concerns or considering a change and he replied "No".

  1. Either he is batshit blind or ass deep in the halo effect with RB. Yeah, we all know the answer.
  2. Manske isn't healthy enough to play ( then shouldn't be #2) or just isn't any better
  3. #3 QB isn't anywhere near giving it a shot
  4. Just because a QB threw for 10000 yards doesn't mean he did shit other than complete passes, what was the overall win/loss record and against who. Hell Sean Clifford threw for +10000 yards and was basically just considered as a servicable QB during his 6 years.

I do think Grunk would have stayed if the money and legit open competition for #1 QB was open; I don't think any of that was on the table and I think it was very probable that he was influenced and or just had gut intuition that there would not be open comp; and from what Ive seen, there are no packages that any competent QB couldn't run under the Campbell/Mouser brain trust, therefore no need to rely on bringing in a known starter, but they did.

MC had to fill a team and clearly went the route of bringing in his guys to fill and give stability (failed at this, imo). However he wasnt bringing in players that had already proven they could win in the BIG12, and beating Iowa is by no means a measuring stick during that time period. My bet is the team chemistry is off, ISU players weren't recruited to PSU but rather brought along, yeah they had the option of not coming, but I'd say they  got more bag than had they stayed at ISU and were familiar with MC vs an unknown coming into ISU, and basically the gig is up after a year for the most part, either graduate, portal, or go back home if ya don't like Happy Valley which it ain't at the moment.

Enjoy you morning of CUp of Joe.

This is just a big circle jerk of blame. The DC & OC suck, yet somehow they wouldn't suck if Grunk, AC, and some others stayed? Well that would mean the OC & DC don't suck because they just don't have good players. Yet people keep talking about how those guys suck too.
