He sounded off out of embarrassment and was reaching for something that wasn't there. It was his mistake, he has done it four times now and this one hurt the most. 110,000 crazy people, had Ohio State dazed and confused and he blinked....at least 5 times for NO reason at all.
Blink 1.....Tommy Stevens. NO reason to try something new
Blink 2....Didn't go for 2 after the 1st TD.
Blink 3...didn't kick a FG on 4th down, went for it and came up short
Blink 4...changed the defensive scheme with 6 mins to go.....played to not lose.
Blink 5....took the ball out of Mcsorley hands on the biggest play of the game
Again, this is my opinion, but if does this again, then I will lose respect for his ability to coach in a big game. Right now, I am not there yet because I believe he is young and WANTS TO WIN and he has to make mistakes to get better. If he pulls any more dumb decisions the rest of the year, then maybe we need to question what he is doing....and WE ARE aloud to challenge him since we are paying his $$$.
By that argument Nike should have the biggest input into his coaching, because they are paying the highest pecentage of his salary from endorsements. In fact, very little of it comes from the University.
All kidding aside, of course we have the right to question his coaching. However I think many lack perspective. Urban Meyer lost 6 games to ranked teams at Florida in his first 3 years. He also won a NC. Howver, he made a ton of mistakes in those "big games" he lost.
No coach wins them all. And Franklin lost twice to arguably one of the two best coaches in the game today. By one point. Hopefully he will learn not to be so tight at the end, but as you said he is still young.
I'm pretty sure he's in his 8th year as a head coach so no he is not young by coaching standards.
How old was Joe and how long was Joe at PSU before he won his first out right NC? I am sure not in his 40's if I remember correctly.
It took Joe 17 years as an assistant and 15 years as a HC to win a NC
8 whole years?? Yeah, he should be outcoaching arguably the best coach in football by now. 😂
Perspective. It took Saban 14 years before he won a NC, Bear Bryant 17, Tom Osborne 22, Ara Parseghan 11, Dabo Swinney 9, Urban Meyer 6 and Jimbo Fisher 4 and Joepa 15 to name a few notable coaches. Keep in mind that Fisher inherited his team from Bobby Bowden.
AND, non of these coaches took over a team crippled with sanctions!!!
Franklin has his team on the brink of being a playoff contender WTF people??????
Roam, I guess we need to read Remoh's book on coaching standards. I heard its a best seller.
Sure would!! And you could read it to your senile worthless civil war hero pap.
At the risk of getting you aiming at me, you need to either quit drinking or posting late at night.
Old Yeller!!!!! Hey how's Burlington? Didya find what you're looking for at the Half Lounge??
lol
Now, Now. Im sure he's there to do some leaf peeping. I Mean, why else would a man go to Burlington, Vt in the middle of the week??
He's probably there to meet up with some old friends and comrades. As a matter of fact, I'm sure they'll be behind him all the way. Lets just hope he stays safe while he's there, the streets of Burlington, VT can be very dangerous. Lets hope he doesn't fall into a bad crowd and gets sucked into something.
Im sure he's there for a metal detection symposium, like you said; why else would a man go to Burlington?? I heard those guys do a lot of work on their knees so maybe he's just there to get a few tips.
Have to agree with the senile worthless decrepit old man that Burlington is a shithole but what town in New England isn't? Hate to ruin your fun but I was lucky enough to come home yesterday.
Lol.....sure Remoh, whatever you say. I'm guessing you had a gay old time while you were there........not that there's anything wrong with that.
I agree on many of your blink moments, but #2 just doesn't hold water. You only go for two when either the score, or time left and score warrant it - not just nilly dilly when ever ya want.
Be careful cracking yourself up or you'll run out of Depends.
You always said "if you drop your keys in Burlington, kick them to New Hampshire before you pick them up". Sounds like Old Yeller may have a tint of pink to him ( like you said "not that there is anything wrong with that").
We need to stop poking fun at Old Yeller; I'm guessing he took a lot of poking the past few days.
And that's perfectly fine
The score was 12-0. I told my wife, they need to go for two to make it 14 in case Ohio State scores twice which then at least we would be tied. After they kicked the extra point, my wife said they are going to lose by 1 point because you are almost always right when your guts tells you something.
I agree with you, normally I would say the same thing. So maybe it was a lucky hunch. Still don't believe this game should had ever come down to this.
