So we can see the ACC conference champion miss the CFP fir the 2nd time in 3 years.
If JMU wins the Sun Belt that's exactly what would happen. Duke isn't making it, win or lose.
I asked you about this the other day but you may not have seen the post. If Duke win the ACCis out. I thought there were automatic bids for conference championships? I’m pulling for Duke to but for different reasons lol I’m still hoping we can get Manny but I’m not feeling good about it. I just believe if we got Manny he would be better and he would wa t to be there.
Pat hired Manny at Temple, Manny ditched Temple 3 weeks later, Pat ain’t hiring Manny for PSU and never was.
I believe there’s some new light with Manny. If Manny gets the job it’s a job he will love having just like with TS. I don’t believe Manny will use the Penn St job as a stepping stone is what I’m saying while Dabeor and Daboll probably will.
Manny is from Miami so you can’t blame the man to jump ship on Rutgers to get that job. IMO that was just bad timing on how the Miami coach got fired a week after Manny took the Rutgers job. If the dude is sour about that then that’s probably why things are a mess today because he could’ve got Manny 6 weeks ago.
There are 5 automatic bids for conference champions. It does not specify which conferences get the bids, just that they go to "the five highest ranking conference champions".I asked you about this the other day but you may not have seen the post. So lets sat Ohio State, Georgia, and Texas Tech all win. They are all ranked top 10. So there are three auto bids gone. The last two would go to Tulane for winning the American conference and James Madison for winning the Sun Belt. Both of those teams are currently ranked.
Should Duke win, they are currently unranked and with 5 losses unlikely to jump JMU with a win. Therefore they miss the CFP. as five other conference champions are ahead of them in the rankings.
Behaviourally speaking; look at how this has played out from the lead up to the actual firing, how it was done, what was said afterwards, how the search including the misinformation that was floated, how the chosen one was chosen(head scratcher) pulled back at the last minute, no apparent contingency plan along the way, and whatever else follows….I dont think I’ve ever seen anything like this playout.
Just a head scratcher post from the Thursday morning couch with a cup of Joe.
Nice post, Roam.
EVERY power 4 conference champ should get an auto bid...PERIOD...If you win your conference championship you should be in...The games have to matter...If that means one of the sacred cows gets bumped out then so be it..Win your games...They want to turn this into an invitational tournament where some "committee" does an "eye test" to rig who is in and out...That is the problem with what they are doing to this thing...Very simple to set a fair format...The Power 4 get the 2 teams in that played in their conference championship game...You put a power 5 team in and then 3 at large bids get in...Simple as that...No committee nonsense...You play your way in...DONE...This ain't an invitational tournament...
@the-funeral-director This is and always has been an invitational tournament.
Last season was the closest thing to what I would like to see in a National Championship Tournament...This thing is getting to the point where it will be 2 conferences with all of the teams in in with a couple of outlier teams...My question is why bother playing a conference schedule? The games mean nothing...
That is also why I won't be watching it this season...Penn State isn't in it and it more or less gonna be half the field being SEC teams so why bother having this thing at all...I don't know why the SEC even bothers playing a conference schedule cause they put half of their league in this so called playoff...I can tell ya after watching a lot of college football this year that Ohio State is going to win the thing again...I wouldn't be shocked if you see 2 B1G teams in the final unless they bracket them to where they have to play each other...
Does the Tide make it in after the butt kicking today or does the CFP committee show mercy because of the players that didn’t play? Duke playing good and has the lead 14-7
IMO Miami should jump Bama and BYU and be ranked #10. Bama now has 3 losses, has looked bad for 4 weeks, and they lost to FSU who Miami beat.Does the Tide make it in after the butt kicking today or does the CFP committee show mercy because of the players that didn’t play? BYU was non competitive twice against Texas Tech. They should be out.
So I think the choice for the committee is simply Alabama or Miami. Actually this time I think they take Miami.
@roaminglion yeah the Florida St loss is a killer and they have struggled down the stretch. Duke might pull this thing out Roam just got an INT with 7 minutes left.Manny going for the throat there lol
Duke got a FG but man the Duke QB does a lot of stupid shit. Dude needs to know don’t do anything to stop the clock he should’ve tried to run it in and if nothing else the clock keeps running smh
ACC is a shit show. Alabama should be in over any team from that crap conference.
Alabama lost to FSU. Sorry but Miami beat FSU and that should be the tiebreaker. Usually is head to head and then common oppnent.ACC is a shit show. Alabama should be in over any team from that crap conference.
Manny and Duke making a lot of stupid mistakes at the end here.

So you’re gonna punish the team that lost in the championship game of the 2nd best conference while Miami sat at home and watched its conference championship game on tv? I thought we went through this last year and it was decided that championship games mean more.
