Of course I think I’m about the only one that listens to Dr Fauci today lol. I know he’s changed his mind a few times but that’s ok if he gets it right he may have learned something new about what the virus does. I get some weird looks from people when I say his name like I’m an idiot for listening to him. I always try and find the smartest person and listen to him but I could be wrong sometimes thinking whoever is the smartest person but I still believe he’s the man. BTW I’m very hard headed 😁
It's how intelligent people behave, admitting when they are wrong and correcting their statements. That said, he wasn't really ever wrong, it's just people acting like he said definitive statements when he didn't.
"I don't think everyone needs to wear a mask yet" somehow became "he said we didn't have to wear masks"

Just my opinion Roam, but I took it he didn’t want everybody panicking going out buying up all the mask and he was trying g to keep people calm and if that’s the case I think it was the right call. What you said makes since as well. Dude has been doing this a long time and I don’t think he makes many mistakes he just has his reasons for making his decisions. My son will be a nurse practitioner in a few months and Brett said this dude is as good as it gets, he knows his stuff.

Fauci has been a bit self promoting. He is a long time government worker with a narrow scope and even with the narrow scope he has shown considerable variation during the 9 months. You could excuse him in that knowledge has changed but if it has changed i would say that it changed from a death sentence (what was originally implied from garbage China data) to we have the solutions to keep all but very old people or people with serious co morbidities alive. Data is garbage and information seems poor. Now it is all about masks and distance, little focus on cleaning surfaces. Stores that had wipes pre COVID now have none out front. Why? Ran out? Not needed? $.
The joke masks do very little for the wearer, that is a fact, but we can't say they do nothing. We, as a people are so stupid in that we can only understand good or no good. If they were to say that wearing these joke masks reduces your chances of getting COVID by 2% that would be meaningful.
So yea cases are up, testing continues to increase. We needed our entertainment. We probably have relaxed as individuals...and it is getting to be flu season...imagine that.

The masks were never about protecting yourself, it was about protecting everyone else. That is not in question, it's very well established that masks protect others when you are sick.

Dr Fauci altered his mask opinion because he, at first, felt the masks should be saved for healthcare workers and that there could be a shortage of masks. As time went on, it was determined that the public would benefit from wearing masks and that with people making their own masks, etc, that there would not be a mask shortage. At least not the common paper or fabric masks. N95 masks, on the other hand, are still pretty sought after and more difficult to find.
Dr. Fauci has spent his career studying viruses. You are correct to respect his opinion. It’s too bad we didn’t have a more unifying voice in all of this. Dr. Fauci has been undermined many times.
On the other hand, Dr. Atlas is a radiologist. He spent his career reading x-rays and MRI imaging. Who should we listen to, the epidemiologist? Or the radiologist? Seems pretty clear to me. Seems pretty clear to you as well.
Stay safe. Respect this virus. It may not kill young healthy people, but it can make them sick and give them long lasting symptoms. Speaking from experience here, you don’t want this virus.
