Devonta wins the Heisman
Devonta wins the Heisman
It's rigged!
All I am gonna say is this...Who was the best player in college football this year? Which player is the most valuable player on his team? Another joke...If the Heisman Trophy represents the best player in college football then who should have won it is very obvious...Trevor Lawrence should have gotten the Heisman...

The Heisman isn't an MVP award, and why is it Trevor Lawrence? Didn't seem to do much against Ohio State.
Kinda hard for me to see a WR be selected. Other skill positions IMO have a helluva lot harder season in terms of physical and mental play on a daily and weekly basis, e.g. QB, RB, TE, LB, C, LG
The Heisman Trophy is "supposedly" given to the best player in college football...If you don't think Trevor Lawrence is the best player in college football you are in a very small minority...He is a generational talent...He is being compared to Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck...The funny thing is that every mock draft I have seen has Lawrence going at 1 overall...Jones is the #4 QB taken and the kid that won the Heisman isn't even the first WR from his own team to get drafted...To me not giving the Heisman to Trevor Lawrence is laughable just like the farce the CFP is....
Why not give it to Desmond Ridder?? He led Cincinnati to an undefeated regular season......oh wait.
Just another beauty contest FD, then throw in the ol' "Eye Test" to put the frosting on the cake.
@tsuga. Lol, the right guy won it Trever sat out a game and lost a game that’s what cost him the trophy IMO

I think you misunderstand what the heisman trophy is, it isn't given to the best player in college football... but the most outstanding player in college football.
While the difference may be small, there is a difference. Best player would simply mean most talented, where most outstanding means a player who stood out at his position, on his team, and exhibited excellence and integrity.
Devonte Smith just had one of the best seasons in history for a wide receiver. He absolutely deserves it.
Our Mission
The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. The winners of the trophy epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work. The Heisman Trophy Trust’s mission is to ensure the continuation and integrity of this award.
This came right from the Heisman Trust's webpage. I cant speak for this year's HT winner or even TL for that matter. In the past, I've wondered how much "excellence with integrity" really mattered.
Do we remember the meaning of the word integrity anymore or is it just a fun word we throw around from time to time??
Unfortunately integrity is about as rare as an albino Elephant...In my humble opinion the Heisman trophy has become very political as well...They were yodeling around for that past few years that a WR and a defensive player need to be considered and win it...So this year they found their excuse for a WR and the fact that he played for Alabama the ultimate of the sacred cow programs certainly didn't hurt his cause...My question is if the kid played for Cincinnati or Indiana would he have gotten an invitation to the award ceremony let alone win the thing...All I know is Trevor Lawrence missed one game...Against Notre Dame and his team got beat...They played Notre Dame again with him as their quarterback and we all know what happened...Trevor Lawrence was head and shoulders the best player in College Football last season and was also the most outstanding player as well...How many games does Clemson lose if Lawrence doesn't play a game all year? How many games does Bama lose if DeVonta Smith doesn't play in a game all year? He isn't even the best WR on his team for crying out loud...smfh...
@the-funeral-director. Devonta Smith will most like go in the first round of the NFL draft the kid is a beast

Get the facts right if you want to make this argument:
1. Lawrence missed 2 games, not 1.
2. Clemson scored 34 points against ND with Lawrence at QB... and 33 in regulation with the other QB
3. The defense was missing 4 starters against ND the first time they played. That is why they lost, the offense was fine... the defense gave up 47 points, 33 in regulation.
Well I will bet you whatever you want to pony up that #1 Trevor Lawrence is the 1st player picked in the 2021 NFL draft...#2 that DeVonta Smith isn't the first WR from his own team that is drafted in the 2021 draft...So if you aren't the best WR on your team you sure as hell ain't the best player in the country...And if you're trying to convince me that Clemson's offense isn't better with Trevor Lawrence at QB then with all due respect I am gonna ask you to put the baggie down with the Pipe and come back to reality...

1. I am saying your argument that Clemson lost only because Lawrence missed the game isn't based of fact, just opinion. Also that it's and opinion which ignores the fact that almost half of Clemson's defense was out, and the defense was what played bad.
2. Again, the Heisman isn't given to the "most talented" player or even the most valuable player. It is given to the most outstanding player. What you do in the season matters, using your logic Lawrence could have missed the whole year and still won the trophy because... well... "he's the best player".
A WR hasn't won the award in how long? Somehow you think they gave it to an Alabama receiver because he is from Alabama??? I mean, if that were really true Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Amari Cooper, etc. all would have won it too. They were beasts and supremely talented, but didn't win it "just because they play for Alabama" In fact, only 3 people from Alabama have ever won the damn thing... 2 RBs and now a WR. Plenty of other schools have more winners.
Devonte Smith's season was arguably the best season a WR has ever had, and I thought what you do on the field is supposed to matter... isn't it?
