Interesting article. The statement that jumped out at me was, "The staff will have to decide which roster holes they can plug with a transfer and which will be backfilled by the development of current players." Therein lies our problem. IMO this is the area where James and staff come up short.
May be elements of this I just don't understand. If you have 7 players on your current roster entering the portal, then you should have 7 schollies available for a replacement. What am I missing?
The math isn't as simple as it seems when I hear experts talk but it does seem that 7 is a lot and there should be room. It isn't a simple max, there are class max's? But when you offer scholarships over the limit you are planning on a percentage not accepting? But even so if you want a portal guy you can call an offer and say, decide by noon or we're pulling it?
@bdc haha Ya know, I was usually pretty good at math and yep, you'd think it'd be pretty straight forward. However, for me, some of the word problems could bite me in the butt. And in this case it seems like you have to account for all the ifs, ands and buts....and I think a couple of non written maybes.
