I know people would laugh when Buffalo was brought up as a viable option for Big Ten expansion, but is it really that laughable now? Their football team had a 10 win season, their basketball team is currently a top 20 ranked team, and they produced arguably the best defensive player in the past 5 years in Kalil Mack.
Add to it the city of Buffalo is going through quite a Renaissance right now, more and more development downtown and UB is also revamping their campuses quite nicely. It's also an AAU school and does a lot of research. TV market is a good one as well.
LMAO, their athletic department is already on par with Rutgers... That's not really saying much but I'd imagine they would probably add more sports if they were allowed in.
All I am saying is that they deserve a look at lease, I don't think it's so much a laffer as it once was for them. They have also moved into the top 100 schools in the nation according to US News. Tied at #89 with Iowa and Indiana. People don't seem to know this, but while it's name is "University at Buffalo" it is actually the flagship of the New York state university system.
the buffalo football program has some great people in place. They reach out to me on a regular basis and have been recruiting PA more in last 3-4 years than I've ever seen. They're doing good things up there and i wouldn't say no to adding them. Rob Ianello is a great recruiter and is regarded as one of the best in the nation. was HC at Akron, worked at ND, Kansas....does a fine job up there
Lol, yeah, that's a brilliant idea. Small minds think alike.
I think Cincinnati is a better choice, let them recruit against big brother, sell the school on, why go to OSU when you can come here and start and play against OSU and B10, thus watering down the in-state pipeline to OSU, just a one minded thought, lol.
I would love it, only 100 miles away with easy access to big 10 games. That said, has there been talk about considering them for admission or just thinking?
That’s why I wish either penn st would get in the ACC or Ga Tech would get in the big 10. I think Roam said either Ga Tech would be a good fit in the big 10 or there was talk of Tech getting in the big 10. I heard somebody say it lol

There was talk about GT and Virginia in the past, but that was before Maryland left the ACC and the remaining schools signed the TV deal. Now if anyone leaves that conference they are blasted financially for years, so it wouldn't make sense.
Also, I think it would be a nightmare for GT. Any school that is on a geographical island like that usually suffers in the long run.
Maybe Michael Johnson Sr. as the next WR coach?
Buffalo is an improving program but would it be in PSU’s best interest? They would become a recruiting competitor. Cincinnati would be good but they would need to add more sports. They don’t have a wrestling team.
Would be good to add Buffalo. The city has a large population and already has big league teams. We would have another nearby rival. Side note: The Buffalo NHL hockey team is own by Penn Stater Terry Pegula.
Mr. Pegula owns the Bills as well.

Winners aren't afraid of competition.
Lmao.

Google for yourself, scroll down for the past 10 seasons. One good season and you want to add them to the B10. Adding Virginia Tech would be a much better addition to the B10. Buffalo belongs in the MAC.

I don't care about the last 10 seasons, the football program was only joined the FBS in 1999. You think the Big Ten added Rutgers for their football prowess? More goes into it than that.
If BIG is going to add another Eastern team, it will be a school that expands the footprint for TV market. BC or possibly Syracuse, though Syracuse brings little to the table. Further south NC State, NC or Duke would bring something to the table.

None of those teams will ever leave their conferences because they would be penalized for years financially. Maryland got hammered, but not nearly as bad as they would have if they stayed even one more year. ACC and SEC teams aren't going anywhere, the conferences made sure in their contracts to if a school left if would be financially crippled for at least a decade.
