@roaminglion  oh for gods sakes roam Alabama ain’t in the same shape as Penn State was when Limegrover got here in 2016 Penn St was still in a very fragile position where one fudge up can cause things to go south fast. Alabama had 4* and 5* players at every position so the circumstances were night and day between the 2 teams. If you read Limegrover’s bio you know why we were winning 11 games 2016-2019 and now that he’s gone you see what we got. Stop thinking stats for just 15 seconds and look at results because results matter. My comment are about where Penn State is not where NFL teams and Alabama are.

I’m also not saying he is the only reason we were winning 11 games but I am saying he was a big part of the reason we were winning 11 games. Dude on pennlive said things are paying off right now with the run game, what is this dude watching?

I was never a big fan of the Franklin hire from the get go but I suppose I learned to accept it as long as we were having winning seasons.

I believe he has 3 years left on his contract with quite a chunk of change on a buy out for each of those years. I don't see him being given his walking papers until the final year of his contract.

What irks me about him is his habit of talking out of both sides of his mouth. He'll tell a recruit that once he commits, he needs to shut down his recruitment and cancel visits to other colleges. However, he has no problem not coming out and denying rumors about leaving for other jobs. And all this crap about he "has" to do that to ensure better money for his staff is utter bull.

He's a great recruiter I'll for sure, but once he has the ingredients in place, he still manages to make a lousy meal.

@t-hale   He should’ve shut that crap down a month ago and he let it be a distraction and this has bit him in the butt. I love James Franklin but I think he needs a new start somewhere else like USC and LSU and the dude will will. IMO his time is up at Penn State I just don’t see it getting better these things usually get worse and me personally don’t want to see Penn St turn into Miami and Florida State and I’m afraid that’s where we’re headed I believe fixing things before it gets to that.

But mak no mistake about it, if James Franklin comes back I’ll be his biggest cheerleader on gettin this thing fixed and giving him all the credit I never let pride get in the way of Penn Stste winning football games. I love James Franklin I just love Penn State football more. Goal now is 9-4 baby

Forget about establishing the run.  Turn Yurcich loose and let him call the plays and just win baby.

@roaminglion   I definitely should’ve been more clear. I’ll try and stop assuming you know what I’m talking about but I was talking about Penn St only and what they were going through. I’m not football stupid I know stats mean something to coaches.

@rip: I concur. I sometimes wonder if Franklin is fearful of being shown up by his assistants??  Hear me out before ya jump me: Everywhere Yurcich went he was lauded as an offensive genius. He comes here and suddenly he lays a cold turd on the 50 yd line. In the 1st few games our offense used he TE's rather often and now lately they seem non-existent. I'm not suggesting that Franklin is trying to intentionally lose, but I do think he's coaching not to lose.

Let me explain that. When my son was in HS he wrestled. He had a habit of getting a lead and then he'd sit on it. He'd wrestle not to lose and then up losing anyway because he took his foot off the gas. I see that same pattern with Franklin's teams.

I would love it if Franklin would hand the keys to Yurcich and say, here ya go, take it for a spin.

Exactly, T.  IMO, Jimmy is hung up on establishing his running game.  Yurcich is hamstrung due to this parameter.  As far as gadget plays like fake field goals and going for it on 4th down regardless of field position or game situation have Franklin's modus operandi written all over them.

@t-hale I totally agree with your analogy. I think Ciarrocca was hamstrung and there was some friction over it hence the short lived time at PSU and I think the same thing is occurring this year with Yurcich.

One other thing. Just to clear it up, Joe does now only use his Joe nic but a year or so ago before his long absence from the board, he used to post using the nic remoh.

@navylion: The way the whole Ciarocca debacle played out was pretty bad too IMO. You can't pin last year's losses on him and then not give him credit for the 4 wins to end the season. I get that Yurchich is a better OC so why not let him do his job??

Thanks for the clarification on the joe/remoh thing. Not that it's a big deal one way or the other I suppose. But it does seem rather odd

No, his recruiting coordinator days were right before and during 2000-2004. 🤣

He was removed as RC the year before we signed the 2005 class. Not a coinecidence.

OMG Roam you just laid out a new Bucket List item for me.   Before I die, I want to be in a room with you and Southern discussing Penn State Football.  Throw in Tsuga, Navy, FD, and a few others and some brewski's, and it will be a night to never forget!

All it would take is for one redhead with two legs and a heartbeat, between 65-85 years old to walk thru that door and we'd lose BT for the night.

And if her daughter, who also is a redhead, and two legs and heartbeat comes with her and you might lose a few more!!
