Has the announcer said Florida "just didn't want to be there" yet?

Mullen said the roster was depleted and his guys were under the numbers and could’ve opted out but said the team wanted to compete so they played anyway. The article on ESPN said they had around 10 starters out if I remember correctly it’s on ESPN if y’all want to read it.

I thought I heard Florida's top 4 recievers opted out for one reason or another. Justin Shorter played but only sparingly and in some special teams giving most of the play time to freshman and other younger players. It would appear he will never be the star he had hoped coming out of high school regardless of where he would have gone. This of course is within my own optics while watching the game yesterday and my opinion.

@lakerie Yep, the 4 top receivers at Florida did not play the game.  The best of that group opted out as they prepare for the NFL draft.  At least one of the other receivers had COVID.

Leading into the game, analysts expected Kyle Trask (Florida's Heisman candidate QB) to target Justin Shorter a lot.  Did not watch the game but the stats show Justin to have had 2 receptions for 22 yards.  Trask had 3 interceptions so apparently, the Florida receivers weren't getting open for him.

Justin had 23 receptions during the regular season allowing him to be the 5th receiver based on stats.  Better than his Penn State stats but not outstanding.

@frodopsu. Shorter didn’t pan out the way we would’ve hoped but Parker Washington is this kid can go. Our WR’s are going to be hard to cover next year. Hopefully Dotson comes back for another year.

Thanks but I have zero interest in reading ESPiN propoganda. Plain and simple they got their asses kicked and only losers make excuses.

@psujoe. I don’t like Florida and they got took to the woodshed but having all them starters out made it an uphill battle to get the win. Oklahoma is a big dawg they can beat anybody any time. Good win by Oklahoma.

Always an excuse whenever the sacred cows lose...I mean lets be honest...90% of the SEC conference could line up and win in the NFL with their rosters...They are so deep with talent I can't comprehend how they could even lose a game unless it is to another SEC opponent or Clemson...As I have said here many times...The games don't matter...Let the myth continue...

@the-funeral-director and the reason they would never lose is because they're so fast! Southerners are just faster than people from any other part of the country.

SEC speed is one of the biggest load of chit ESPiN sells. Can't believe people are gullible enough to buy that BS.

@psujoe. Give it time Joe there’s still a few games to be played, then we’ll know. Y’all can talk up coastal Carolina, Cincinnati and Indiana if y’all want to and I’ll talk Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State big dawg football in the playoffs 😁

@southern-psu-fan sorry but they've been selling that BS forever. Don't know how many times they've told us Penn State can't keep up with this southern team because they're too fast and then it turns out our defensive backs are faster than the other teams receivers. Open your damn eyes and stop being so gullible.

PS I'm not a believer in Indiana and really don't know anything about Coastal Carolina at all but I am a believer in fairness and if you can't see what's going on with his farce of a system I don't know what to tell you. It's all about the $$ and those that are cashing in will continue to to use their influence to keep everyone else out.

@psujoe. I agree with you Penn States record against the SEC and southern teams speak for itself. Joe Paterno would come down south and put an azz kicking on all these teams. James Franklin scheduled auburn he ain’t scared to come south either and he will win.

@psujoe. Only 4 teams can get in and Michigan State and Ohio State get beat most of the time. Had Penn State gone to the playoffs in 2016 Clemson might have lost instead of winning 31-0 and that’s Jim Delanys fault the scam committee just took who Jim told ‘em to take. What can James Franklin do? We won the big 10 and beat Ohio State on the field and we still got left out. It is what it is

@southern-psu-fan

Penn State's record vs the SEC is 0-5 since 2010 and 16-21 overall.

Not exactly stellar.

16 wins against the heavyweights is dang good plus Alabama rescheduled a 2 game series because they didn’t think they could win. It ain’t been good lately but over all it’s been as good as you can probably do when playing the big dawgs of the SEC

Penn St use to play WV all the time but I can’t remember the last time we played WV you’d think we would’ve played WV a few times like we have Pitt. I don’t remember playing WV since maybe 91 it’s been a while I use to love that game.

We have not played them once since we started playing in the Big Ten, our last game was 1992. I'd want to play Pitt or Syracuse before WVU if I was choosing a rivalry, both of those teams would consider us primary rivals where WVU would still think Pitt is their biggest rival.

@roaminglion. I remember 91 because I was in Savannah watching the game everybody was waiting on me to go out on the town and I wouldn’t leave the tv and everybody  was pissed because if I remember right we were killing ‘em lol

@roaminglion I don't believe that. I think a PSU vs WVU rivalry could be huge. The most of the state of WV is fanatical about the 'eers and they really don't care for PSU + their stadium would be packed and rockin. Plus going into WV and beating them would have just as much of an impact or more on recruiting western PA than defeating sPitt at Heinz Field. Of all the teams we used to play they are the ones I miss the most. I do have to agree about Syracuse possibly being big but couldn't care less if we don't ever play sPitt again.

I didn't say it wouldn't be a big rivalry game, but I know some Mountaineers and they all hate Pitt with a passion. They seem to be indifferent about Penn State, but you're right that it could potentially become a rivalry.

I just don't see it as long as they are in the Big 12. I hated when they announced Missouri in the SEC and WVU to the Big 12. Those really pissed me off actually. Swap those conferences and you reinstate Missouri's rivalries and give WVU a great one with Kentucky. Sorry for the tangent... just a pet peeve of mine are those two schools being in the wrong conference. IMO those are the worst ones.

Meh.....I'm ok with not playing WVU.  I know i'm in the minority here but I always like the Pitt game played after Thanksgiving.  Head to the game and then from there straight up to deer camp.  I realize we'll never be able to re-live the 70's and 80's but man, those were some good times.  I dont know that we nonsetly have a rival any more.  Rutgers wants to be our rival but by definition, they need to win a game or two before we can call it a rivalry.  As for OSU, We need to win a game or two on a more frequent basis before we reach rival status with them.
