Hey, that rhymes! See Link.
Anyway, the thing that stood out to me last week was Veilleux's willingness to throw up 50/50 balls and trusting his guy to out-athelete the guy in red. For as well as Clifford played pre-injury (and even post-injury at Ohio State) it felt like he was hesitant to take chances downfield because he was (is) so considered with correcting his lopsided TD-INT ratio from last year. Think about it...other than the deep shot to KLS in the Wisconsin game, can you recall many deep balls that Clifford threw where his receiver wasn't wide open? In everything I read about Yurcich's offense in the offseason, it said that his QBs always had the green light to throw McSorley-esque "jumpballs" and we didn't see a lot of that this season from Clifford...but we did with Veilleux on Saturday.
I like these reviews. I saw that he missed a few outlets or was very late checking down to them but that will come. The throws were good the last touch throw and the TD were very good.
I kind of agree that Cliff has not trusted his receivers. The last throw he makes at UM was annoying. Game is on the line and he throws a ball where the receiver has no chance nor do we get an interference possibility. It was ball game and when the ball left his hand the game was OVER. There is a time where you take a chance wit throwing an INT and 4th and ball game is it.
I can't think of any CV throw on Saturday that was a jump all. Some were well covered but he put them where the DB was not going to beat the receiver.
I like his poise as evidenced by his stepping into the throw and no 'happy feet'. He did not recognize coverage quick enough on 3or so throws and hit the relief valve soon enough or at all. This review pointed out the one he was late on and was caught for a loss but for game 1 it was good and yea it was Rutgers but still it was game 1 and the throws were made.
I'm still scratching my head over not seeing him sooner!

I think this is a total JF decision. He just needs to get the f out of the way of MY and let MY work with what they have, Jesus, it's alright for someone else to get the credit for a win other than the HC. The HC, if not an x and o man, should get the credit for on boarding excellent ACs and building the program, ya know ACs are like players; an elite program reloads, they ain't rebuilding!
