I honestly don't know why they don't play the same playoff schedule that all the other divisions do? Have an 8 or even 16 team playoff and you have true home and away teams based on the seeds...The only way to keep that fair would be to make sure the power 5 conference champs would be seeded 1 through 5 and the at large teams would be seeded from 6 through 8 or 16 depending...That would keep them from packing the SEC with top seeds as we all know how that B.S. would go...

Well, why do the Power 5s only get a good seed? Why are you screwing over teams from the MWC, AAC, and Conference USA? Dare I say... are you using the eye test to say those conferences don't matter?????

There is no eye test at all...Frankly Give every Division 1 conference champion a top seed as far as I am concerned...expand the thing to 16 teams and have at it...Every other NCAA football division does it that way and I ask why the top division in college football doesn't follow the same format? I just don't want these scumbags loading the top of the bracket with their sacred cows so they don't have to travel...As far as I am concerned EVERY conference champion should get the home game and the top seeds...You don't win your conference you travel...Make the games matter and no more of this sacred cow baloney where you don't even qualify for your conference championship game and you get a free ticket to the tourney because you pass the eye test...If you want a true national championship tournament that is how it should be run...It isn't radical thinking as the NCAA runs every other football championship tournament that way...Very easy to do...Start the games the 2nd week of December and run them through January in lieu of or in addition to your bowl games...What a shock...Ole Tricky Nicky Saban is against it...I wonder why?

That's like saying every little league and college follow the same playoff format, so why shouldn't the MLB.

It's half tradition, and half the other conferences aren't nearly as competitive. Just not on the same level of the Power 5, but also much better than most of FCS. Group of 5 is almost like a limbo area, with some teams elevating into the upper regions for a bit then usually falling back. Of course you get exceptions like Boise State.

Fact is there are 130 teams and only 12 games, no playoff format would ever be perfect. Even the FCS playoff structure has it's detractors.

Well let me ask you a quick question Roam...What other sport does the NCAA use a different format for their divisions for their championships? So you're gonna tell me it's good enough for division 3, division 2, division 1A but not good enough for D1? Come on man you can do better than that....LOL!!!!

Could be because FBS football is not an NCAA sanctioned championship...

So in reality the NCAA doesn't use anything for FBS. LMAO.

and you should really look at the formats for the FCS, division 2, and division 3 because they're not all the same either. division 3 uses a 32-team filled with groupings of four in pods. division 2 and FCS also play a little bit different playoff formats as well, and not all conferences get Auto bids in any of those divisions either.

none of the divisions have the same format.
