The top 5 teams that can lose a game and still make the playoffs are 4 SEC teams and Ohio State if I understood it correctly.
I noticed Clemson wasn’t in the top 5. I said a couple of weeks ago if Clemson loses they should be out and it looks like the article agrees with me. The ACC is garbage except Clemson
Eight teams would be best.
ESPN supporting SEC? Say it ain't so Joe! If the SEC has a 2 loss team and a 1 loss team ESPN will argue that two SEC teams get in. Or they will argue that 1 gets in from the West and then the winner of the SEC championship. What they really mean is Alabama gets in and we will pick one other.
Power 5? How dare ESPN use that term.
Highest ranked conference winners ESPN, ND is out, sorry NBC.
It's a farce and I have opined on this many times so I will save all of you another diatribe...It appears that many of you are starting to realize what I have known for quite some time. The whole thing is a farce and they have rigged the system to favor their business interests. I am just pleased that people are finally getting wise the game that they are playing...They have managed to buffalo the general public into believing that the SEC is the only conference that plays football...It's a joke the way they rig this thing to make sure that their agenda doesn't get exposed...
And then if the B10 does get in we will play in SEC weather and likely in the SEC zone.
Anything fair about it and not about $?
The greatest Joe Paterno came down south and kicked the chit out of these southern teams so it can be done. 24 bowl wins and some of them were against the SEC teaMs in their back yards.
I never understood the whole "SEC weather" argument. What, you mean nice weather???
Maybe in the past, but Big Ten schools aren't built as 3 yards and a cloud of dust anymore. We have skilled dynamic offenses, our teams aren't built to play in cold weather any more than the next team.
Going to have to disagree with you here Roam. It’s harder to kick, throw and catch the ball in cold weather and in snowy or really wet and rainy conditions teams can be equalized. You hear it all the time in the NFL when teams have to travel north to play games in December. I think teams that play in it and practice in it have an advantage in it. That’s just my opinion.
There is being built for cold weather but there is also the toughness and psychology of playing in it. Things hurt more, wet cold hands dont work as well. You don't think Green Bay has an advantage when playing in 20 degree snow? So not only is Wisconsin built for it BUT they would enjoy playing in it more. Instead they will get a bowl game inside at 70F?
Some data that indicates it’s harder to play in cold weather but scoring is similar.

It’s to cold to play up north in January besides who would want to travel for vacation in 15 degree weather and spend money and freeze to death 😂...tell ‘em how sweet the weather is in Florida in January navylion lol

Green Bay's QB is a California guy, Brett Farve was from Southern Miss, and they practice indoors. Many of their players live in the South during off-season.
It's hardly what it used to be, which was my point.
Penn State, Ohio State, etc. practice indoors most of the time towards the end of the year too.
It’s all about the money guys. People like nice weather in December and January if they are going to travel that’s why most of the bowls are in southern states and California. Unless you want to snow ⛄️ ski nobody wants to vacation in the freezing cold weather states. This is what I’ve always heard anyway.
I think you're right Southern. There are some domed stadiums in the north that could accommodate a bowl game and take the weather factor out of it. The problem is as you say, the fans prefer the warm weather and probably wouldn't come. I know the big money is from TV revenue, not from attendance at the gate. However, a half-empty stadium doesn't look good on TV. Instead of a bowl game it would look like a Pitt game at Hines Field, LMAO.
It's just not about the weather gentlemen...It's about familiarity...It's about being comfortable in your environment because you have played there before many times...Let these southern teams venture north in November and sorry Southern it isn't too cold to play football in January up north...They have a bowl game in Yankee Stadium...These bowl games are SEC home games for the most part...Let these sacred cows take a trip up north and play...Outside of their environment and comfort zone...As a former player I can say with 100% certainty the outcomes will be different...NOT ALWAYS but a change of scenery and environment certainly won't help them either...Lets face it and be honest...If it was such a great thing these southern teams would be playing north in November all of the time but they DON'T...That's one thing I will give Bowden credit for and I don't like him but I will give him this...He took his team up north and played in the cold all of the time which is more than I can say for the rest of em...Saban has the system rigged for him and he knows it...Why do you think he is hell bent to keep it the same?
I was joking about the cold weather lol. The greatest of all time Joe Paterno never complained about bowl games in the south he just come down here took care of business and usually took a big dawg bowl game trophy back home😁...BTW nobody cares about the bowl games up north FD except the few fans that go to the games.
Jesse and Joey do their early CFP predictions on espn
#1 and #2 alabama and Clemson
#3 LSU
#4 Georgia
#5 Ohio State

FD, I agree in that I’d love to see SEC teams play regular season games up here in the cold. Post season games on the other hand are in warm weather to accommodate the fans more so than the teams. I would have a hard time imagining 70,000 fans if the Orange Bowl were played in Soldier Field. The Pinstripe bowl is an anomaly though it is a minor bowl.
The 2021-22 College Football Championship Game will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
I am not certain of this, but it may mark the first time a major college bowl game is played in the north.
I watched the BIG championship there in December 2016. It was short sleeve weather inside.

I was there as well! WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!!
There’s a reason they wanted it inside.
A bowl game in Buffalo at New Era Field, I’d do that!
If that happens I want to see the Bills Mafia out in force body slamming themselves into flaming tables!
