@psujoe on paper today I do believe you’re right about Elko and DeBoer but give ‘em DA and a freshman QB and tell me how good their teams are. Both team have bad ass QB’s. IMO The Louisville coach will be a dream coach with a QB like Grunkemeyer he’ll make him a great QB you can see the talent in that dude plus he’ll have him for 3 years and I believe he’s a better coach than DeBoer or Elko but I’ve always liked the Louisville coach. I’ll admit I can be little biased if I like a coach.

Go look at A&M schedule they’ve beat 7 teams with losing records and the other 2 wins are against Utah St at 5-4 and they did a a very good win against ND 42-41. They 9-0 but man their schedule is garbage. A&M is pretty good but they have had a cakewalk this year

I take that back LSU has a winning record when I thought they had a losing record and Missouri does as well my bad. Maybe their schedule is better than I thought.

We'll soon find out how serious of a candidate Brohm is, Louisville is reportedly negotiating a contract extension.

Where he has coached: Diaz is in his 28th season, spending most of that time on defense. He has worked at four ACC schools, beginning his career at Florida State in 1998 and becoming Duke’s head coach in 2023. Diaz has been a defensive coordinator at Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Texas, Louisiana Tech, Miami and Penn State. Pat Kraft, now Penn State's athletic director, hired Diaz to be Temple’s head coach in 2018. He spent three weeks on the job before accepting the head-coaching position at Miami. James Franklin hired Diaz to become Penn State’s defensive coordinator less than a week after Miam

I didn’t know this but if this is true Manny may have burned a bridge with Kraft and that’s why he’s not getting any more love. Most of folks on here don’t want  Manny anyway but a lot of Penn St fans do and I know a few on Penn St defense does Tony Rojas being one of ‘em.

Just wish they'd announce whomever they have lined up. (Thinking FD is correct) Having a permanent HC might stop some of the portaling/decommitments.

@been-there-ii  it absolutely would stop the bleeding buddy but that’s probably why they don’t have a guy yet because it would be pretty stupid not to go ahead and get this out of the way. I believe they’re still search and probably have been turned down by a few..

Mixed reports have come out about whether Penn State will go after Elko. He is currently on a six-year deal for $42 million. The buyout would be 75% of what is still owed, should the Nittany Lions try to get him away in the first three years of his contract.

If this is true we ain’t gettin Elko that would be over 30 million more so i don’t believe Elko is coming to Penn St. I read this on onward state.

  • Diaz's current contract at Duke: Diaz, who was hired by Duke in December 2023, has an annual salary of approximately $4 million. The school would be owed a portion of his remaining contract, though the exact compensation is not publicly known.

I’m just trying to connect the dots and everything I’m looking at and hearing or not hearing is telling me Manny is going to be the man or maybe the Missouri coach. Drinkwitz or Manny? Who’d you rather have between these two?

DeBoer is a very interesting scenario...I have heard his name thrown around as well...I don't know how I feel about bringing him in...

Why? ...because "Bama"?

No I just don't like him as much as the other guys in my top 5...He would fall 6 on my current list and if he ends up being the hire we could do a hell of a lot worse than bringing in a guy like him...

I'm curious.. why don't you like him as much? He's well proven and won everywhere he has been. Took Washington to the NC and won 3 championships in the lower levels too. Seems like an absolute home run... though I have no clue why he would leave Bama.

Another thing about DeBoer, look at his individual achievements as a player, off the charts; imo, that's another element of his understanding the game, the mental aspect and being able to execute.

I don’t believe Deboer will leave Alabama the dude has it made there and the team is loaded with talent especially at QB. Give AK the Alabama QB and we’re undefeated this year. All the top teams are good at QB and their QB’s make plays. MROB, Collins, McSorely, D-Clark when we’ve had top notch QB’s we were also hard to beat and winning big 10 championships or was a threat anyway. Having our QB’s running AK offense was like taking a DE and make him play DT which he can do but he won’t thrive doing it. Hopefully the next HC will recruit QB’s to fit their offense. Didn’t the GOAT Joe Paterno send Galen and Jay down to Texas before the 05 season and learn what they do on offense when MROB was going to be QB so the offense could improve and that’s what made the GOAT the best he saw he needed to change to compete and it worked baby because from 05–09 3 of them teams were bad ass teams.

One could wonder why he was playing MRob at WR and RB for 3 years prior to 2005

@roaminglion he said he needed him at them positions and he also said he messed up with D-Clark that he should’ve played D-Clark over Morelli and it cost the team a few more wins. I didn’t hear him say the thing about playing D-Clark over Morelli but i remember reading about it. It was his decision because Jay wanted Clark to be the starter. Joe didn’t even want to give Clark a scholarship Jay begged him and he did and he told Jay if this doesn’t work out it’s on you. It was something about the school work that Joe didn’t like if I remember correctly. Jay was right lol 😂

Joe Paterno made Darrell Clark earn everything he did on the field and it paid off.

@southern-psu-fan What does DClark to do with not playing your MRob, the best QB on the team, for three years?

Sorry but if you're gonna get on Franklin's ass for not playing better QBs then do the same with Paterno. He had a Heisman caliber QB playing WR...

@roaminglion I have said Joe was wrong about how he handled MROB and D-Clark quite a few times on here. Like Joe said, it cost him more wins and maybe a NC. James Franklin doesn’t admit shit and still did the same stupid shit and listen to what he said on espn again, he thought everything was ok and was shocked he got fired man. The QB we had committed was another DA that’s how he’s not seeing something that we’re seeing on the field.

Joe also earned over the years to have a mess up but he fixed it when James Franklin was t even close to fixing it. Just my opinion though

I have no hate for Alabama as a program...I have been to the A-Day game a few times and even got to know and had a few lunches and a dinner with the late great Mal Moore who used to be the A.D. there...He was a true gentleman and had nothing but great respect for Penn State as did their fan base at the time...I had Dreamland Ribs and loved the campus...My animosity toward Alabama is a result of the chicanery that went on their when Saban was there and the constant glazing of the SEC conference by ESPN due to their business interests...As far as DeBoar is concerned I think he is a great coach but for some reason it appears that Bama has soured on him...Everybody has their opinions...Some people like Strip Steak, some people prefer Filet Minon and some people prefer Ribeye steak...Doesn't make them wrong or right it is just a preference...For me he would be #6 on a list that in my opinion you couldn't go wrong hiring any of the 6 on that list...As I have said before I could make a great argument as to hire any one of the 6 of them...I am just curious as to why Bama is souring on this guy?

I heard we looking at the giants fired HC. I don’t know much about the dude but the NFL dudes I work with from Pa do not want him as our HC. They are also Penn St fans. Both hate the giants so I take that in consideration lol

@southern-psu-fan Yep, but who's doing the talking? Why hire I guy that just got fired, because he can't win games, when Franklin was fired for the same reason. Not a Giants fan either.
